Is there Android launcher with soft shadows under the icons on homescreen(s) - like on this ipad:

It seams the latest iOS doesn't have those shadows any more...
Icons with (soft) shadows
"It seams the latest iOS doesn't have those shadows any more... "
... which is the main reason why iOS looks like crap nowadays.
... and why Samsung's TouchWiz on S3, S4 and S6 look so nice
... and why TouchWiz on the S5 looks so bad
It strikes me that 1) no one has noticed this and 2) that none o/t 3rd party launchers has soft-shadows under their icons (although I've noticed that it has been requested many times on e.g. Nova and Apex. Even the TW-look-a-likes don't have soft-shadows
Weird, isn't it?
Their are a few icon packs with (crude) shadows e.g.
Naxos Round Icon Pack (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobilegeek.naxosflatround) also available in a rectangular version
Shadow theme (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.shadow.free)
Simplex Icons (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mac.simplexicons)
Of which the last one (Simplex) has IMHO the best drawn shadows though I don't like the white rounded rectangles.
Simple (but detailed) kitkat, JB or Holo icons with soft shadows (and none of that ugly flat stuff)... come on guys. Who can do it?

Didn't install it but as far as I can see, there are no shadows under icons. Maybe you didn't understand - I don't want launcher like iOS launcher, I just want normal Android launcher but with shadows under icons.

Ok, so basically this is a sorta home screen (hs) theme that I made. I wanted the clock and all the other widgets to sorta blend in with the background and add to the picture as if it was really there... and this was my creation:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note: The left screen was left blank for you to fill in with whatever you want. I have my quick contacts there (which is why it's blank - for privacy reasons) and they blend in pretty well also .
In any case, the theme is made up of a few things:
Background image - bg.jpg
Analog Clock - G_TowerClock.cab
Mail/SMS mod - G_Mail-SMS mod.cab
Weather - Co0kie's weather widget- install that also and place it halfway between the first and second screen.
Just install those two files and set up the background image (very wide!) and you're set to go
For those who were wondering, I use 3 levels, so my first level (0) is like my regular HTC sense homescreen, the 2nd (1) is always something impressive [this ], and the 3rd is always quick links.
Cheers!

Thats pretty cool
Good job man.........
Indeed, a cool & personal theme Great job
So now you almost have two themes if you extend your Geek Clock to a Geek Theme

Lol yea I have my Ultimate Geek Redesign (in my signature) which is basically an unifinished theme that I want to continue adding to, because, quite frankly, whenever I show people it they laugh
For those of you who own the Ideos u8150:
Have you noticed that the text from widgets such as Minimalist Text and SiMi Clock look bad displayed on your screen? I have tested these widgets using many launchers (default, Zeam, Launcher Pro) and the only one that these widgets look good on is ADW.Launcher. Other launchers show a pixelated dark shadow around the text which looks bad on transparent background. Anyone know why this happens?
My guess is that the widgets were designed for 320x480 screens and the launcher app is having to re-size them to fit the 240x320 u8150 screen. ADW Launcher seems to handle the resizing great while the other launchers don't. Was hoping someone out there knew of a fix that will allow these widgets to look great with other launchers.
My current ROM is FusionIdeos 1.98. This may be the root of the problem but I doubt it.
See my examples:
The first pic is how SiMi Clock looks with default, Zeam, and Launcher Pro launchers. Notice the dark color around the white text. The second picture is SiMi Clock with ADW.Launcher. It looks great with it. No dark pixelated color around white text.

Never noticed this myself, but from your pics the difference can be seen. I think your theory about screen size is correct.
PS. Plz share the wall paper, thnx
I don't think I saw a thread for this phone, if there is my apologies if not

As you can see in the screenshot, after modifying the DPI to something more realistic and not comedic, the UI adjusted perfect except it didn't center the all apps icon above the home button. I'm wondering how this could be fixed through maybe a mod or something.
I do not want a new launcher that doesn't have Google Search built in. Its not the same stock experience. Any idea what I should do?

Depends what you are trying to do. Are you trying to get more docked icons at the bottom, or the main grid on the launcher. Basically, what I did is I changed my DPI to 439 (wanted 445, but notifications get cut off in the pulldown bar). This is ideal for me and gives me an app drawer grid of 5x6. However, the launcher grid stayed the same, so I used the Launcher Tweaks settings in Gravity Box to customize the launcher grid to 5x5. Now, I still only have 4 apps in the dock tray on the bottom (plus the app drawer icon in the middle), but I do have a 5x5 grid on the homescreen. It looks like it came from the factory this way.
My goto launcher for this phone is TSF. Having used it on previous phones, I was disappointed with the stock launcher, looking too drab and granted, this isn't Maze Alpha specific but I feel a launcher can and does compliment any phone. For the MA, it's the perfect addon/theme/app/mod.
It looks great
It functions flawlessly
Has great features
My setup is to remove the clouds, make the clock a bit smaller, remove the floating button and change all effects to random. I am split on whether to grid (not sure it's possible) or leave the icon placement free.
But is there a better launcher ? I have tried many over time but none compare to TSF. I didn't realise until a few days ago there are official addons for the TSF launcher from the same people who make it too.

Microsoft Launch works better followed by Nova Launcher. I like the level of customization and performance they both provided.
Hi PJA, if you take a look at this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/maze-alpha/development/original-rom-t3720714
You see I had issues with MS launcher, that still isnt resolved.
Oh, okay! There are issues with Microsoft Launch, notwithstanding, it is still a better Launcher among many others I have tried. I am rocking it on Maze Alpha presently.
When i installed it, my long press for recent tasks stopped working. I have since factory reset my phone twice and it still isnt working.
You can try the latest Microsoft Launcher - many of the bugs and issues have been fixed..
I use the lawnchair launcher:
https://github.com/LawnchairLauncher/Lawnchair/tree/alpha
Use the Version from GITHUB not the one from the PlayStore.
It is really a very nice launcher with Google New News Feed.
Runs perfect on the Maze Alpha X.
Best regards,
Kai
