How to root samsung galaxy note 4 and install cwm…: http://youtu.be/x1_q9DL53wo
Anyone able to confirm or deny that it would be possible to do so? I will be getting the edge when it drops for AT&T would just like to know everyone's thought on this. Seeing how the note 4 and the note edge will have the same internals, it may be safe to assume that if this can be confirmed, we should be able to have a one click solution. I'm excited and waiting to get my hands on this awesome device.
You should know better then this.
The phone isn't even out yet. And that's a slide show not even a video.

Towelroot has been dead since a couple of weeks that it came out. The security has been patched your best bet is for chainfire to root although AT&T bootloader will be locked
Does not work on Att Note Edge 4.4. Says not compatible

It won't work.
This is for linux kernel 3.4.
Note Edge has linux kernel 3.10
Yeah, I can see that. Towel root, and kingo root, do nothing. Kingo try to root a bunch of different ways. Reboots the phone a few times. I've been watching the note 4 threads like a hawk. If someone was able to get a safe strap kind of thing working that would be fantastic. I just want root for xsposed and other awesome root apps. I remember when I got the note 3, it was a wait to finally get a root option. I'm sure sir Awesomeness Chainfire will come up with something. Till then I guess we have to wait. Still enjoy the phone and all the gawking people that want to see it.
http://www.oneclickroot.com/device/samsung-galaxy-note-edge-sm-n915a-att-kitkat/ so this came up in my daily search of the elusive root options for att users. Anyone able to confirm or deny that this would work? I have the .exe file and am kinda afraid to pull the trigger and see what happens. Sooooooooo if anyone wants to try it out and let the rest of us now how it went, that would be great.

Having never had a Samsung device before, I might be turning to the S6 Edge once it's released to replace my ageing Nexus 5 but I have a few questions that can put me off and was wondering if you guys can clarify them for me.
1) Does the 'international' version come with a locked or unlocked bootloader (i.e. if I were to buy it off of Amazon UK). If locked, how easy is it to unlock the bootloader on previous Samsung phones? This probably also voids warranty unlike the Nexus and HTC right?
2) How easy has it been to root Samsung phones in the past?
3) What does having an Exynos processor mean (in terms of modding)? Will that make it harder to root? harder to unlock bootloader? Not being able to Install Stock Vanilla Android ROM?
4) Finally, I've played around with a couple of friend's Samsungs (Note 3,4, S5,S4) and I absolutely hate TouchWiz.. It just looks ugly. How easy is it to get rid of it all together, including sounds, menus, etc. (either by installing Stock Android ROM) or by removing these components from TouchWiz ROM?
5) To sum up. Ideally I'd like to have Vanilla Android Lollipop with an unlocked bootloader and root, and customize as I like; do you think this would be possible? What would the tradeoffs?
I hope my questions are clear! If they aren't please let me know to clarify them further.

1. We don't really know yet. As far as I know all previous international models of the Galaxy S phones had unlocked bootloaders.
2. With my S2 and S4 it has been really easy to root. I don't expect real problems here.
3. Here's where it gets tricky. Exynos processors made it harder to create AOSP roms due to the closed-source nature of the kernel. I expect there to be no change there.
4. Well, custom roms may be able to help here. They may be able to tweak the UI, remove bloatware or even change the whole UI. Perhaps a stable AOSP port will be created, it's too early to tell yet.
5. If you want an AOSP rom, I'm not sure if the S6 is what you're looking for. A Nexus device would be ideal or you can look at the HTC One M9. If you can live with a Touchwiz based rom, you shouldn't have any problems here.
This is just my view on this all. There may be others who can shed some light on it.
From what I understood, rooting your Samsung allows you to remove quite alot of the TouchWiz bloat. Is it possible to also get rid of the UI they stick ontop of Stock Android or is that baked in?

