I have recently moved over to use Android full time - I've come from iOS.
My Sony Xperia M2's battery is acting weird.
I checked the health of the battery and it says "good" however..
When I charge my Sony Xperia M2, it doesn't go up until 100% - it will stay at 98%.
I turn it on and off several times and then it says full.
When I downgraded to 4.3 and rooted, this problem didn't arise.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have tried the calibration trick and it's still happening. I'm on the latest KitKat 4.4.4 D2303.
PS: It just said "100% full" so I left it unplugged for 15 minutes, come back and it's on 98%?
Mines always been like this since kk update. My M2 Will easily last all day it rarely goes upto [email protected]% when Charging though I think it's could be the battery used since it reached full charge as don't modern phones stop charging when reaching full capacity to protect the battery and this 2% is the difference between fully charged and unplugging the charger.

Ok, so over the past couple of weeks I've had more than a few occasions where my battery will drain very rapidly.
It happened again tonight, and I watched the battery % indicator drop from 48 to 15 over the course of about 15-20 mins. Once it hit 15 it then shut down completely, apparently completely drained, as I put it back on charge and it restarted charging from 0%.
I got the 5.1.1 ota update (Stock EE UK rom) last week, but it's been no help.
I've attached a screenshot of the battery usage. On screen time has been about 3 hrs today.
Anyone any ideas? Would it be worth rooting, or is it a dud battery?
Also, using the Nova launcher BTW.
Well. I haven't that problem but got a very similar.one was charging.
My phone had battery dead and the plugged the fast charge when it was off. The charging image displayed the battery in 8% after a few minutes as normal, but when I powered the device the battery indicated that was charge at 56%. I was shocked and immediately thought that battery had a problem. Then I used the device hard to get the battery drained but was normally going down. Then restarted device and the battery indicated 18%, much closer to the real charge.
Anyway, I had this issue on my old SGS3 and then remembered that I had to delete cache from recovery. Once I made it the battery started to work normally.
The fact is that I'm on G920I with the Indian sotck version of 5.1.1 and I never had rooted or flashed my SGS6 afraid of tripping Knox. So I recommend that you. Delete cache from recovery and check battery. If the problem persists definitely your device is bad.
You may have a defective battery. Return your S6 back to Samsung for battery warranty replacement.
Poor battery life on a rooted phone
Hi guys, I just bought a z3 from a friend, and I have some battery problem
On 5.1.1, my battery only last for a day, which is under my expectation for the z3. Note that I only use my phone when necessary, location, mobile data, nfc, bluetooth, wifi are always off when I don't need them. I lend my mother's z3v and its battery life was excellent, I compared the 2 phone by watching a youtube clip for 10 minutes, with only wifi on, the z3v only lost 1% battery while my z3 lost 3-4% each time. But according to cnet (sorry I can't post links yet), the z3's battery have a slight edge over the z3v. Why is this happening?
Anyway, I downgrade my z3 to kitkat, rooted it, install setcpu, greenify, wakelocks detector, I also use disable service. Like before, all the phone functions are off when I don't need them, all unnecessary apps are deleted. However, my phone battery is still nowhere near the non-rooted z3v. I have a feeling that the battery drain faster below 85%, when it reached 15%, it loses 1% every 30 seconds. Moreover, the z3v only loses 1% over night (sometimes not at all) in airplane mode, while my z3 loses about 3-4%.
What do you guys think? Is this a problem with the phone's battery? Can my friend damaged the battery in his six months of using?
Sorry if my English is hard to understand, I tried my best to describe the problem
I use a Sony Xperia Z1 model c6902 phone. It is around 2 years old. No modifications have been done and it was on stock. When the battery was at 60 - 65% I get a notification saying battery low 1% powering off and shuts down. Then when the charger is plugged In it starts charging from 1% And after reaching 10% jumps suddenly back to 60%!!
Here are the steps I tried to resolve it:
1. It looked like a software bug so reset the phone to factory. No go
2. Unlocked bootloader, rooted, flashed 2-3 ROMS, no go
3. Flashed a stock . Ftf file. No go.
4. At the moment trying this app called Battery repair which I know for sure isn't going to help.
What should I do?
Edit: after battery recalibration and cell map (pretty sure all it does is reset batt stats) charge now dropped from 96% to 33%
Hello,
It seems your battery is faulty, its a common issue on all devices, usually the battery acting the way is caused by
1) overcharging battery frequently(leaving on charge too long)
2) charging while the device is under heavy use(its best to set the device aside to charge while not using it, even better to power off the device while it charges)
3) using the wrong charger(example: using 2A charger on a device that requires a 1A charger, this creates excessive heat and damages battery)
4) the battery could have a flaw that reduced its lifespan.
You can try another battery or you can post your question in the forum linked below.

Recently the battery life on my Z5 has been playing up quite horrendously. It just dies at random points and barely lasts a morning with a 100% charge. Every so often it will die and display a dead battery when I attempt to turn it on then, then after half an hour or so it just comes back on but then dies again even though it displays a full battery. I've been keeping it on Stamina mode and that makes no difference. I've ran the in built tests and it comes up saying the battery is fine. I've attempted to drain the battery and charge for 24 hours which didn't do anything. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
Thanks
Looks like you really need a new battery
How old is it ?
Was it used heavily ?
Do a clean install or reflash the firmware with Flashtool.
Started trying that and then it just stopped working completely. So decided to send it to Sony for repair.
I just had my Xperia Z5's battery replaced due to it bloating up. After two weeks, I noticed that the battery indicator isn't working properly.
It would go down from 100% really fast (even during standby - not using the phone) but stay around 30% down for a really long time. No difference in usage. Then it also started restarting on its own even during standby. I would check my phone and it would need me to input my pin saying its required after a restart. Another instance, I was still typing out a text message and it restarted on its own. The battery was around 60% before it restarted but after it turns on again the battery indicator showed that its at 40 something %. I don't think the battery would drain that much just from restarting.
Also, just today, it won't charge properly anymore. It will detect the charger, like it would make the sound when you plug it in but the battery icon won't change to the charging icon and the battery will continue to drain. When turned off, it would show the Sony logo then battery level on the screen but will stay at 0% or whatever % it was left at and will continue draining.
So my phone just died earlier and I just went to plug it in hoping it would still work. The battery was stuck at 0% for the longest time so I just went and left it for a few hours. Coming back to it, I noticed that the LED indicator is green. I pressed the power button and it showed 100%, then I tried turning on the phone. It still turned on, showing 100% on the battery icon and could be used like usual.
I can still use the phone, barely, but this issue is really annoying. I'm not even sure if the next time it drains it would charge again.
So far, I've tried:
using a different cable and charger
doing a factory reset
doing a repair via Xperia Companion
But the issue still persists...
Is there anything else I can do on my end to fix this?
You should replace your battery
Hello.
I'm sorry to hear that your Xperia Z5 got this problem.
Here're some personal experiences:
1.Just replace a battery for it.My Xperia Z5 had same issue last month:Its battery lasts for only 2 or 3 hours, and charges much faster than before. Then I think maybe the battery life loss too much,so I bought a battery from taobao(A Chinese Website),then everything's fine just as when I buy it.
2.According to your description, maybe the sub board(It's responsible for charging and data transmission)is broken too.You can find a used one at ebay.
That's all.I hope this message can help you.And...I'm a Chinese so maybe you can't understand my Chinglish(It means "Chinese English" )...Sorry for that.
