I have taken the first OTA update from VRUFNK1 to VRUFNK4 and have lost root. Not thinking I tried to flash OC1 and it failed probably due to disabled KNOX. am back to a working but non-rooted VRUFNK4
I realize that to flash to OC1 I will need to root first and probably do a full firmware flash from a PC to overwrite the Missing/disabled files.
My question is how can I go about restoring root and upgrading to OC1? Will I have to flash back to VRUFNK1 and root first? Please help as I am not so similar with the newer methods.
Hi there,
The best place for this device specific question is here but first you need top register an account on XDA:

I was able to load CWM and load a new rom on an older build of the AT&T Galaxy S4, but since the update to 4.4.4./NJ4 I cannot get my second device to load CWM. I receive no errors when running Loki, I just cannot seem to get the recovery to boot - I endlessly receive the stock recovery loader.
Are there any tricks I may be missing?

I made another thread about this but found this section and decided it was a better area to post.
Well I tried using Odin to flash my phone before rooting and now I get an error that says "Unauthorized actions have been detected. Tap here for more information."
I have the Verizon S4 and im just looking for some help on getting a quick root to my phone. TowelRoot doesn't seem to be supported by my phone.

Yes, similar things happened for the TowelRoot on the S5 too.
Here is the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 General [HOW TO] [ROOT] [APK] Root for NC5 OTA (All Kitkat devices) without PC!!! thread.
It also refers to TowelRoot app, which only works on older firmware versions ... unfortunately no longer on latest versions. (As they have the respective exploit patched.)
And the Verzion S4 has a locked bootloader. That's why you can't flash a custom recovery etc. with Odin.
A possibe solution coud be to "downgrade" to an older firmware (or kernel) and then root it with TowelRoot.
EDIT: I see that you have already asked in the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
That's the right place. Be patient and wait for a better advice from there.

So, I bought this at&t Galaxy S3 with leaked UCUEMJ2 (I assume) then I tried factory resetting it. It didn't boot up after the at&t logo. I tried flashing stock 4.1.1 which was risky but odin failed in it. I also tried reflashing UCUEMJ2 and Cyanogenmod, both stucked on the starting logo. Downloading mode shows something like Warranty bit:1 with red letters which is related to knox, I suppose. Please help, I just want my phone to work no matter which rom.

I am currently using Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 model: SM-G7102, stock rom, stock recovery and never rooted.
I am facing problem like system crash, phone creating shortcuts icons by itself and wifi turning on and off itself, its like android firmware is corrupted.
I wanted to use odin to flash a new fresh official firmware but soon figured out that i also can't connect my phone to odin and neither Samsung Kies due to usb driver problem (pc is unable to install CDC serial driver) I also tried different usb cables and different Pcs but still no luck.
I was wondering is there any way to flash a new official firmware using stock recovery or any other method ?
Any help is appreciated
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist.
AFAIK all Samsung Galaxy devices have to use Odin to flash stock firmwares.
