[Q] Should I buy yu yuphoria? - YU Yuphoria

So I am looking to buy a new phone and the yuphoria looks great on paper... But I was reading some reviews of yureka and many of them complained about heating and battery issues and poor Customer Support... Do you think we will face similar problems with yuphoria.. Getting to the bedrock of my question, should I buy yuphoria on the first flash sale(28 May) or should I wait some time.. I would hate facing issue with my new phone.. I am rather reluctant about waiting as I don't know when the next flash sale would be.. And also, could someone who has been using the yureka for some time describe their experience... Thanks...

One should always wait for at least a week to buy any phone after release date even if the phone is from a well known company.
Also before buying the phone see as many video reviews as possible.

Go for it......
Its your wish whether to buy it or not but according to me you should buy it bcoz the review units of the yuphoria are already with the reviewers and the yuphoria performed quite well. It has got almost all features which a budget android smartphone can provide and some reviews say that camera is not that good so we should not forget the budget and in this price range it is very good........so according to me, just go for it.

Thanks for the advice, everyone

U r welcome...

Yuphoria is a good device . I am using it now . It looks awesome . You should buy it

I have been using this for a while now
I have been using this phone for like 4 days and this is my review for the phone. I have compared it to other phones
BATTERY
8/10
The backup is decent, 6-7 hrs,
The power saver mode in yuphoria is the best that I have ever seen, on screen time is about 6 hrs AND THE QUICK CHARGING IS AWESOME.
CAMERA
7.5/10
The primary camera overexposes the images and has a yellow/pink tint.
The secondary camera is perfect for selfies and when compared to yureka, yuphoria has a wider angle of the lens .
Group selfies are the best.
LOOKS + DESIGN
10/10
Excellent, its even very light, the phone doesn't feel cheap, the grip is good
HEATING ISSUE
7/10
YES it does heat up a lot, especially on playing music and while out in the sun.
The rear side heats up near the camera ring and the mettalic sides heat up a lot.
One way of overcoming this issue is that after using a heavy app, you go to the settings and force stop the application.
BRIGHTNESS
8/10
Sunlight legibility is nice on max brightness but the adaptive brightness doesn't work well.
Its better than yureka.
DISPLAY
8/10
Nice viewing angles.
More PPI than yureka (267 vs 294 )
SCREEN TOUCH
9/10
One word :- AWESOME, BETTER THAN YUREKA.
PROXIMITY SENSOR
10/10
Works fine for me, only some devices were faulty.
UI
10/10
Cynogenmod is the best and the most customizable.
ISSUES FACED
1) After I am done with charging, on the lock screen there is a notification that still keeps on saying "Charging" or "Charged".
I have to restart/ reboot the phone.
2) while gaming, I see a minor drop in the rate of frames but only with heavy games, not observed in yureka.
3) Sometimes after the phone is on for long and I try to play songs on the default music app, the music won't play, then I have to restart the phone.
4) On restarting/ Switching the phone on, when I play music, my songs won't be detected by the music player and I have to wait for 10 minutes and then retry, my music is in the SD card.
5) Chrome sometimes doesn't respond.
FINAL VERDICT :
THIS PHONE IS GOOD AND A BETTER CHOICE THAN LENOVO A6000/A7000 , you Should go for it if battery matters or if gaming matters, yureka is a better option.
I WILL UPDATE MY REVIEW SOON
UPDATE :
Thnx for your support guys, I have just installed the new update,
After the update :
The charging issue that showed up on the lock screen has been resolved.
PROXIMITY : I didn't have an issue but HAVE THE SOLUTION:
Go to SETTINGS > DISPLAY AND LIGHTS > Turn off "DOUBLE TAP TO WAKE"
Relax.
1) My phone got very hot during the update but after that, t wasn't very hot but I am not sure whether the update affected it or not, will let u know soon.
2) Music better with earphones now, but I feel that the speaker quality has been reduced a bit.
3) Lags : Gone forever.
Before the update, after ten days or so it did lag a little during multitasking but it's perfect now.
4) I compared my phone to xiaomi Mi3
The touch, is better in yuphoria
The UI is 100000000 times better than Xiaomi.
Camera : didn't compare, will let u know.
5) I don't understand what difference was made by the update to the camera though the images are captured faster now,
Quality : yet to test.
I Will Update Again

Both the Note 3 and the G2 should be lag free considering the powerful S800 SOC in them (The HTC One with the S600 is smooth already), the LG G2 has an IPS LCD while the blacks are good they are not "true black", and stuck/dead pixels can happen in any device with an LCD and to some extent could happen to an AMOLED too.
Hmmm. Kill lg g2.. I m fan of true black lol..
S4 or note 3 there is so much price difference BTWeen that phones..
S4 is for 34k and note 3 is for 45k in Indian rupees.. Which so much difference.. Would u suggest me s4 ? Or note 3 ? If note 3 have not much feature for its so much high price..

