Hello everyone,
I currently have the latest rom from cyanogen and was wondering if someone could hack this Voice plus beta rom(I just received from TMOBILE). So we can all use the new features on a rooted G1,Mytouch!
yea, I'm dying to test this too but am afraid will lose root... any solution?!?
It's just better call quality which is achieved by flashing that new radio from the DM blah blah that Tmo released.Don't bother with unrooting it's still 1.6 not 2 point anything.

No dude not that update!
Here are the new features with this:
T-Mobile Voice Plus Beta Features:
* Call Divert: Carve out a little peace and quiet by sending selected numbers straight to voicemail without ringing your phone.
* Call Defer: Let callers know you’re busy and schedule a convenient time for you to call them back. Send them a text message that acknowledges their call and that you will respond at a later time.
* Visual Voicemail: Easily manage your voicemail! View a list of who left a voicemail, with the time of the message and its length. Choose which to listen to now and which to review later.
* City ID: Get more information about the calls you receive. The city and state information of incoming calls is displayed.
Yes you WILL lose root. Here is the file if anyone wants to try to un-nbh it, having problems with un-nbh'ing it myself, but maybe you'll have better luck.

I awlays thought that it was crappy of the G1 that I couldnt see who left the voicemail only the damn icon. Made me almost wish I had my bb storm back
All of these features have already been done. I mean, send calls directly to voicemail? There's an option for that in stock Android...
Call defer might be new. haven't seen an app that does it.
Visual Voicemail has been a T-Mo app in the market for over a year.
City ID has been an app in the market since a month after launch.
I think that you can extract .nbh files, but I can't figure out how.

Er, search the market for "visual voicemail". T-Mobile has an app for you.
Better yet, sign up for Google Voice, and get text transcription as well.

I mean come on how MANY voicemails do you actually get? i get maybe 2-4 a month if that!
Just wait a bit enom will more than likely release this, as he does with all the OTA updates and Official Carrier ROMs. Its common sense you will LOOSE ROOT if you install. Everytime a new ROM or update appears, I keep seeing the same question. It isnt worth loosing ROOT over, just to see what city someone is calling? Come on its good news, but thats all it is
I joined the beta test team.
I joined, but I don't wanna flash it. They combined the Tmo OTA with the app downloader for the beta plus apps. i wish they had just put out the app. i've got the NBH file ripped out with a program called psas. but now the files are .nb files. I have SDK installed, but really have no idea what I'm doing. just need to open the system.nb file I guess..
Help??
Yeah...and then on top of the fact that it wasn't just an app like was suggested when we signed up for the beta, the beta release actually has a bug where you can't install the maps update...I mean really, why wouldn't you make the ROM with the latest software installed already for your testers...It can't be to difficult, the Chefs here do it in their spare time for free.
can anyone make a .zip of this..?? i only want the features... not to lose root
I'm trying

I've got the rom pulled apart so I could get the app out of it, but I'm stuck after breaking down the .nbh file. I have a few files now, system.nb, radio.nb, boot... and a few others.
I just can't figure out how to get into these files and pull the apps out.
all we need is the tmo app downloader to download the voice mail plus app...
I singed up to beta test, but I'm not loosing root to do it!
Speaking of Google Voice... someone send me an invite.. edited
I just got an invite! - thanks shumanak