Well, there is a difference between Touchwiz and the pre-installed applications. Touchwiz is the whole look&feel with the modified applications. This means a modded email client, dialer, contacts app, settings, launcher, power menu, etc.
While you can remove some applications while rooted (for example the Samsung Store), you can't modify the looks like the power menu, settings, top bar with the clock, etc.. This is baked into the rom itself.
Regarding the email, dialer, launcher and contacts apps, you can download and use third-party apps for that. This will make it look at lot better, but it won't fix everything.
I guess now that Xposed has been released for Lollipop ART as soon as Rovo manages to fix it for Samsung ROMs, that will also allow changing the UI on the TouchWiz ROM substantially right?
well, i hate samsung when will get modify the handset
if someone will succeed root samsung device, it must be can't claim on samsung service centre
well, i just have old exynos from S4/S5, we don't know yet S6 comes with exynos 14nm
hope developers will make it later
Samsung added themes to the s6
Samsung added themes in the s6 so you can change the look and feel of the device.

Rooting Galaxy S6
Hey all,
I am new to posting on XDA. I've seen similar post throughout XDA but nothing that really answers my questions. I recently purchased the S6 and I'd like to root it. I don't want to install custom ROMs all I want is root access for mods that might require that. I have the international variant SM-G920F.
I don't really care about being able to pay using my phone.
1) Most posts claim that I won't be able to update over the air (OTA), is that true? If so is there any luck that this will change in the near future?
2) What root method do you suggest? In terms of ease of use.
3) Mods. What mods do you suggest?
Thank you,
Need to SIM unlock a Galaxy S6
I purchased my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) from Best Buy to be used with AT&T. This was after 2 AT&T employees and a Best Buy employee told me that getting the unlock code is very easy and straightforward. I have been to the web site to request unlock codes twice. Both times failed. After that I called and they told me, effectively, that my phone is too new. Due to this they require 6 months of paid service before they will consider unlocking it. I am due to leave the country in 4 months. I need to get this phone unlocked... Can anyone tell me how to proceed?
P.S. I am a computer programmer with a lot of experience. I already have the phone in developer mode with the ADB activated. I have the android developers toolkit installed and ready to go. I mention this just so anyone responding will have some idea of the technical level they can use when replying.

What you will get, eventually, from ATT is a carrier unlock code that will allow you to use foreign carrier sim cards for service. This is not a bootloader unlock.

1. This is a SIM Unlock, not a bootloader unlock. This will let you use your phone with other supported carriers, not unlock your bootloader.
2. If this is your intention, however, AT&T will only unlock the phone if you've completed your contract obligations with the line your phone is tied to. If you're under contract, you can't get it fully unlocked. However, if you tell them you need it internationally unlocked, they should be able to give you a different unlock code to get that to work. Try giving CS a ring and explain you need it unlocked for abroad, not for the US.
I have been trying the official routes to do the unlock

I have tried the official routes (web site and phone) and been denied. They basically told me that while I own the phone, and owe them no money of any kind, the phone is too new. They are demanding 6 months of paid service to release the phone that I already own!
Unlock 5 minute 4K recording (Docomo Galaxy S6)
Just bought me the shiny new S6 and love everything about it except one thing; the 5 minute limit to 4K recording. Are there any apps that will let me record for longer durations, or is there a mod out there I need to use?
Thanks in advance.

Any chance that you could download the QCN files from your phone so that I could use it in mine? That would really be awesome for me.
I have a Note 4, international.......not working good in Japan.
Please , if you or someone you Know , sold a Samsung Gear S2 on Amazon Warehouse Deals I need you to unlock it, it could be the one I bought.
Thanks
Hi, my name is Cesar and I live in Argentina. My parents bought me a Samsung Gear S2 when they went to New York Last Month.
When we were looking for the price i found a deal on Amazon Warehouse for 40 dolars less, so i told them to bought that one.
It has been a couple of weeks trying to pair it whith my phone, talking to Amazon Coustomer Service, to Samsung Coustomer Service here and in the USA and the only solution is to find the previous owner and he/she unlock it
Please, I really need your help to diffuse this message.
Thanks
PS: if anybody needs pictures of the phone or the Amazon bill please let me know.
I bought and returned one, and I know that I I didn't unlock it (didn't realize I needed to). I doubt my returned S2 is yours, but I don't even know how to unlock it from my Samsung account!