I find the Note 3 the much better phone than the S4, much bigger screen (5,7" vs 5"), faster processor and GPU (S800 2.3 GHz with Adreno 330 vs S600 1.9 GHz with Adreno 320), more RAM (3GB vs 2GB), a better camera (4K recording (2160p) vs Full HD recording (1080p)) and a bigger battery (3200 mAh vs 2600 mAh) and it has a WACOM digitizer and the S-Pen which the S4 doesn't support. As for the price the Note 3 was just released while the S4 is on the market for a while thats why the big difference in prices.
G2 D802 VS NOTE 3 N9005
I hope and I believe this post might be useful for someone who is deciding between G2 (D802 UK Model) and Note 3 (N9005 UK model).I have been following this thread for a long time and read all opinions in these forums, but never wrote any opinions. Short Version for the answer is, I have picked Note 3 over G2 after using both for 2 weeks. I have also used S4, S3, Note 1,Note 2, Htc One and S2 quite a lot so am aware of the pitfalls of Samsung devices.
Long Version and my reasons are below and these are only my opinions.
LG G2 Pros (G2 over Note 3)
1) Screen whites are clear white and LCD screen is very good. Especially reading books and web you will see clear whites.
2) Knock on feature to lock and unlock is the most used feature and once you start using it , you will start thinking how good it is and may
be all android devices copy this feature. I actually started knocking other devices now and trying to mimic this feature on note 3 with some 3rd party apps and as you all know they are not the same and don't work that well.
3) Bluetooth sound on my planatronics voyager hd is better for some reason on G2. More clear and high volume.
4) Wifi and mobile signal is really good , more than note 3. I guess its atleast one bar more on G2. Call quality is also very good.
5) Single hand usage is really good and its almost a perfect device. (Almost perfect !!! -- reason in cons.)
6) Lots of customisation options like multi wallpaper, zooming in for sms windows and themes in G2 stock rom. I actually
give more marks to G2 stock launcher. G2 Keyboard is also good.
7) Battery life is really good. I use mobile devices to watch atleast 2 hours of video in a day and not a single day its completely finished.
8) Camera pics are really good in day light and good in night time when there is sufficient light.
9) Back buttons are also nice , some might prefer and some might not.
G2 Cons:
1) G2 looks beautiful from front, but back is ugly , plasticky , cheap and damn slippery. Reason almost perfect is because if they made the
back more textured or grippable , they would have sold may be more devices. I actually find handling note 3 easier sometimes as note 3
device textured back is really useful. People call samsung plastic, but note 3 build quality is really really good. LG back sometimes make a
creaking sound and if you drop I can guarantee that G2 will break rather than note 3 due to edge screen on G2. Actually I feel that I will
drop G2 more quickly than Note 3.
2) Inside the house the low light pics are horrible and full of noise. This surprised me and I am disappointed with camera on low light
pictures. One more thing I have noticed the G2 camera pictures sometimes have blue hue to the picture.
3) Video recording ,,,,, oh my dog ! Am not sure what to say about it, its bad, it keeps auto focusing every 2 seconds to a point where it
gets really annoying. Am note sure how this has gone through QA testing from the company. I was really looking forward for camera, but
my kids videos all have come really bad.
4) To my surprise even though the screen is crisp and clear and good for reading, I did not enjoy watching movies on LG G2 screen. I
guess am used to Amoled pure blacks while watching movies. And also if you just view the screen even with a little angle of 20 degrees ,
the viewing on screen becomes real bad.
5) Outdoor viewing is OK but not great.Screen is really shiny outdoors and am actually a bit surprised that outdoor visibility is not great
compared to HTC One or Note 3. (Note 3 really surprised me outdoors)
6) No sdcard and battery, I know its not a con for some people but after using lot of galaxy phone am kind of used to have all my books
and movies on sdcard. Convenience can sometimes be a con for people like me.
7) On screen buttons look ugly while playing some games. Some people prefer this but I dont.
8) G2 somehow feels heavy and its around 140 grams approximately.
9) I have been waiting for an OTA update for so long , but with past history of LG not doing software updates quick enough, I really have
some reservations about their record.
NOTE 3 over LG G2 (Note 3 Pros)
1) Oh my God ! Screen is really beautiful and crisp, its like a small LED tv on your hand. Absolutely brilliant, not sure why I prefer this over G2 I
prefer actually reading news on Note 3.
2) Textured back and lightweight make it really really useful and this is only 24 or 28 grams more than G2. To my surprise I really liked
the leather textured plastic back which make note 3 easier to grip as well. Build quality is really good and no creaking noise anywhere.
3) Amoled screen, Watching hd movies on this screen is really great. Colour saturation can be a bit more on standard setting, but if you
choose professional mode you will see a lot of difference. May be am biased here but once you watch movies on Amoled screen, its difficult
to go back to LCD. I think the best display quality is HTC One, but htc one has got too many other headaches which am not going to
mention here.
4) Outdoor visibility really is nice now and I dont have to worry , its clear and actually better than G2.
5) S-Pen is really more useful now than before and the handwriting recognition improved quite a lot. This is really a very productive feature
if you really use Citrix xenapp and remote desktop to check office work extra. For me this is where S-Pen is really useful. Air view touch is
also nice.
6) Video recording quality is really very good when compared to G2, No auto focus issues and I have taken 4k recording and slow motion
videos and they are really good.
7) Camera picture quality for indoors is better than G2.
8) I have already got 3 OTA updates in a week and I guess this is where Samsung scores high marks and software updates are really quick
from Samsung compared to G2.
9) Speakers are good and better than G2.
10) Once you are used to Sdcard and the option of extra battery, its really hard to go back to the closed world. Old habits die hard.
Note 3 cons:
1) It feels big and is big. Sometimes my hands get tired if I try to use too long. I really wish width was a little lesser. But am negating this
issue by using gestures via 3rd party apps. But definitely feels bigger than G2.
2) If you are like me and use the phone on commuting in undergrounds, using with single hand can be difficult. This is where G2 scores
high.(G2 is also slippery but fits in hand)
3) Camera is OK in low light conditions, but not great. Not that impressed here. Default settings are changed in video mode and camera mode and its really annoying as I had to go through lot of settings to get it right.
4) They have removed some features like Popup browser, Eye Scrolling and Air view on browsers compared to Note 2. I don't use these
features other than popup browser but these features can be useful for others.
5) Bluetooth sound is low compared to G2.
6) Wifi quality and signal quality are always one bar lesser than G2.
Conclusion: After using both for a solid 2 weeks I have decided to go for NOTE 3. Ultimately the features for productivity, convenience of
sdcard and battery, display quality , and the timely software updates won me over the G2. And this is all for 50 pounds more.
Hope this might be helpful for some.
VJTechie
Well, if for you region locking is no problem, get what you like,
else dont buy a samsung device. Wait for custom roms. Knox security is an easy way to lose warranty if you flash any rom aswell.
I would go for note 3

