Hello guys! This is my first thread here on xda. I have been a fan and heavy smartphone user, and just got the fuze last week (my first HTC, im hooked). This website has been amazingly helpful with the GPS stuff (searched and solved on my own, no thread needed). However, this time I'm having an issue with SMS just sitting there waiting to be resent. I just recently sent back my Motorola Q9h with windows 6.1 on it, and I didnt have this problem. Oh, what problem? sorry I should have mentioned it first. When writing a text message, if I have no signal I get a message stating "Message could not be sent. Try again?" Well at that time I look at the signal and bam, dead zone. Still though, shouldnt it send out as SOON as there is signal, and not wait for my interaction? A few times this has bitten me in the rear when I sent an SMS, then found out it did not send causing the wife to think I was blatantly ignoring her (ok, maybe I was). Frustrating......
Oh, and is there a known screw up on this phone's reception? It seems that the things totally unreliable when it comes to signal reception. I live in a rural area (no 3g for me for a while) that drops in and out of service zone, but out of all the phones I have and sold this one is horrible.
Hopefully someone, somewhere has found a solution or something I am overlooking. Thanks in advance!
Not as far as I am aware. Going home on the train I get this. All i do is wait until there is signal then tap it to resend. I think that is the only way around it for the time being at least.
To be fair it is better than WM5 which just used to stay in your outbox. So you think it sent just to find that it's stuck waiting for you to resend it.
Ah well that sucks. Guess I will have to sit tight and wait for a solution. I can't believe the M$ dudes haven't solved this, you think it would be an easy fix. Hell I bet someone with mad coding skills could write a fix for this and make some cash. (hint hint)
Called Verizon today about the Bluetooth issues and they gave me the number for HTC Support (866) 449-8358. I called and advised many in the PPCGeeks, XDA, forum are having issues with the phone not hanging up, being unstable, etc. and the guy was skeptical. He then put me on hold and talked with someone else and said they know about the problem and have recreated it in the US office with several headsets. Explained about the switch to Widcomm stack, etc. but no fix.
He said the 6.5 update was coming soon and there would be no hot fixes until that came out.
Everyone that is having this problem please take 5 minutes and call HTC support and maybe this will help expedite a solution.
Anyone else get these?
I just got my first (and hopefully last one). It came up as T-Mobile on the phone caller ID, and really messed me up for what I was doing at the time.
This is the first call that has gone in or out of this phone since I got it, no one has my number and it really threw me off...wasn't expecting it. I was a little pissed that I had to start my memory test over again. Not cool.
I couldn't figure out wtf they wanted, i'm paid up on my next few expected bills already, so I called back on my other phone and that's when I found out it was just a "how do you like our service" call.
Well, I gave them a little bit of an earful explaining how I liked it a lot better before that call came in. That's when I found out I could register with T-Mobile to put T-Mobile on my "do not call" registry - lol, gave me a chuckle.
They said it would take up to 30 days for it to take effect, which is about how long i've had this phone. Anyone else get these calls? Think I could expect another one or more before they get blocked?
( Sorry guys, general is the closest thing to off-topic to ask this senseless question )
Honestly I appreciate that they called cause I got a cheaper rate for my wife and me. Obviously they didn't know you were performing a test on your phone, but I can see how frustrating that can be, especially if you hadn't even given the number out to anyone. And since you've registered on their own do not call list so you should be fine. I got a call about a month ago and they haven't kept calling or anything like that, I think they just went through a wave of calls to everyone. And now that the AT&T merger is less likely, they're probably not as worried about retention.
Okay - I've about had it with T-mobile.
I should be sleeping right now. I work pretty much around the clock, my job is to serve many different clients at all hours of the day and night.
The opportunities I do have to sleep are not many, and necessary. And yet they keep calling me for who knows what reasons.
I pay all my bills ahead of time. There are multiple "do not call this person" messages in my account when it gets pulled up on the computer.
And they still call. Who knows what for this time, but I'm pissed and woe to the T-mo store rep who is gonna get a piece of my mind when I'm awake enough to drive.
I am gonna go talk to sprint reps at the stores I see around in my travels. When I find one who can work with me on buying out my t-mo contract, they're history.
It's not like I haven't repeatedly told them to not call me, add me to do not call lists, and made it known that this is a problem to me. But, my needs are irrelevant to this company, apparently, and they don't care how much they inconvenience me, so why should I give them money?

