Unable to root and get into CWR can anyone give me some tips?

I've tried it with Odin3 V1.82 / V1.83
CWM Recovery 4.0.0.8 would not flash. I tried using another CWM that I found , but I can't boot into CWM.
Before flashing CWM with ODIN am I supposed to load a rooted kernel to take the place of something like an adb root?
I'm a bit lost on how to go about. My goal was to just flash a gummy rom.

I'm not understanding how you "got lost" on how to go about it. Also, your issues are very vague. Instead of saying "I can't flash CWR," you should say, "Having trouble flashing CWR, here's the error I get." I'm not trying to be mean here but you have to give people something to work with in order to get help. Just saying you can't flash something doesn't give anyone any insight on how to fix the issue because we don't know what the issue is.
This post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160580
This post explains everything you need to know, and it is pretty detailed on what you need and how exactly you need to do it. If you still have any issues, or if this is the method you were using to begin with, then post back here and tell me what your exact issue is (ie: COM port changes when trying to flash, process is stuck at "waiting for device....") and I will try to help you to the best of my abilities.
I think I figured out what I did wrong. I was able to flash my wife's fascinate fine, but not everything was the exact same for the charge.
For some reason Odin 1.82 worked and 1.83 did not
CWR Mod for ALL file worked with Odin, but I was unable to access it. The link in previous post did Flash and worked great.
Thanks for helping out a newbie.

Galaxy gets to download mode, can't flash ROM

After a failed ROM flash, I am now unable to flash any ROM onto my Galaxy s 4G except for PDA_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders_v2.tar.md5. However, this ROM won't do since I have no service when I turn on my phone. I assume this ROM is for another carrier or a different type of Galaxy.
I can get into download mode and recovery mode.
I have tried many different ROMS (rooted and stocked, got them from http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._Rooted.2C_Deodexed.2C_Busyboxed_ROM_packages) for my phone and none of them will finish the flash process, Odin3 always fails at modem.bin. I have tried numerous times to reset to factory defaults from the Recovery Mode but the phone says it can't access some ATT folder.
I am using Odin3 1.85 and have a Samsung Galaxy s 4g sgh-i997.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get my phone working again? At this point I just want any ROM that gives me service to work on there. I
Thanks.

that would be the rom for a rogers infuse 4g galaxy s i997r
if you have an att infuse 4g i997 it will work with bugs (incompatible bootloaders cause rainbow garbage on boot and in camera and video previews) both phones use identical frequencies and work on each others carriers if the apn settings are correct. the problem is that it is failing at the modem.bin flash
check the baseband version in about phone. if it says baseband unknown this shows that the modem.bin is broken!
it is possible that there is a bad block or something on that partition or that the file is corrupt or that it is just the simple fact that odin and windows are both complete garbage, and the samsung drivers are even worse.
what i would do is install a rooting kernel with cwm (entropy daily driver or hellraiser are good but i dont know if they are in .tar format) and install a new modem from the modems thread through cwm (any should work but uxkg3 is the proper one). if you are avoiding rooting then try extracting the modem.bin from a cwm package and use heimdall to flash it, if you know how to make a .tar then you can use odin to flash only the modem.bin.
if you still get a baseband unknown error then odin flashing with the pit file and repartition selected "may" help but it will wipe your data and also risks bricking.
Thanks. I followed this tutorial droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/07/guide-how-to-unbrick-and-fix-your.html to a T and it worked. I guessed I need the PIT, PHONE (modem) and PDA files. I was only using the PDA file before.
Sorry the link is messed up, I'm new and can't post links yet. Just add www before droidangel and it will work.

Needed STAT: Stock .pit file for T869 and Odin flashable CWM...

Just as it says... I'm only making a post outside the "Bricked" post so people will see this and maybe someone can help me out...
This is for the SGH-T869 US TMobile 4g GT7Plus.
I am needing the stock .pit file to flash through Odin. I am also needing a compatible Clockwork Mod Recovery that's packaged to be flashed through Odin (to try and overwrite the stock recovery so I can get into it to wipe and whatnot and fix this soft-brick)...
Any help is greatly appreciated! :cyclops:

[Q] Several questions about Odin; TWRP;