iOcean G7 review

*Moved from different thread - this suits better*
Hello everyone,
just made this review about the iOcean G7 a while ago. I cannot post any links or videos yet so I made a small site, for the single purpose it looks a bit better and I can post the photo's and video I made. chinahardware.info/?page_id=9
I left out all the Antutu benchmark stuff, there is already plenty of that to be found. I hope someone finds it informative

Intro & Specifications
Welcome to this iOcean G7 review
The G7 is not the first phone of the Chinese iOcean company but definitely one with a new design. If you are not familiar with the iOcean company you can look up their website iocean.cc or go to their Facebook page. The phone that had put iOcean in the spotlights was the X7 Youth. It has (still) good specifications with a surprisingly low price, making it a very tempting choice. After the X7 Youth there were more ‘adult’ versions as the Turbo, Plus and Elite, all with different sets of specifications and prices. One thing remained: the design. All the X7 models are the same except for their internal hardware components. With the G7 the designers at iOcean made daring step. They slightly changed the design but more obvious: they changed the size of the phone. Where all X7 versions were enjoying a neat 5 inch FULL-HD display, the G7 has a gigantic screen size of 6.44 inch, technically making it a phablet (phone/tablet).
This devices comes with the latest of the MediaTek processors: the MT6592, an octacore processor with the Mali 450 GPU to support it with graphical applications.
My personal questions were if I would be enjoying carrying this colossal phone around and if the GPS-problems with the MediaTek MT6592 would finally come to an end.