I would say call and demand to speak with retentions, tell them your problem....and of the previous requests....and demand compensation for their auto dialer calls still
Yea, I was definitely cranky a little while ago.
I got myself together and went to the nearest T-Mo store. I dealt with a rep who helped me to the limit of his clearance/ability, which is all I can ask for from that point of contact.
I was obviously irate and aggravated, but made sure to be as polite as possible and explain my issue as completely as I could. The last time I went through all this I had them put in a notation on my account that I am documenting this harassment so that if it hits the point that I have to switch I will be contesting any attempt at charging an early termination fee, and is something I mention on every audio recorded conversation with them now.
I am really trying to make this work, and making every attempt at being as patient as possible, but the time between when I first posted about this and now there have been a bunch of calls from them I haven't mentioned here. My first posting about this was August 31st, and here I am in the beginning of February STILL having to call customer service and telling them not to call me.
I have incoming calls blocked on my phone number with them, the only people who can get through ARE T-Mobile. There should be multiple notations on my account about not calling me. My account has been in good standing since I started it - always paid in full and on time. Always for more then what's needed so i'm ahead of my bill. I've brought other people into T-Mobile who have switched based on what they've seen me do with this device - and this is documented too through refer a friend.
Given all that, that should make me an ideal customer that they want to keep happy. I can't figure out why they are trying their hardest to make me hate them, but it's working. I don't hesitate to speak good about companies that deserve it - be it through exceptional products, or service, or whatever... and i'm hesitant to speak ill on companies in general unless they do something really bad.
For me to have come back here and dug up this post earlier while I was all groggy and waking up from their intrusion, i'm hitting the point of writing T-Mo off as a loss, as posting all my little problems along the way was a triviality I didn't indulge in.
By the time I do hit retentions, I doubt there's gonna be anything they can do for me to keep me with their service. I'm not gonna ask to be bumped to retentions, they'll send me there if they push me to the point of switching. By that time I will have a very well documented list of grievances with the dates, times and names of all people i've talked to and everything that was supposed to be done.
After 6 months I expect to be able to sleep when I need it (which happens to be during 'normal' business hours) and not be bothered by my carrier, whom i've repeatedly explained to why they shouldn't be calling me at that time. If they're going to make it harder for me to earn the money to pay them for their service, i'll find someone who isn't going to place that burden on my life.
I dunno - sorry for the rant, just needed to vent a bit before calling customer service this time to sort it out again. I just got in from the store, i'm going to relax and take a wander around the woods where I took the pictures in the picture thread and see about doing some more work on that for a bit. It's about the same time of day I took them before. Then i'll come back and call customer service.
I took off for the night tonight, I rarely do so it's no problem, but by the time I got in to work tonight i'd be so wound up I wouldn't be productive. Instead i've got like 30 hours left in a forum project i've been working on for here, so i'll ignore the world and do that with my time instead. I'll feel a lot better channeling all my frustration into the energy to do something positive...see if I can drag something worthwhile out of this.
Edit:
And to be fair here, it's the phone calls that are the source of my aggravation. Signal is great, I get good reception all over the place and the network itself is awesome.
I also have no issues with billing or anything like that, it's just these random calls that are getting to me.
I actually just got a call from them a few minutes ago

what exactly do they talk about?

I have gotten four of these in the past eight years.

Never have....been with T mobile for ~10 years
Just my spare change.
This is why Airplane Mode is on your phones.
Delivered via candygram for Mr. Mongo.
The point is he can't turn it on that because he needs to b available for clients, as I read it?
Also he's on the no call list which is why he's upset.
Just my spare change.
No, don't do cellular calls at all. Do do a lot of push mail and data use.
...and now i'm getting text messages from them...at least two so far today. Asking how i like their service, and if i'd refer anyone to T-mobile.
Well, i used too and have - documented with them that i've used their refer a friend for customers in current good standing.
The answer is no, I will no longer be referring anyone to T-Mobile, to the text messages they are sending me. If they could've just left me alone, fine, but now it's my mission to talk people out of T-mobile service, they've irked me to no end.
I spend all this time investing in talking to their customer service and reps trying to get them to stop calling and bothering me, and now they're starting in on the text messaging.
"oh, but it's free" ... but the aggravation on top of my current gripe is not, and something like this just throws fuel on the fire of my frustration.
If I owed them money, or something, fine - but I don't, they have no reason to be pestering me like this, it's as if because I DON'T want them to they are doing it more.
I will be actively soliciting offers from other carriers now, I don't have to put up with this.
That is crazy. I've been with them since Voicestream and not once received a courtesy call lol. Seems to me someone is jerking your chain, not cool.

Maybe Undeads jealous of his rom so he's doing it?
Kidding!
Just my spare change.
I've never got one. I get plenty of calls and texts around bill time if I'm a tad behind. Been with them over 12 years.

You guys COULD just keep up with some of the deals they offer new customers and every time they call, just bytch about them not making you that offer and asking them about free stuff they can make it up to you with. BELIEVE ME, they'll quit calling before you know it. LOL
this app is good for call blocking.
"If you have root, we guarantee that you will not find a more reliable app. Unlike all other call filters, Root Call Blocker silently blocks calls at a system level. You need not even know its working and can choose to be notified only if specific people are blocked. "

Several days ago I emailed HTC support (and encouraged several of you to do the same) about the wifi and push email issues. With respect to wifi, here is HTC's response:
I would be glad to assist you with the email push and wifi connection issues your having with your One X. In regards to the wifi issue your running into, this is currently an issue that has been brought to our attention and we are actively working on a fix for this. We don't have an ETA on the release of the fix yet, but we do have a work around in the meanwhile of toggling the wifi connection on the phone for a few seconds then toggling it back on. This will reset the connection from the phone to the Wifi, make it grab a new address and it should work for a while.