Aparently you only have to sing in in Samsung web page, go to your products and remove it
It`s seems easy, please let me know
Thanks
I don't even see it as an option when I log into my Samsung account from a web browser - I see other devices - such as tablets and older phones. I do see my current phone listed which is currently paired with the S2, But no Gear S2 is listed on the Samsung Find My Mobile account.
There's no easy way to find out if reactivation lock is enabled - there is no more security option in settings. When I first got the watch, I distinctly remember not enabling that feature - but after subsequent resets of the watch (for testing) I was unsure if I had enabled it at one point. I eventually found a way - if you attempt to reset the watch, it will say in the warning message - that reactivation lock has been enabled for the watch.
Yes, I have tried like a thousand times, i really don´t know what else to do.
In The Samsung web it´s a way to unable it but you need the gear app for the phone i think.
I´m getting very dissapointed with this, it´s looks like a great whatch bue I have it in a box, it really sucks.
Have you found a way to fix the issue. I have the same issue
Reactivation lock problem
I tried by remving the product under my product list but its not getting removed.., can anyone tell me about this
My brother buyed samsung gear s2 silver clr for me he also have one black clr model with him. He seted up my watch with his account now and he sent me recetly few days back now when i try to login with his account its saying reactivation lock is on.., i am so confused not even knowing why its showing that error no.one except him setted up this watch before please expalin me if anyone knows about this
I've just gotten myself onto a Galaxy S7 for my carrier with Nougat installed. I happen to like the looks of this version and have no consideration to update to Android Oreo (8.0). But this looks to be a forced update. I have merely avoided this by just not connecting to wifi, however this makes me unable to use the samsung cloud without using mobile data to backup pictures and content. The only way I could perform disabling the update was through rooting the device, which I did not like having to do at all. It only brought complications to the devices run patterns etc.
As well I have also searched everywhere to find a way to disable the update service without rooting, even as far as Package Disabler Pro however it seems the developer was forced by samsung to disable this capability during the Note 7 Era. Even trying to use an Older Version of PDP failed because of the License Verification.
So I have come here to ask, Has anyone at all ever found a way to stop the update service from forcibly downloading the update when connected to wifi and forcing the device to update whatsoever, without Rooting the Device. Your knowledge and advice would be highly appreciated

Wow this is disappointing. I'm in the same position. I unintentionally tapped update vs, wait and now it asks me several times a day.
I didn't have any of these issues with my S5. Since when does samsung force their customers to update? Seems to me samsung still owns my phone after I paid for it. If I wanted this crap, I would have bought an apple. i can't believe everyone is ok with this? Not even a data toggle switch anymore. I had to use ADB to put this back. My S5 was able to multi-task and my S7 can't. Further my 5 can get on wifi faster. None of this should be possible.

I guess theres no solution to this then other than rooting the device sadly. I was forced to root it and I used the root method that requires no having to tweak the kernel so its been going pretty good for now. But yes indeed even my Galaxy S4 is faster than my s7 now in some cases. But the only thing I can see the issue with is now I hate having to restart my S7 when im using it because it takes like a minute or two to fully load up everything. Feels like im using a PC and not a phone
any luck ?
Samsung wallet sucks, I can't get it to work without giving it my biometrics and I'm not going to do that. How can I go back to Samsung pay and get that to work again or get rid of Samsung completely and make Google pay work with the swipe up on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra? Thanks
No intelligent people on this forum anymore? Well anyway if anyone else has this problem i discovered a workaround, just launch Samsung pay from the watch and it works, opens Samsung pay on the phone, won't work if you launch from the phone app anymore however, that opens the **** wallet app. If anyone ever figures it out let me know, thanks