Screen/Display
Let’s start with what is most obvious about the device when you see it: the enormous display. With a 6.44 inch display the G7 is one of the biggest devices I ever worked with. It is quite a bit bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
For the technicians amongst you: the devices comes with a Retina LTPS display and is an OGS, which stands for One Glass Solution. So the screen will be thin with good viewing angles. Since a large amount of the surface of the phone is consisting out of glass, I am glad they processed the screen with laminated glass, meaning it consists of two or more layers of glass and bonding interlayers before fused together though autoclave or chemically.
The above shows us that the display is big, thin, highly scratch-resistant and with the Retina LTPS it also means the display is bright and vivid. When the screen is on full brightness it is very useable in light areas and outside. I used it for a couple of days now and even on these sunny days I could easily read the screen.
This is supported with a stunning 1920×1080 resolution, granting the screen 342 pixels-per-inch. I used the iOcean X7 with 440 pixels-per-inch and I could see some difference but you would have to look closely and search for it. 342 PPI is still very impressive for a screen size this big and reading text is a real charm on this device. Giving the device a higher resolution screen would not benefit the price and the performance of the G7 and I personally think this was the right decision.
In the box I also found a screen protector which I applied directly but since the layered protection of the screen itself I think this is a personal choice.
Another bonus is the fact that you can operate the device wearing gloves or with wet hands. I found out these few days that the display is highly sensitive and I do no longer need my touch screen gloves in the winter which is a real big plus.
Camera
The camera of the G7 is even being used by iOcean to take photos of the new X8 model, which is coming up halfway in April, for their Facebook page. If the company itself is confident enough about the quality is has to say something, right? The G7 enjoys a 13 mega-pixel rear camera which out-of-the-box shoots at 9.5 mega-pixel. This is probably done to save memory and to quicken up the burst-shoot function. At 9.5 MP all photos will be more than sufficient for most uses: Facebook, Twitter, emailing them to friends/family, etc. Switching to 13 MP decreases the field of view as well a bit of speed in burst-mode but it is still very fast and it is barely noticeable. The front camera is 5 mega-pixel and can be used for conference and video calling or to make the much loved selfie. A trend is to not only increase the mega-pixels of the phone but also the aperture of the lens, meaning more light can travel inside which tends to produce better pictures.
I shot some pictures with the G7 myself and I can tell you they are of very good quality. I used different kind of settings; all photos taken inside were under medium-light conditions and outside it is clearly a sunny day. (They are shown on the website.)
One of the things I like to do with my phone is to watch videos on YouTube, mostly with other people. The low quality of the sound and especially the low maximum volume most of the other Chinese phone suffer from sometimes takes the fun away in doing that but with the G7 that will not be the case. The sound can be set to a very loud level while maintaining good quality with no distortion.
Now, something pleasant happened when I laid the phone on its back while playing music: sound actually got better! Thanks to a very smart design feature the G7 device does not fully touch the surface and thereby covering up the speaker grill. A small tab, looking a bit like a stub of the speaker grill, is attached so room is left between the surface and the device hence the sound waves can move freely. It gives a powerful and full sound which I have not heard with many devices. One small point could be that it makes the phone wiggle a bit when lain down but I highly doubt that would bother anyone.
Overall use & Connectivity
The biggest question for me was whether the G7 would fit in my pocket but even with the flip case it fits. Though it is completely understandable when someone would go for the somewhat smaller X7 or better the X8 in April. This is definitely not a one-handed device and both hands are needed to type. It is very useable for watch movies, series, YouTube and the like as reading and typing text. I am a forced user of the public transport every day and I use that time to read rapports for work, etc. Still not as comfortable as a good physical keyboard, on the 6.44 inch screen it is now also workable to edit and type text.
The overall build quality is very good with no plastic-squeaks, a strongly fit back cover and pretty narrow bezels. The only real point of criticism is that the three android control buttons on the chin of the phone do not lit up so in the dark. This may provide an issue when not completely familiar with the device.
The device supports all normal connectivity frequencies used in the West: for Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n for both 2.4G and 5G. For mobile internet: HSPA+ 900Mhz/2100Mhz WCDMA.
GPS
The GPS has been a problem with MediaTek devices since a long time and let me happily start by saying that the iOcean G7 gave me a GPS fix in 3 minutes. This was indoors without any connectivity and updated satellite positions. Outside the same set-up gave me a fix in about 40 seconds. Compared to more expensive and well-known mobile phones MediaTek will always lose the battle but for the average Chinese branded mobile phone user this will be a pretty welcome result.
Conclusion
The iOcean G7 is one of the biggest Chinese phones I have ever handled but also one of the better built and designed. The overall quality of the phone is very good, the camera shoots very worthy photos, the sound capabilities are amazing, playing most games is absolutely fun (no stuttering), display quality is very good at least to say, making the G7 a very enjoyable device for everyday use. Considering all this, the price is very reasonable. If you are looking for an affordable mobile phone with a big display, this is probably the one.
A good functioning GPS and a size that still fits my pocket: my questions are answered, how about yours? Please feel free to post comments or send me a message if you have any more questions.
You can also send me an e-mail: [email protected]
Or look up more information on the official iOcean Facebookpage! Please give them some support and click the ‘like’ button.

