Hi everyone,i am in the market for a new phone.
I have been following general reviews of Htc one and Samsung galaxy s4, but in the end i always liked the htc one for its build quality, expecially considering that i owned the Google htc nexus one, that recently broke down.
The problem with the Htc one is the cost. I personally think spending more than 400 euros on a phone is foolish, and both the Htc one and Samsung s4 cost 699 euro, just way too much.I would fear carrying it around, and dropping it, or even scratching in anyway.
and thus i am looking at the Oppo find 5 and its general build quality, great screen, quite powerful, rom support and everything.
And in the other hand, i am also looking at the Huawei Ascend P6 (pictured), which has:
Quadcore 1,5 Ghz
2 gb ram
720 x 1280 pixels (321 ppi)
8 mpx back camera which records 1920x1080 (1080p HD) + 5 mpx frontal
removeable microsd card, and supports microhdsc
Fast mobile data support (4G)
4.7 inches display, (120 g)
2000 mAh battery
for 399 euros.
Considering this, i would like some suggestions or advice on why is the Oppo find 5 better or worse than the other contenders, and what did you like the most about your Find 5, how do you use it.
It has recently come to my attention that the Asus zenfone selfie and HTC desire 820 both have the same SD 615 processor and adreno 405 GPU as the idol 3, yet their antutu scores reach 39,000 while the idol 3 struggles the reach 30,000. Why is this?

Lower screen resolution, we're talking 720P vs 1080P (our device). Of course it will look "more performing" on a lower resolution, 3D graphics is probably doubled on 720P.
Also probably faster components (like RAM and eMMC), I heard our eMMC is not good, in fact the device lags especially when there are a lot of I/O operations. Those help the score a bit.
I'll make an Antutu score when I'll be able to make a 1.7 GHz kernel though.

That's cause they don't, the Asus Zenfone selfie has a 1080p screen just like the Idol 3.

Do you know why there's a 10,000 point difference between the zenfone selfie and idol 3?
there is also asus zenfone slefie with snapdargon 616 , MSM8939 (yeah same number) clocked at 1,7GHz and 3GB RAM i think the higher score was achieved with this device.

Does it really matter? What matters is how well it performs for you and if you are happy with it. When I compared the Zenphone with the Idol 3, i chose the IDOL 3 because i liked more of the features and the dual front facing speakers. I also got my idol3 for $199 on preorder. That makes up for any difference in Anttu scores.
Agreed. Idol is less expensive and performs well.
I admit, one of my relatives have the Zenfone 2 5". It looks really better to my opinion than the idol 3 design wise. But some complain about the Zenfone screen brightness and it's a fact, it's weak compared to the Idol. For example, 100% brightness on the Zenfone is equal to 30% on the Idol 3. It's really low. Vision angles are much better on the Idol and.... Last but not least. The Idol screen treatment makes it much better than the Zenfone for fingerprints.
They both are very good phones, the Zenfone looks a bit faster than the Idol, but the screen is really better on the Idol. Battery as well... Impressive. I installed all my apps yesterday afternoon. Configured them. Showed my new device to my colleagues all day long today. Read the forum 1:30h yesterday night, listened to music today and still have 20% left on my battery...
What else? This device costed me 130€ as I had a rebate. I couldn't ask for more.
One additional thing, seems accessories for the Zenfone are more expensive than for the Idol.
Benchmarks are one thing, real life and use another...

Honestly, in real life use the zenfone blows the idol out of the water, I love my idol but the lag needs to be fixed completely.

Which version of the Zenfone? You're right the Idol is not the fastest phone I had in hands, but it does the job for me. I did not use the Zenfone long enough to figure out the difference.

The 2gb and 4gb variant, their GPU destroys the adreno 405, Alcatel didn't optimize the software correctly on the idol 3
Hi,
Iv'e just ordered a Xiaomi Mi Max Pro 128GB/4GB to replace my Redmi Note 3 (MTK Hennesy) . I have a typical VR viewer but the Redmi barely fitted in it and I cant find one that goes up to the size that I need for the Mi Max
I googled and found this reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleCard...ave_a_644_mi_max_are_there_any_compatible_vr/
One of the suggestions stated a product that might work but it's specs show up to 6" as supported and the OP didn't get a complete answer, some mentioned possible issues with other viewers and of phones this size in general
Does anyone here have a recommendation that they know works for sure with a phone of this size? Not just in terms of screen size but total dimensions of 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5 mm (6.81 x 3.48 x 0.30 in)
Grateful for any advice

Just thought I would update this post to add that after a lot of searching I found a recommendation for a product that I ordered and that I CAN CONFIRM it works fine with the Mi Max and therefore should with any phone of 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5 mm (6.81 x 3.48 x 0.30 in) or less
Just an average viewer but at least it fits, product is called: Breett 3D Glasses VR BOX Virtual Reality Helmet for 4"-6.5" Mobile Phone
Hi,
First of all, sorry for my english and sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I'm looking to buy a new smartphone that meets the following criterias:
-screen size 5 - 5.5 inch (my lg g2's 5.2 inch display is perfect for me)
-at least 3 gb ram
-preferably fast internal storage (ufs)
-preferably water resistance (even minimal)
-doesn't need very powerfull cpu but something decent (my uses are mainly web browsing and such..)
-fingerip unlock, preferably in the front
-doesn't care that much about the camera
Since i'm not from US/eroupe i don't really know how to convert my budget, but i've found few devices in my price range that meets my needs:
Oneplus 5, Xiaomi mi6, Samsung galaxy a5 2017, Samsung galaxy s7, Nokia 7 (although it's still not selling here yet)
What do you think?
Thanks
Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a new phone and realme 5 pro seems to be a good choice. Is the RAM size (4 or 8go) related to the battery's life ?
Thank you for your help
Though this phone is good.. i would suggest you look at snap dragon 760 or at least 730 based phones.