probably rename to .img and unyaffs.
I just flashed it. Its kinda nice actually. When you get a phone call 3 buttons popup answer defer and voicemail. I tried the defer button and you can do a one touch text like call back later or in a meeting. Witch is good for driving I guess (I text and drive anyway) visual. Voice mail is adder as an extra tab in contacts menu way better then the visual voice mail alp in the market. Wonder if I will get over the air updates with this build? Clashing the nbh was strange also seemed to have an extra step then a normal nbh found here for rc29 or atleast mine did it twice? Other then that its stock. Wish it was 2.1
edit
Sorry for the spelling guys I'm on my phone......
gOSH, i want this.. come on devs! rock this! show this t-mo bastards who the bosses are (the customers), lol!
i would love the visual voicemail app... we dont have anything like that in canada yet (except iphone) .. might have to grab this rom and play with it once i get home..
Hi tried posting this in Q&A thread and got no response. So thought I'd try again here in the Apps section.
Is there a way set a discrete ringtone to unknown callers. I do not believe there is a way to do this right now. I think I need an application to do it for me.
Apparently there are three different types of unknown calls:
1. Calls from number-withheld callers.
2. Calls from a public telephone.
3. Calls from the environment where you are unable to notify the number.
It is not possible to treat the three separately.
No problems here... All I want is for my phone to use a specific ringtone for these calls, that is different to the default one I assign to contacts or calls from non withheld numbers.
I do not want to block or divert or silence them, which is what the current "unknown number" Applications do.
I do not want a different ringtone for callers not in contacts. So don't confuse my request as a requirement for this.
I get a lot of legitimate calls from a single "unknown caller" who is is fact my employer. They use number-withheld to mask who is calling. So I want my phone to ring differently when they call. Seems a pretty simple request to me.
The Nexus call log does not let you add Unknown calls in the history to contacts, which I have read in another forum as a suggested solution.
Simply want the phone to realise caller ID is unknown and because of this fact use a dedicated ringtone.
Any ideas? Perhaps for you programmer types, it is a simple app waiting to be made, that no one has thougt of yet
You could even call it "Unknown Tone". That rhymes and has a certain ring to it. pardon the pun
Alright - so no one is at all interested in this app. I can live with that.
But a simple favour. Could someone at least tell me if an app to do this seemingly simple task would be relatively easy to make?

Its 6am here in the US and your post is 4 hours old. Wait a bit and you will get answers
Do you have access to google voice? It lets you screen unknown callers.
Thanks for the reply. I recall a lack of interest back when I had a WinMo phone a couple of years ago too. Just not something most people need.
Don't have google voice as I am in Australia. If I new how to program, I would have a crack at it. On the face of it, it sounds so simple. Wonder if it would be a simple utility that I could do as a way of learning something about programming with the SDK.
So no one nows if a app to set a dedicated ringtone for unknown callers is possible?
I have installed Eclipse and the android SDK, naively thinking I might be able to make this app myself. Hello World is about the limit of what I can do. I have NFI where to start programming this thing.
Funny thing is on the face of it it seems such an easy thing to do.
If phone rings AND caller ID = unknown, assign ringtone X.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666894
It's dedicated to ROM development, I think...but, maybe you can get some help there on coding...
OK thanks will give it a try. It is such a simple idea after all.
Unknown caller answer
Hi
Just had the same issue...Go into your call history and find one of the "unknown" or "private" numbers with no phone number attached and save it as a contact and then assign your ringtone....I have a htc hero and can do this. Just did it for Private and Unknown, they can be no number attached to it, otherwise it will only work for that particular num.
NO app needed.
Good Luck

As I said in my first post, "I do not want to block or divert or silence them, which is what the current "unknown number" Applications do. " So NO it does not WORK for what I want. I need to assign a ringtone not Block. But thanks for the suggestion.

Not the case I am afraid.
Hero must run an earlier version of the android OS that the Nexus One. Because what you suggested was the very thing I first tried before starting this thread. Android 2.1 is smart enough or stupid enough (depending on your point of view) to prevent adding "Unknown" numbers to contact.
Normal number in call history, long press gives:
Call 1234567890
Edit number before call
Send text message
Add to Contacts
Remove from Call log
Unknown number in call history, long press gives:
Remove from Call log
So as you can see the lack of an "Add to Contacts" choice means I am currently snookered. What android is on your Hero and do you get the same list of options as shown above when you long press an unknown number?
Perhaps the functionality you described was removed without thought to unintended consequences in OS2.1 . They might put it back in with OS2.2 with any luck.

Yes I heard you the first time. I just tried to suggest an easy way to get rid of the unknown calls because I figured why would anyone want to here an annoying ringtone for a call that he probably doesn't want to pick up! This is why I have such few posts but I have been a member here for a lot longer than most people! You sound really angry there bud ^_^
Nah not angry bud. Just pointing out that your suggestion (for which I thanked you) does not assign ringtones to unknown callers and therefore is not a solution for me. Will be interesting to see if Froyo does this any differently. I am guessing not.
I would like to know an answer to this as well. I just upgraded to nexus one from treo 680. IN the Treo it was a simple matter to assign a particular ringtone to unknown numbers, in fact it was a menu option in call settings.
Isn't it interesting how the Treo has it as a Menu option. Where as for all intensive purposes it is not possible in the Android OS.
I now have Android OS 2.2 on my N1 and it remains unchanged. Still no obvious way to assign a discrete ring tone to an Unknown caller. Plenty off apps to block/kill Unknown/Private calls. But no way to simply give them a discrete ringtone.
Just to add that I've also wanted this since I first got my Hero - it should be possible without having to resort to using an app, though i'd be grateful for an app if it existed
You guys should request it for CyanogenMod or ask WYSIE if it's possible to add to his Contact.apk mod.
Here's a stupid question though... have you tried first going into the options for contacts and UN-checking "only contacts with phones" and then see if you can have a contact that doesn't have a phone number attached named "Unknown" ? I realize it's a long shot, but maybe you were only trying to add it when that option was checked....
Not sure if this can be setup to achieve what the OP needed?