I am enjoying the use of the iocean G7. It maybe gigantic but it is not heavy.
Battery life is really good. For light use, you can get up to 4 days. For heavy use, you can get at least 2 days.
Does iocean use a "skinned" version of Android like sense or miui?

Its Android 4.2.2, I have not played with HTC or Miui but it feel like the standard Android. It came with Google Play Store and all the other apps. Don't think I see any Chinese apps.
It actually came rooted as well.

Hello,
My Iocean G7 battery lasts about 1 day (wifi and bluetooth always on).
I didn't find how to install CWM on it so I could do a wipe batterie's data.
Does someone has a CWM for Iocean G7 ?
Thanks
Yes a bit

I had no idea but I did a comparison for you. iOcean did use some sort of theme (not a entire skin) for their Android version but you can switch back to the standard Android look with 2 clicks (icon called Theme) does that.
I am using Themer now but in the video review on my website (chinahardware.info) you can still see the iOcean theme.
Does that answer your question?

Mine came with a small theme (mostly the icons were different) but I could switch back any moment.
Yours came rooted? Where did you buy your iOcean G7?

In Settings, under Device Administration, I got Superuser which I turn it on.
I bought my G7 from 1949deal - first time buying from them. Order on Thursday and shipped by DHL and arrived on Monday. I bought the brown case which I think is useless. Cannot find the slip-in case on your video.
I don't use Facebook/bluetooth and have turn off the gesture - thats why I think the battery life last so long.

You mean the orange case? Try Aliexpress.com It's a sideways flip-cover (bad quality btw).
Cannot find the Superuser setting you mentioned but I thought that will only appear when you root te phone, right?
How is the battery life on the phone? Better than other Android phones or just pretty similar?

I bought the orange case - its rubbish.
This guy has a slip case - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXMGeWo0W8Q which is like one of those for spectacles.
Not sure if it is 1949deal that rooted the phone before sending out. I learnt of it from the guy in the above video which is why I bought from the same seller as he did. He mentioned about it here - http://mtkforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=559&p=1929

Battery life depends on how you use it. It has a 3500 mAh battery - huge.
I don't use Facebook or bluetooth or push notification for my GMail. I use Whatsapp, Line, SMS and calls and some surfing.
For light use, I can get more than 3 day. For heavy use, I can get at least 2 days.

The led flash is strong - red light for Whatsapp and green for Line.
Camera is great - people were impress with it when I took photos in a recent vacation.
good day how to root iocean g7 please help.
Bluetooth
The bluetooth is horrible.
There is lag with the headphone bluetooth, sometimes does not pair with bluetooth on the car.
In others features this phone is really good.
I hope that in the next firmware the iocean improve the bluetooth.
G7 flash and recovery
Hey guys,
I am also a proud owner of my G7... I certainly do love it, at the moment I think I have to flash it to a more recent rom since it came with a 4.2.2.
I want to flash to latest but I dont have a custom recovery installed. Will the inbuilt recovery be fine enough?
I am guessing you guys have an idea of what the way to get a recovery and flash it actually... and I use linux with adb and fastboot installed and it can see my device too although I could get a windows computer is necessary.
Thanks

