[Resolved] Can't go into fastboot! (PLEASE HELP) - General Questions and Answers

I left my phone on in fastboot mode. The battery drained completely and the phone shut off. Now I can't go to fastboot mode. I hold Vol+ Vol- and Power in the same time. The screen turns on (still black) and after 5 minutes the phone boots up.
Please help!
(The phone is functioning fine, except fastboot)
EDIT: I'm very sorry. The problem has fixed itself.

Clamp the keys - no reaction. Battery is charged. Hold the power button longer than a minute - nothing. On charge indicator lights and nothing too.

My phone sometimes is completely discharged all of a sudden. Takes about half a minute of charging to get back being able to turn it on again, still connected to the charger. Maybe happened to you? Try connecting it to a powered charger and try turning it on again...

Can you get back to the bootloader screen? (hold vol down + power) If you can, you can get to fastboot and push a different recovery/kernel/rom/whatever you need from the PC (fastboot.exe probably will detect your phone if it's in fastboot mode).

No, when i hold Power (or vol down + power), phone doesn't do anything, screen doesn't light up, no vibration, no any reaction. So i can't get to hboot or fastboot.
Your phone is DEAD.. might be some issue with hardware
when you hold pwr and vol- for 10 secs or so, you must release power and keep holding vol-
just checkin since you didn't mention that
can you use fastboot commands
did u fix it?

There are problems entering HBoot sometimes. Try to enter it via your computer. Plug your phone into computer and use the command "adb reboot-bootloader" twice. You should get to the bootloader

If you're phone is read as an mtp device that means it's not dead and the rom is loaded. The screen is black I take it and won't come on?
reboot to bootloader
either using adb (adb reboot bootloader)
or
manually (hold power button until capacitive buttons blink a bunch of times and the phone shuts off then let go of power and press and hold volume until bootloader comes on)
If you still can't see the screen while in bootloader, then your screen is dead.

Are you saying the buttons are actually not working properly?
MTP mode plays havoc with adb, and sometimes fastboot. Of course, if you are not able to access recovery, adb, or fastboot, you are in a very tough spot.
Is the device S-off or S-on?

Nexus 5 stuck in boot loop and cant access boot loader

i flashed the latest nightly of AOKP today and then restored all my apps and data with titanium backup. When the restore was complete it prompted me to reboot my device so i did. ever since then i have been unable to reboot my phone as it is stuck on the start up screen. i then tried to restore from a backup of my other rom and then found out that i couldn't boot into the boot loader as when i held down the power and + volume button the startup would begin and then the phone would turn off. any ideas on how to fix this.
What it's happening is your stuck in a boot loop.
When you are holding power and volume down the phone is only interested in the power button part. Which is why it's powering off.
Just keep the buttons held both power and volume down. When it powers off keep them held and you should come into the bootloader

I have tried that but it just goes tocthe Google screen then turns off again

Not sure if the quote is a typo or not, but it should be power and - volume. You can also try power and both volume buttons, which will take you to the secondary boot loader.

I assumed the op was able to completely power down by just continuing to hold the power button and possibly had the wrong button combo.

Hi guys.
Sorry for bumping but I have the same issue and for me it wasn't fixed by going in recovery mode. I already tried deleting cash, and even tried getting back to factory settings. But still, when i restart the phone, the same loop keeps occuring.
At first it always just went to 'google' and then rebooted and rebooted. Now it just keeps stuck with the google logo (the 4 colour image).
Could someone help me possibly?
Thanks in advance

Hi Kevin,
Try LG flashtool. Link in my signature. If you have the 32GB version of the american nexus 5 (D820) you can use the converted firmware without any problem. It was tested numerous time.
You can also try to reflash stock google rom in fastboot mode http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
If you are using LG flashtool and you get error about cant format userdata and/or cache or by checking the flashing log you see timeout errors then your phone have a fauilty emmc. If you are using the fastboot method and you see "remote: flash write failure" text in the CMD window then you have fauilty emmc. Your only option is to rma your phone if bought from google or claim your warranty from LG if your phone is not from Google and you have the receipt of your phone.

[q] [help]nexus 5 stuck. 5.0.1. Stuck while booting.

Hey there,
I am Nexus 5 user. Recently I updated my phone to Lolipop 5.0.1. At first the phone worked fine. A few days later the background apps started restarting. That was still manageable. A week back the phone started restarting. So I read about in a Google Forum, it advised to delete partition cache from the 'Recovery Mode' . I did so. It worked and phone stopped restarting. Now a week later the problem started again. So I wiped partition cache. But during the process the battery ran out and the phone switched off.
Now when I try to switch on the phone, the Google logo appears and then the phone freezes in the boot animation.
The phone boots into bootloader(power button + volume up + volume down), but when I try to get into Recovery Mode, an android is displayed with a red exclamation mark.
The bootloader is locked, so I can't flash the original image.
Need help to get the phone back.
Additional info about the device:
a. Nexus 5 32GB
b. Lolipop 5.0.1
c. Locked bootloader/ unrooted
d. Still in warranty.
The dead android is recovery mode. When you see that press and hold the power button then press and release vol up. Try a factory reset in there. Note, it will wipe your device so backup first if you can.

I think you're going to have to unlock the bootloader and flash the factory image. If that doesn't work then you have a hardware issue.

If it doesn't turn on there is nothing you can do. You need to be able to boot into the bootloader. Usb debugging doesn't matter. You don't need it on to run fastboot commands.

Google 15 second adb install xda. That'll setup adb and fastboot on your pc. Then boot the device into the bootloader, open a command window on your pc and then with your device connected via usb cable type into the command window

You don't need to get into recovery. Boot into the bootloader, unlock it, then flash the factory image. All that is done in the bootloader, not recovery.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
There is little confusion here @ShobhitJethani. Let's make things clear.
Bootloader mode (or fastboot mode) is when you press and hold volume_down+power keys.
Recovery mode is when you select the recovery mode with the power key in the bootloader mode.
To enable the menu options in stock recovery you have to PRESS and HOLD the POWER key and while you do that you just PRESS the VOLUME_UP key and then you RELEASE the VOLUME_UP key and then you can RELEASE the POWER key too.
What you did is starting to press and hold volume _up and power keys at the same time which is wrong.
Also, to unlock bootloader you just have to put the phone to bootloader mode. You dont have to do anything special before that.
I hope you now understand.
I somehow managed to remove the tamper flag and then gave it to the service center. They flashed KitKat on the phone. And now I also have updated my phone to 5.1 OTA. Thanks to everyone for trying to help me.