Dear friends,
As you probably realized after buying your android phone, the internal Messaging application for SMS/MMS does not really support SMS/MMS delivery notification.
Sure you can enable it in the settings but it does not notify you when the recipient really received the sms. You have to go into the conversation and either check the icon next to the envelop or hold down on one message and choose view report to get the status "Received" or "Pending".
After my frustration I decided to download the sources of the Messaging application from Google and enhance it so it would notify. I managed to do that after a lot of hours trying and coding so I wanted to share this.
This is the original froyo Messaging application compiled from source for the generic emulator so it should work on all 2.2 ROM phones.
What it does:
- If delivery reports are enabled on the messaging settings it will light up the screen and notify for incoming sms or mms messages when received using sound and vibration.
- The notification sound and the vibration settings are not the ones defined for incoming sms's but those in general phone settings. That way you can adjust the sound and vibration and distinguish it from incoming messages.
- It will give a message on status bar with Incoming sender the original recipient and in the details his/her specific number: "John: The message to +3088999... has been delivered".
- If you click on the notification it will take you to the specific conversation and clear the notification.
- If a second delivery report arrives from another recipient it will create a new notification not removing the first.
- If you get into the messages the delivery reports will be cleared (it means you read them).
- For MMS's it will only notify when the recipient got the message, (not when he read it. You can still view if he read it on the conversation details, I though it would be too much to check this also).
Update:
- Added Greek sms 160 characters per sms support.
- Added longer vibration (2 longer vibrations per delivery report, 4 longer vibrations per SMS/MMS).
I tested this with my ZTE Blade 2.2 and many other devices and it works as expected.
To install it you have to:
- Uninstall the original. To do that you must have a rooted phone and use something like "Root Explorer", or "SuperManager" (the second one is free from the market) to delete (keep a copy just in case) /system/app/Mms.apk from your phone and reboot.
- After that you can install the one I provide below.
Mms2.apk
The version below was extracted by the WIND froyo 2.2 official rom (based on the chineese leak and the SS RLS5) and was modified by me to add my changes using decompile/recompile apktool methods.
It has better icons and colors and some extra options for adding signature etc.
Mms2_wind_greek_vibrate.apk
/Update 17/06/2011
Please uninstall the one you are using first before trying to install. Then activate settings (enable reports).
I 've spent more that 60 euros in tests so if you could donate anything I would be very thankful.
I also find the "put a #0 on every sms" solution unacceptable since it is not supported by all providers and it comes as an extra sms that you have to delete.
DONATE

LS

I will take a look at it, I have had some issues with the SMS system.

I 've noticed that some roms have a modified version which notifies on sms delivery. I don;t know which ones but ZTE blade and many many other phones carrying the official froyo Messaging system do not include that.
Official froyo 2.2 Messaging source (gingerbread as well) only displays a very brief popup on the screen when the sms is received with no notification sound or light.
Re opened as per OP request
What i am interested in changing the the entire Notification on SMS received... did anyone do any work to make it look like the Blackberry SMS?
On BBs we see the small checkmark when its sent, the D for delivered and R for read... all in a tiny space next to a message, no need to get plenty of delivery reports...

Hello, I've done quite a bit of searching, both on xda-developers and in the web at large (including the Xposed repository), but couldn't find a solution. Here's my question.
It's easy enough to change WhatsApp's notification sound, but it seems impossible to change the soft notification sound that announces a new message in an open chat. Apparently, this sound is the same on all phones, so when one person in a room gets a message, all people in the room hurry to check their WhatsApp. Is there a way to change THAT sound? It must be hardcoded, but perhaps I could replace the soundfile itself? I was hoping there would be some Xposed module to take care of this, but I couldn't find anything. Anyone here knows how to deal with this nuisance?
Thanks for reading this far. Any help will be welcome