MIUI is always a good choice
http://www.needrom.com/download/miui-by-miuipro-ru-9/
FunTouch OS was also very good
http://www.needrom.com/download/g7-funtouch-os/
To install:
Step 1: From the links above: download the ROM you want and put it on a SD-card. Not in a folder but in the root of the SD-card. Put SD-card in phone
Step 2: Shut down your G7. Not restart but really shut down. Then:
– Power button + volume button up, to enter the recovery mode. (First hold volume up and then press power button and keep volume button pressed until you see the recovery menu)
– Wipe Data / Factory Reset -> delete all user data (use volume buttons to select)
– Wipe Cache Partition -> Wipe cache
Step 3: Return to recovery main interface Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> Select your ROM
Step 4: Brush complete, restart the phone Patience required – first boot takes a while

First hours with the s7 Edge G935F

First couple of hours with the s7 edge
Got the phone today and boy do I love this thing!
Here are some notes of the first few hours with this phone.
Model:G935F
Browser: this is seriously faster then my browser on my desktop!( no joke)
Have the addblock fast app integrated and my God it is fast!
Camera: only took one pic so can't really tell yet but the focus is instant!
Performance: this is one fast phone! The apps install quickly and you you can actually use the phone will it's installing without any hiccups. The RAM is good, keeping atleast 15+ medium heavy apps open. Also see the benchmarks I did(attach)
Design: it doesn't feel any bigger than my x S6, Samsung really nails the screen to ratio on this one! It's quite slippery and do get allot of FP on it but overall a gorgeous phone!
Battery: got it with 50% left I'm down to 27% ATM. Can't really tell yet but by all the tasks I did from start my old S6 would have lost nearly 50% after setup and this did it on 17% so I'm more then happy from what I've seen so far.
SW: I actually got a force restart when trying to bring Netflix in to the edge tasker but worked after the restart, I also noticed that it some time stutters for a millisecond when typing (samsung keyboard)but nothing overly disturbing. Seems like the SW isen't there quite yet but since the phone technically isen't released yet I'll just wait and see how it turns out, it need a tune up imo and hopping for a day 1 OTA. Otherwise it's really fluid and without any serious frame drops. Really like the AOS and the edge feat.
Sound: it's louder than the S6 and there is also a built in EQ which is a good feat! I tend to get a little more width from my old s6 with Bluetooth to my speaker which is a plus.
I can also hear the voice of the person more clear with the s7 and the speaker seems a little louder from the ear grill.
Reception: seems good, have 1 stapel more than I got with my former S6 on the same place's.
Note! I did NOT close any apps when I did the benchmarks and I also ran them after each other and also direct after installing them, as you can see in sling shot I'm at a little high thermal from start but nothing serious IMO. I also tested the phone with power saving mode on with geek bench and guess what?! It is more powerfully with the PS mode on then the S6 is with it off
Ran : quadrant,geek bench, slingshot 3.1
Yeah got mine today too and I absolutely love it. Haven't had a chance to play with the camera much. Was particularly keen on using the raw/pro mode. But coming from an LG G4 it isn't as good software wise. The LG G4 really did feel like a pro camera with easy sliders for shutter etc whereas the s7e is a bit more fiddly. Small gripe I know! Loving it so far though.
One very low light pic of my puddycat :victory:
Focus is 5x as fast in low light than the s6. Very good lowlight performance!
Off-topic: Is that a maine coon?
Thanks for the reviews guys, i'm getting this phone in a few days!
I know everyone is excited with the new release but can we try and stop all the duplicate threads please, there is already one here

Decision time! Is Mate 9 upgrade coming from S7/S7 Edge and other questions...

