You will need to provide more information, including the specific model of Moto G, your current software version, and carrier. Not all versions and combinations will be unlockable.

Login to Motorola support and email them, they can help. Apparently they have issues with the system. Others have had the same problem.

bought a used xt925.
How do I check if my bootloader is unlocked? Is there any way to unlock this device without going through Motorola?

You can check in the AP Fastboot screen. It will say unlocked if the BL is unlocked. You can try the UL exploit, as this is a 925, but I'm not sure it would work. Why not go through Moto?

The most obvious way to know if it's unlocked is whether the phone shows a "Bootloader Unlocked" warning on boot. If that's not shown, @RikRong told the way -- AP Fastboot.
Hi, I wanted to unlock the bootloader of my device but on the Sony website it says that I should be on a specific firmware but I've already upgraded from that firmware and don't plan on downgrading. Can I continue unlocking the bootloader?

Hey,
I also had this "Problem" saying I have to be on a Specific Firmware. But my Phone came out of the Box with a Newer Firmware. But you can continue Unlocking your Bootloader without downgrading i did it too and it worked.

As far as Osprey/Merlin goes, I believe all of them can be. You can make an account over at Motorola's developer website, and enter the phone info they ask for after logging in. If it can be unlocked, they will tell you and gladly send you the unlock key and instructions if you agree to their conditions. Just Google "Motorola bootloader unlock" you'll find what you're after.
never mind im dumb and messed up the unlock data.
Hi. What variant do you have? Some carrier versions can't be unlocked.

Yeah, that's the one I have (which turns out to be "Verizon's model"), yet I have consistently received the message stating that it is "not eligible for bootloader unlocking." Sadly, I specifically made sure that the phone was rootable before purchasing it, but that does not appear to be the case.
Is this (XT1955-6) the same model that you have?