With respect to the push email issue, the support person asked me some additional questions about the issue, but did not say that it is a known issue. I will respond to his questions, but again, those of you that are having push email problems should email HTC support from HTC's webpage and report this issue. They will never acknowledge that something is an issue unless dozens of people email to report it.
Thanks for sharing. You did see the WiFi Fix thread in the developer (I think) section, right? Mine is working much better now.

So I came across my best buy receipt for my gear s2 classic. It was $380 something bucks. I began to ask myself what value I got from it I hoped for.
1) My first use case i was really looking forward to was samsung pay. But it was delayed and there is no word from samsung about its release. Im beginning to wonder if the gear s2 community will ever use it. This is a HUGE shame on samsung currently IMO.
2) I am a previous user of the gear s. I was certain the galaxy store was to offer a substantial increase in useful apps with the gear s2. There was no way to check since theres no website to browse (only in-app with gear onboarded, scumbaggish samsung). Anyways I browse the appstore every week and nothing ever happens. Its pitiful everybody is so excited for uber. One app I was certain would be available is for the Nest thermostat. Its the perfect user interface! Nope. I best thing ive seen so far is the hue app. Cheers to the dev. The gear s2 dev community needs clones of him. But overall our app selection is outrageously pathetic. I don't see it getting much better soon.
3) Why do I have to use s voice? C'mon. Samsung cant be this pretentious. Let me use google. I also thought there'd be a more seamless integration with google now. Nope. Oh yeah, ever wonder why you cant use voice to text on 3rd party apps? Because samsung locked out that ability.
I have a very good feeling that developing for the tizen smartwatch platform is an upsettingly dreadful experience. I say this because i spent four hours on a Saturday trying to get the development environment setup on OSX. I couldn't even get any sample projects to load. This trickles through. For example I really wanted to have xClock -Agent as my daily watchface but I couldn't condone it. Its affiliated android app caused alarming battery drain - and the app developer does not care one bit to correct the malbehavior. But then i ask myself why doesn't the core gear services provide an api for location so this problem wouldn't even occur? Why not for everything else? Why no S voice or be able to use any sort for speech to text for an app? I need an add on app mostly for the dumbest things. This sucks a lot.
As a product owner myself of two development teams I have been on a desperate search for the product owners of the gear s2 platform and express my concerns on that level. All leads Ive found on linkedin did not reply to my attempts at reaching out. Maybe no product owners exist, because things should not be this bad.
Anyways I would love to love this watch. The industrial design encompasses a wonderful human interface. But I don't love it because it has no soul (useable software). I hope things change. But I'm probably going back to the pebble time.
Okay.
K!
2. Google now won't happen. It is not Samsung's fault. Google does not open the access and I believe they won't. Why would they open it for competitors?
I agree with you on the app development part though. Setting up the development environment is not a trouble for me but dealing with the lack of documents, bugs in the IDE, Samsung review team and their servers are really nightmare.
Occasionally, I came across this reviewer who does not read my instruction for testing app and she rejects my apps very often. I just re-submitted one of my app for review hours ago. Another app got rejected a month ago for the third times and the problems were also their fault. I don't even bother submit it back.
Samsung servers or their Gear app store is very very unstable. Way back in the days of the Gear 2, I already saw the cannot install WO WO issue. It still exists and occur very often for customers. I receive at least 3 emails about downloading problems a day and sometimes I get 1 star rating for problems that I cannot solve.
These are just some notable issues.
So yeah, new devs won't develop apps anymore if they face similar problems. These days, I only see new watch faces submitted using the designer tool. Hardly anyone writes apps
Yeah, I agree with everything -- and just dropped dime to get a Verizon classic 3G to replace my current sport 3G.
Why? I need the 3G.
As soon as cell capabilities are offered on AW, and nothing improves on the Gear side with the issues listed (I'm a developer that walked away from development on the Gear because of the hassle), I'm gone too.
So sad, this is the second time Samsung has lured me into their watch with bad apps. Kept watch too long to take back but would if I could. I have bought numerous Samsung products and they always just move on to the "next big thing" without looking back..

Same here.. I've had s2 classic few days and is been a pain in "A"
When it disconnects I have to reboot phone and watch ... so few apps to use app store is barren
such a shame as its a lovely looking device
I'll give it to the weekend then off it goes back to Amazon if it doesn't settle down
I'm not doing too bad but my requirements aren't huge and there are things the phone is better for. I'd love to use Google - but its not an android watch and i knew that going in. I get my emails, texts, my alarm works well enough, I can answer texts with voice, my appointments and Google Reminders work. I'm pretty happy! Wish it was waterproof. Wish the alarm was stronger. But still, I'm satisfied. At least until the next big thing... I AM a gadget whore.