Hi guys,
It's decision time for me and would like to ask for your help knowing that you got real-world experience with Mate 9.
Background: Using now Galaxy S7 and before it I use to root and flash custom roms and tweak kernels but got tired from all that jazz. Now I just really want a fast phone, with big screen, great camera with great battery life that just work. So I got great offer from my mobile operator on European model Mate 9 and start thinking about it, as S7 got a small screen (for my liking and usage) and not so loud speaker (no bluetooth audio capabilities in my commute vehicle and love listening to podcasts while commute).
Questions:
1. Is it really fast or faster comparing to Pixel and Oneplus 3T? As speed is very important for me. Other variants that I am contemplating Oneplus 3T (but camera is concern and not stereo speaker is a minus)...
2. Is the screen really usable/great under daylight?
3. Are the speakers really loud (comparing to Galaxy S6, S7, HTC 10, LG V10 - this phones I got a experience with)?
4. Does the camera got better through the updates and is it fast at launching and focusing?
5. No way to double-tap-to-wake?
6. Is factory screen protector any good?
7. Does it slow down during the month of usage for you?
8. Notifications issue on European Models absolutely and completely gone for all EU users?
9. Signal + wifi signal any good? GPS any good?
10. Is it possible to go back to full and unrooted official stock rom after root?
11. Any news on 5.1 coming soon?
12. Ability to control apps auto-starts and apps auto-starts at boot?
13. Is there a performance mode present?
14. Any bending, build quality issues?
15. Fingerprint gestures?
16. How is touch sensitivity and the latency?
17. Are EU updates massively delayed comparing to other regions?
Wow. A lot of question I got here, but if I got the phone eventually I will update this post with answer to every question of mine.
I did read a lot of reviews and watch a lot of video review, but I value real user experience here on XDA most, not some reviewer that is getting the phone for free to review and changing phones constantly.
Thank in advance guys!

1. Fast enough.
2. Yes
3. Loud enough.
4. Camera good enough without update. Update only increases digital zoom. Recommend pro mode though. Launch speed and focus wise, S7 should be better.
5. Nope.
6. Decent. Still will get scratched.
7. Nope. May or may not stutter for a few apps. Maybe occasional stutters.
8. No notification issue for me. Using C636.
9. Signal not bad. Call did not drop even though have lousy reception. WiFi signal also decent.
10. Yes.
11. July?
12. Don't think so.
13. Nope.
14. Not for me since last year December.
15. Swipe down on fingerprint scanner for notification bar.
16. Touch sensitivity generally ok. Except for the left and right edge. Heard that it will be improved in emui 5.1.
17. EU is after Asia I think. Should not have massive delay.
2. Good even in bright sun.
6. Gets very greasy with fingermarks. There is also a back protector. I keep mine in a case so took both off.
9. Signal good. WiFi excellent. GPS OK for car use but has a number of issues.
14. Case is strong and well built but not waterproof.
16. No troubles with mine.
I upgraded month ago from S7E to Mate 9, and won't look back, the S7E looks like a toy that is waterproof
IP68, Samsung Pay, better low light performance is the advantages S7E has, and bigger development community, though it didn't make the phone much better in my XP( i tweak kernels and settings as well).
Forget battery anxiety with the mate 9, it will last no matter what u do, camera is better than S7 in normal light and some bokeh effects are amazing, screen is crisp and bright, and ye big, battery is great.
Settings are a bit puzzling but you'll used to it, my only complaint is that the speakers lose quality under full volume, could be better but the stereo speakers are good enough as it is, and better software argument, though EMUI 5.1 might solve it.
Coming from S7 Edge and LG G5, no way I go back. Love the brightness of the screen in sun, quick fingerprint reader. Great support by HiCare chat. Back cover the best I have found, even Leica leather cover cannot beat it.
Rest is answered!

Really mate, you have to be that grumpy guy? Did you read my post? That's what I wrote:
"I did read a lot of reviews and watch a lot of video review, but I value real user experience here on XDA most, not some reviewer that is getting the phone for free to review and changing phones constantly."
Not to mention that review sites and youtube bloggers are not using this phone for months like users here on XDA and did not buy the phone with their hard earned money and they are changing devices every week/every few weeks and they are not going deep into user experience like people using the device for 3-4 months and not getting through updated and so on, not to mention many of them are biased towards some brands.
I think that many other people are in front of the same choice like me and this thread will help them to take the decision to buy or not to buy this expensive and relatively unknown model/brand. Also if I buy the phone I will edit my first post and give my personal answers.
Anyway, have a nice day and be positive mate

1. Yes, the Kirin 960 SoC is one of the best around.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. Yes, 10x zoom added recently up from 6x. Very fast launch and focus.
5. No.
6. Opinions diverge. I find mine absolutely perfect.
7. Not in my experience.
8. I never had notification issues.
9. Signal is brilliant. GPS is perfect for car driving but you might find it not accurate enough if you're mapping a run.
10. I don't root so can't comment.
11. 5.1 beta is just an internal name. It will be released as 5.0 afaik. Nobody knows when.
12. Not that I know of.
13. There are 2 power saving modes. Performance mode is the normal mode.
14. None whatsoever.
15. Yes
16. Quite good in my opinion, but still room for improvement.
17. They're among the first to be released.

