+1 here. The small Apps sometimes work but most of the time just a notification will appear. Clearing small app manager data don't help. Restart also don't help
Actually most small Apps that don't work are from Sony.
Attached on the screenshot are the small Apps. Those in red are the ones not working and as you can see only one of those is not from sony (N.memo).

Firstly, if you are having issues then providing Logcats are essential. You do not need to be rooted, you can do it via ADB
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.log
Secondly, just suggesting to flash a new FTF or repair via PCComapnion is not fault finding. There are a whole bunch of other stuff to do first such as logcats, and disabling apps or mods one at time and re-enabling them. There are many reasons why repairing or flashing FTF's is not the best thing to do in all cases.
Finally. Do not argue in the open forums.
I hope this would help. Took a screen shot of my z3(small apps not working) vs my z3 tablet compact (small App working). Both devices are rooted with the same set of xposed installed and almost the same set of apps. Now I took shot of the running app in the settings. The small app supposed to be open is n.memo however on my z3 it displayed that main service in use is Google play services instead of n.memo which is what is displayed on my z3 tablet

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it when I was faced with the same problem.
Thanks to you, the problem has now been solved.
BTW, I disabled the deep hibernation option and tried (without a reboot) - small apps working as they should.
Thanks again.

After long wait, LBE Privacy Guard v2 is finally available!
V2 has a completely rewritten core service, which makes it faster than previous version and consumes less memory.
However, due to the rewritten core service, the database format is completely different. So it's not possible to keep your configuration while upgrade.
Besides, LBE Privacy Guard v2 has changed package name (from com.lbe.security to com.lbe.security.lite), after you install new version, please uninstall older version.
---------------------
Change log for Version 2.0.1001
0. Fixed compatibility issue for custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod 7.1
1. Completely redesigned service framework with lesser battery drain and less memory usage.
2. Dual firewall support: Uid firewall for Android 2.1 and eariler, iptables firewall for Android 2.2 and later. iptables firewall allows you to configure 3G/WIFI permission separately.
3. Changing app permission now takes effect immediately, app restart is no longer required.
4. New traffic monitor allows you to track 3G/WIFI daily usage for each app on your phone. (you can turn it off if you don't need it).
5. Improved compatibility with Root Call Blocker
---------------------
Requirements
**NEEDS ROOT**
Works on Android 2.0 and above.
Tested on 100+ different devices and firmwares, but not tested on Android 3.0 and 3.1 devices.

Thanks to the new design, although not recommended, you can actually monitor (and even block) LBE itself.
Personally I would recommend LBE's built-in firewall, but feel free to use any firewall app you want, LBE should work with them.

You say you haven't tested in on tablets, so here's my experience on an ASUS Transformer 3.2 with Prime: The application keeps saying "your phone is protected" every 5 seconds. It also crashes after I try to change the settings for an app and press the back button.
Curious: Why don't you test for? Can't you use the emulator? Or isn't that possible for apps that need root?
Ability to turn off bandwidth usage on the notification bar would be nice. Also, don't specify the text colour for the text on the notification bar. Thanks!
Can anyone provide a direct download link to the APK? Thanks very much.

Nice, trying this out now.Thx
Very nice. It's good to see an app developed with privacy in mind.
I'm testing it right now, so far so good.
thanks for putting an off-market version
I prefer to use droidwall for firewall/iptables configuration...
However, even if you turn off the firewall in lbe there are a ton of lbe settings that keep getting written in the iptables.
Even after I format iptables the lbe settings get rewritten the next time lbe is run.
I will not be using this unless this is fixed.
Hi. somehow it stopped working for me.
I used it to deny the GPS for facebook app whitch worked perfectly but somehow it stopped working....facebook can get GPS again.....any ideas?

Best app ever!!
Great update. However, Dolphin Browser HD 7.0.2 does not work. The app is unable to access the internet both via WiFi or 3G. Permissions could also not be set because it's neither listed in the monitored nor trusted app lists. Refreshing the app list didn't help. Anyone else having this issue?
Update: I discovered that denying internet access to Dolphin's desktop toggle plugin causes the browser not to be able to connect (perhaps because the browser agent could not be sent thru the plugin). STILL, Dolphin is nowhere to be found in the app list. I wonder if that's got something to do with the browser's privacy issues which you can read more about here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319529&page=3
Update 2: Removing the pluggins installed made the browser show up in the app list.
Here is the latest facebook official app with location 'feature' removed.
I am not sure if you guys who use the app know this, but facebook constantly tracks your location. There is a receiver built into the app that every time you "refresh" the app (Interval settings are found in the settings menu of Facebook) it gets your location and everything you do on Facebook, post a status, send a message, upload a photo etc, your location is added and you cannot turn it off..
So i decompiled the apk and removed all locations ability. That means, no checking in, no nearby, nothing that needs to get your location. You WILL get a forced close. I am working on trying to keep that enabled while dissabling the 'tracking' featrue. Just download, copy apk to your phones storage and use a file browser to install the APK.
Hope you guys enjoy the privacy while also enjoying the Facebook app.