I rooted and flashed a custom ROM to my phone several months ago, but now I need to take it in for repairs/replacement. So, I want to take it back to stock and reset the flash counter. But I have a few questions that I am confused about.
1) Is flashing a stock ROM with Odin, and restoring a stock backup with TWRP basically the same thing? (When/Why would you do one, or the other?). I did make a TWRP backup after I rooted, and before I flashed the custom ROM..
2) Does it matter which version of Odin you use with your phone or ROM? I have 2 versions of stock ROM for my phone (Galaxy Note 2). The later version flashes fine every time. The older one flashes fine (Odin says: Success 1 / Fail 0), but hangs when booting. I have downloaded that older ROM from 3 different locations and all do the same thing. Why would one stock ROM flash fine every time, but the other not???
3) I currently have that newer stock ROM flashed on the phone, but the flash counter says 2. I didn't know you had to be rooted to reset the flash counter with TriangleAway. So, now it looks like I have to root my phone all over again go reset the flash counter. But if I root the phone, reset the flash counter to 0, and then flash a stock ROM, won't that then increase the Flash Counter to 1?
Thanks for any help!

No its different
When u flash with odin you will on stock
When you flash with twrp(i dont know about twrp) u will get to your stock rom but rooted
Yes its matters
U use odin given with particular phone
It is because of odin version that one rom was flashing fine and not the other
No it would not once you are on stock it will disappear
This should fix ur problem:thumbup:

Hmm... well I got my stock ROMs from SamMobile.com and they did not come with Odin. I don't even see Odin available on their site. I have downloaded several stock roms from different places and they did not have Odin. That's why I have been confused if you need different versions of Odin for different phones. Also because there is no site that has a list.
But I did download Chainfire's CF Auto-Root to root and flash TWRP only. And that download did come with Odin3 v1.85. So, at this point I am 'guessing' that this is the version of Odin I should use for my phone (Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317), but it's just a guess. So, I used this version of Odin to flash one of those earlier stock ROMs that were hanging during boot. And they still hang at boot, so I don't know if it's Odin or the stock roms or what. But this v1.85 does also flash my later stock ROM with JB 4.1.2, which flashed fine also with the v3.07 of Odin. So, both versions of Odin work for that stock, but not the other stock ROMs. Very strange...
Try googling how to flash stock rom of ur device
And use odin to flash cwm
This should fix ur problem:thumbup:

Clearing up some confusion
I ran into the same kind of issue having recieved a working version of odin with my root from cf auto root site... then came the 5.0 lollipop and the desire to ditch sprint and go to metro pcs...
everything is about a year old, or there abouts, and I see alot of posts pointing to http://www.sammobile.com/ .... first of all they most certainly do not have every firmware like they claim and they absolutly don't have old versions... they make mention of some but as far as the links working out.... :crying:
much baiting and switching with these samsung devices....
I did find a post where a guy almost sounded like he knew what he was talking about until he went on to say that it is not an exact science and it is all based on if - then , chance- happening
either works or it doesn't.... likelihood of you bricking while trying to flash stock rom is very low... but you can read what he said anyway... nothing past first post though as it doesn't lead anywhere... unless you have one of the model numbers he refers too... and even then, maybe not..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/27-08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539
this site was the only one that had what i needed as far as the stock ROM pre lollipop
http://server14.stockroms.net/download/GalaxyS5/SM-G900P/G900PVPU1ANCB_G900PSPT1ANCB_SPR.zip
and wouldn't you know ... no link to ODIN... so .... I found a every-version-having-download-site
http://odindownload.com/Samsung-Odin/#.VY2WBPlVhBc
but of course there is no heads or tails to be understood from that site either... but at least you will have every version and don't have to worry about trying to find the next one....
Hope this helped....

Flash a .zip file with odin

I want to flash .zip Rom with odin v3.07
I've downloaded nolekat rom for my samsung tab 3 neo I was just trying to root it from odin and somehow it stuck at boot logo now. So I have downloaded rom and it is in .zip extension can I change it's name to .tar or .tar.md5
or is my thinking is wrong?
You have to download firmware, you can't flash custom roms with odin only stick firmware, try Sammobile
Sent from my SM-G386T1 using Tapatalk
You use a custom recovery such as twrp or CWM to flash roms. I suggest doing some reading of the How to's and tutorial threads in your device section to learn more.....before you accidentally destroy your device. Odin is for official firmware, as said above. Be very careful with what you flash and how, or your device can become a paperweight quickly.
Read up first, then do. :good:
