[Completed] [Q] How do I root a verizon samsung note 3 900v with lollipop 5.0.1 - XDA Assist

I have lost recorded voice memos and pictures on my note 3.
The files are critical. I am not tech savy, but I do own a credit card that works...
PLEASE HELP!

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I assume you want root to try to recover your files. Unfortunately, with Samsung devices to root usually means flashing an earlier firmware with Odin which wipes your device. That pretty much defeats the purpose. I can't find anything on XDA on how to root your specific device. You could try this but I don't think anything there will work for you, http://www.xda-developers.com/root/ Does your device boot and are you sure you can't access the files grim your current system?

Thanks for the response. The device is fine. The files were deleted by mistake. I took the device out of service so as to not overwrite the files. I hope someone can help.

I see you've asked this question in other threads, which is the best place to ask. So I'm going to close this thread.

Help EFS Problem

Hi,
Hello I successfully upgrade to Official JB Stock ROM but seems the problem is my EFS, I have unknown IMEI so samsung LCD Codes & I can't use sim card anyone have solution for this? thanks
Before even trying anything, I would suggest that you backup your current EFS partition first.
You can do this from within the custom TWRP recovery menu, using adb commands or possibly some apps or PC programs. You may need root for some methods. You can also copy the EFS folder files with a root type explorer.
Once you've made a backup (in case you make things worse), this thread here may be of help :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18524176 edit: yes, I know it's for the the sgs2, but the dev does say other devices too.
Also, have your tried to reflash manually your firmware with Odin?
There are guides here in xda and our forum, and firmware can be found at sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com
As last resort, I'd take a look at some of the sgs2 EFS repair apps. Could make things worse, but also fix it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doky.sgtoolbox&hl=en
Any decision is ultimately up to you....
Edit 2: if all methods you try are unsuccessful (or made worse and totally unrecoverable), you may have to send to Samsung for repair. Sending to an owner of a RIFF box (JTAG repair) may be faster and cheaper though.
Best of luck

[Completed] help with installing my first rom just have couple question

hi id like to install the cynagenmod, so im using a samsung galaxy s2 gt i9100p its on android 4.1.2, i also had to use the galaxsim unlock to unlock the phone and wanted to know if this will effect anything and if theres anything i should be aware of before atempting to flash my phone with this rom, i also find it hard to find the easiest beginer friendly guides tbh, when i search there just seems to be so many and all with differnt ways of doing it
so can i just have some advice before starting? thx
these are the things im worried about
WARNING
Some second-generation Samsung Exynos devices are potentially susceptible to a "superbrick" caused by performing a factory reset with the stock kernel, which effectively kills the internal memory in the device. It is highly recommended you do not perform this operation while using a stock kernel for safety reasons. To make sure you aren't running the stock kernel (only needed when coming from the stock ROM), fully install CM without performing a factory reset and reboot to recovery before you perform the factory reset.
WARNING:
If you used a non-official method to remove a provider lock, your /efs partition may become corrupt! It is highly recommended you make a backup of this for safe keeping before attempting to modify your device, especially if you plan to remove such a lock.
is the galaxsim unlock what this is referring to? because i used that to unlock my phone? and the first warning is my phone a samsung Exynos, mines a galaxy s2 i9100p, so this doesnt aply to me does it?
Hi,
Please see your previous Xda Assist thread. I gave you the link to your device section there. Asking for help in your device q&a section is the way to find help.
Good luck!

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I can't find anything relevant to your device on XDA. I did find one thing that may give you a clue on how to flash the stock firmware but, CAUTION DO NOT use any of the device specific files in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190

[Completed] In Desperate Need of Help

Okay. I'm having a f***ing awful day. Long story short I got my phone stuck in a reboot loop. And I also deleted the OS. I cannot install the drivers for my phone on my computer in order to install a new ROM or Lollipop. I have no back ups. Using the recovery menu to factory reset my phone didn't help the situation at all either. I'm panicking and quite frankly extremely angry. I don't know what there's left for me to do. If it matters my phone is an S5 running (until I deleted it accidentally) Android 5.0. Model Number is SM900W8. Also KNOX was triggered so I don't think I can take it in. Someone please help me if at all possible. Also I have no idea how this happened in the first place :/
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. It is going to matter what your device is to point you in the right direction. You mention a S5 but the provide model number SM900W8, that looks like a Note 3. You most likely will need to return your device to stock. Can you confirm which device you have?

I have the Sasktel S5 which is a SM G900W8 according to my memory and the sticker underneath my battery. Is it possible to returnn to stock without the use of a computer?
OK, you do have one of the Samsung S5 variants. Luckily there is a forum for your device here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5. You'll want to use Odin to return to stock. This thread had links to stock firmware, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715487. [Completed] Binary backup to device of same type?

Is it possible to backup an android device (in my case gs4 variant) entirely as in system as binary.img file?
I'll explain more about what I mean by binary backup as follow up.
I have gs4, dropped it several times (I'm clumsy) now finally digitalizer and screen is completely dead. It used to be rooted and have CWM recovery.
I have another gs4 I got from my brother as he got new phone and we used same carrier both are sgh-i337m (should be internally same as i9505)
Now I want to keep all the settings and apps files etc. (Litterally everything)
Reason is because I don't like changes unless absolutly neccessary. (Heck I'm still using rotary as home phone)
So, only way (without costing me money) I can find possible was binary backup. Dump everything from the eMMC of my old phone to the other one.
Is this possible in anyway? If I use ADB or someway? By the way old one is completely blacked out and not recognizing any touch input.
I googled and searched for such information in XDA couldn't find one myself.
Please help. Thanks in advance