You should check the robin-egg color variant (available in china )
It is damn gorgeous
I'm using Honor 9 for a few days and everything is perfect
Overall 100% love for this phone.
Two thumbs up for this.
It's beautiful device with good specs and features..
Just loved it..
I had bought a Xiaomi Note 4X back in August in 36 monthly installments loan from the shop i work at.After i saw Honor 9 in blue , I had no hesitation...its on my desk now and yesterday the Note 4x was sold...
Amazing design , hidden power in a small package and very convenient fingerprint sensor !
I come from a Galaxy Note 3 that had custom roms for the last 2 years and I wanted to get a smaller phone.
Pros:
+Fingerprint Sensor
Incredibly fast and reliable
+Headphone Jack
+Value for money
+GPS - Very fast and stable
+4G, 3G, 2G all better than my Note 3
Mediocre:
+/-Design
This thing just look awsome and feels great but is is very slippery. You have to use a case or it will slide down your couch or nightstand 100 %.
That nills the super nice feature of a camera that is plain with the backcover.
Great idea to have the volume rocker and the power button on the same side
+/- Build quality
Overall really nice but you can feel some edges where the materials meet and the buttons are a bit wobbly, nothing to worry about though.
+/- Notification LED
Ok, it is there, but the settings limit it very much. You can not effin turn it off while your phone is charging, resulting in a night-light next to you when you charge at night.
Nicely hidden under the mesh of the ear speaker.
+/- Camera
Aparture 2.2 is just not state of the art anymore. At night the pictures are hideous.
2x zoom combines the colour and monochrome sensor with minimal detail loss at day but at night the pictures do not look good (also unzoomed)
Good day shots with poor edge detection for the bokeh effect, some nice and unique setting options in the camera menu
+/- Speaker
Yeah, Stereo speakers are still the best you can get but compared to my Note 3 the speaker is a huge improvement and sounds pretty good
+-/ Headphone jack position.
It is on the bottom of the phone, would have beed nice if they found a way to put it on top but that is a matter of taste I guess
Cons:
-Screen
Coming from a Note 3 (launched 2013) with an AMOLED the screen is really a let down for me.
Especially on low brightness it is not as comfortable for your eyes as the Note 3 screen and pixels are clearly visable altough it is much small an has the same resolution.
Double tab to wake is missing (was available on the honor 7)
Max brightness is OK but not top (definity enough in 99 % of all use cases)
Blacks look quite good for an LCD
Good viewing angles
- Front Camera
"Beauty" filter can not be turned of fully
Very low quality sensor
-No IP certification - your H9 will definitely die in water over time but should survive the toilet drop of doom if you are quick enough to get it out
Nogo:
-Software
Bought with B130 Firmware, now on B180 and there is a major issue with the touch screen as you can read here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/help/scrolling-delay-t3665877
If this is a hardware and not a software but it is even worse
Also scrolling is not smooth and you get jump-loading, most clearly visable on the 9gag app.
This bothers me less than the scrolling delay but it is still a major issue, as the hardware should be capable of perfect smooth scrolling with ease.
No option to wake but not unlock your phone with the fingerprint sensor. Either you unlock it and come to the homescreen with a safed finger ID or if the finger ID is not saved or recognised (what very rarely happens) the phone just vibrates but the screen stays black
I swidched from Honor 7 and well, I can't get used to the larger height and I'm missing soft navigation bar too. The home button and top of screen are too far away, which makes it difficult to use it. It is really pitty, that soft navigation bar cannot be enabled
Honor 9 is amazing device worked fanstastic speed!
Camera is beast on new software B180 on video record is on software stabilization on huawei and is very good!
Photos is best!
Perfromacnce / Design / Battery is very nice phone!
Better P10 And P10 Plus / 6 ram version on h9 for plus!
The smaller form factor and the powerful specs on the Honor 9 make it one of my favorite Honor phones.