Are you talking about turning your location off under settings of your phone? Well thats different. There is no way to turn it off in the FB app itself. You can turn off the location thing for your messages but its still secretly getting your location.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but a good app that stops location requests for any application is LBE Security Master. It will prompt you each time an application requests to use certain permissions. You can also check a box to never allow the application to access that setting, in this case it would be location.
Just search on XDA to find it, I'm on my phone and I don't think the app is on the market.

Whenever i tried using a third party app to block GPS to the Facebook app, it would cause the FB app to force close irregardless what you did.
I'll try the app and see what happens. Not sure how it goes about granting and denying access. In all honesty i was looking for something like this.
Just don't use LBE Privacy Guard on jelly bean, it caused my phone to freeze a few minutes after turning on and then rebooted and got stuck in that loop. The only way to resolve it was to use adb and remove the apps file.
The app I mentioned in my post above doesn't seem to have any issues besides that parts of it are in Chinese.

As far as I can tell it does. When I open Facebook, LBE pops up and asks me if I want to allow Facebook to track my location. It detects whether Facebook is using location tracking through WiFi or through GPS. I have not checked to see my posts to see if location is attached to them.

Interesting.. I wonder if it's blocking "locationmanager.getlastknownlocation" as well. This method doesn't access any hardware. It just reads what the last location known was. Meaning if any other app has access to your GPS and gets a lock, that location is remembered and then used by above method.
I feel much more comfortable completely removing the actual physical code no offence to your option though.
And for a thread update, I learned a new tool to help figure out what gets called where. so I might be able to add the ability to check in as well as use "nearby" in the app. And just disable the tracking!

Sort of. I know when notifications are enabled there is a service running. Also what's your refresh interval set at? If that's not disabled then that's what the service is.
If not it may just be in "empty applications" part of androids memory manager. Meaning it's dead but still there to increase launch time. I'm running cm10 and I use the "hold back to kill" option on Facebook so mine is 100 percent gone.

There is a new app in play store called Greenify. This app is only for rooted users. This app is similar to the freeze option we find in Titanium Backup Pro, but does the job in a much better way - it puts the app to hibernation.
Key features include:
1. You can add the apps to list which you want to hibernate
2. After the app is added to list, Greenify does the rest of the job.
3. No need to manually hibernate and de-hinbernate (like we manually freeze and unfreeze in TB Pro)
To use Greenify follow the steps below:
1. Open Greenify and give SU permission
2. Add the app to list in the built in recent app list or if you want to add app manually then choose more and open the desired app from list and tap on Greenify in notification bar.
3. In the main screen of Greenify you will see the apps that are currently running under "pending" category.
4. Now turn off the screen and wait for 2-5 minutes. Open Greenify again and you would see that, all the apps added to list are movee to "hibernated" category. All these apps are as good as frozen/uninstalled.
When the apps are in hibernated, they don't run in foreground nor in background. This will help in saving the battery and also increase the performance of the device.
I could test this by adding WhatsApp to the list in Greenify and later when WhatsApp went to hibernation mode I did not receive any of the messages in it (as good as the app not running). Then once I opened Whatsapp, it was our of hibernation and I received all my pending messages. Voila!
Note 1: you cannot add the system apps to the list. Greenify gives a message stating "Sorry, system apps are impossible to be greenified due to safety reason". Who wants to hibernate system apps anyways.
Note 2: Like the app description says in play store, it's not advised to put IM, Alarm clock apps and other apps that you rely heavily on for it to be running in background.
Note 3: You can send the pending app to hibernation immediately by tapping the app in list and tapping the pause icon.
Suggested list of apps that to be hibernated:
1. Facebook (take that FB!)
2. Google Maps (install as user app)
3. Any other rouge app which you wish to keep but keeps on popping up as background process. You tell me.
Weirdly I could think of only two apps! So share your list here. Thanks.
So this is really a very useful app which I feel would increase the milage of the device in long run. Kudos to the developer!

Testing this, I'm fed up freezing apps then un freezing them when I need them. Play store doesn't show updates for frozen apps. Could be promising as apps are hibernated and run only when you need them. Best of all worlds of it works.

About hibernating system apps, since you are already rooted you can convert few apps like Facebook and other Sony apps which are media related to user apps with help of a titanium backup. This will enable you in hibernating them.
Take due care when converting Sony apps to user apps though.

Hey everyone I figured out a workaround for the whole Facebook forcing you to use Messenger app. This is for Android only so sorry iOS...
Go to Settings > Security and check Unknown Sources.
This is important because you need to download the apps from the web.
**BTW in case something bad happens to your devices which I'm almost positive nothing will I'm not responsible.**
Okay now delete your Facebook app.
Then go here: http://facebook.en.uptodown.com/android/old
And go all the way down to the bottom of the screen and download the oldest version of Facebook. Install it and sign in.
Now keep installing every version of Facebook from the bottom up and make sure just to click on the messages tab to make sure it works on every version of Facebook. This will let you keep the messaging option in the default app for the newest version! When an update is available I recommend you update from the website rather than the Play Store. Haven't tried it yet because there isn't an update and I don't know if it will still work.
Hope this is useful! Good luck
