Google play services - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello internation and honor users.
I am having some issues with google apps. Phone model:H60l02, rooted, bl unlocked, sw ver 5.5.1.
When adding a new contact, it doesnt sync with my google account. This option does not appear, and I suppose contact sync is missing.
Phone was rooted via sideload package flashed via recovery. Gapps were flashed the same way.
On the internet there are a few tutorials for installing google services o this phone, but since the Huawei app center was updated, when I search google services, or anything related to google , the results have almost nothing to do with that.
What else can I do?
I am thinking of flashing gapps via recovery using another package, but I dont know if the new package will cause some weird bugs or interfere with the old gapps package.
Any ideas?

You can use the apk file I've attached if you want. It works on my Honor 6. I've taken it from 4PDA , the website is in russian.

[Q] Hangouts = Google Play Service not supported on this device ?

My g/f phone is on the last version of Saba Prime v16. We did a force update to get Hangouts today and it worked fine..... until we rebooted it. Now Hangouts reports "Google Play Service, which some of your applications rely on,is not supprted by your device. Please contact the manufacturer".
Google Play Services and Hangouts were uninstalled, phone rebooted, then from play store they were installed again but the message persists.
I have a Desire S with Fallout rom, the same version of both apps and works fine even after multiple reboots....
Any ideas ?
I'm getting the same issue on a VZW Nexus. The weird thing is I have 2 Nexus LTE, one mine, one is my wife's. Both are running the exact same ROM/gapps/kernel/radio.... On one device the update to hangouts was flawless, on the other I get "device not compatible". Then a "play services" won't update error....
I've wiped the ROM clean install and tried to update before restoring other apps and still have issues.
Anybody have ideas to correct?
First idea is it sounds like it might be due to different versions of gapps before installing hangouts; I know that the gapps I flashed onto my phone got updated at some point afterwards, and now looks different to the package I downloaded and flashed originally.
Second idea, do your phones have the same CID? (i.e. same carrier, same sim-unlock state).

Okay I fixed on my end...
It seems as though it was on Google's server end, if that's possible.
The short answer for me was, wipe data > install ROM > install hangouts via apk (previously downloaded)> reboot > flash gapps > update Google now> update Google play services.... Viola. Seems like there should have been an easier fix.
Long Answer
I tried wiping data reinstalling ROM and gapps and that DID NOT work. I was getting the same error for Hangouts, Google Now, and Play Services and then some.... "Device not compatible"
I tried the exact same thing but logged into my Google account rather than my wife's and it worked just fine. No errors... Retried wiping ROM and flashing gapps, used her account, device not compatible again. That's why I'm guessing it was server side if that's possible. Even the web version of Play Store was saying device not compatible. CIDs were restored in each case and running same AOKP version and same Gapps.
That lead me to trying the install without Gapps... You only get so far before you must login to Google for obvious reasons, but for what ever reason, having the app installed on my phone before signing into gapps allowed for updating all of the other Play Services without issue.
It doesn't make sense to me but I'm up and running now...
My Solution
I'm a little late to the party, but this is the easiest post to find on Google for this problem. Mine worked after fresh ROM install, but it would start giving the error after a reboot. After much searching the thing that ultimately worked for me was to uninstall updates for the Play Store. I haven't uninstalled Play Services and after the Store auto updated, I could use Hangouts once again. I am using a HTC Desire with Cool Droid v3 GSM ROM.
I can confirm that steps suggested by MikeAce00 worked flawlessly.
This is what I did with a rom with gapps installed already
1. wipe & install rom -- do not input google credentials
2. install hangouts (google+ not necessary!) apk manually
3. input google credentials
4. update google play services (Hangouts even requested this...happened automatically after inputting the google credentials)
5. restart
6. done! -- hangouts should work
For me it did not seem to make any difference if you restart directly after installing hangouts apk or after inputting the google credentials

I've tried the methods proposed here, but no luck. At poinjt 4 I don't get a request for update, just the same old message about google play services not being supported.
I'm currently going through older versions of gapps and see if I get to a point where Google Play updates the right files in the right order.

If you have cwm it, then it suffices to a flat gapps package.

Dear FOOX1
Thank you for your message.
Yes, I did root and I do have cwm, and I can download, one by one, all google apps, but NOT gaaps! I do not want why.
I know that in China google is severely restreicted, to the point that even the main gooogle website is inaccessible, probably the Huawei developer have installed a sort of filter?
Any more ideas?
Shall I install a new custom ROM?
Thank you
Saulo

I know nothing. It is only royalty right, not inserted. It is enough but if you reflashing the package (zip in CWM) to. What you do not need, you can delete then yes. The APKs separately to install does not work. Use the package and FLASHE it in cwm.

Honor 6 H60-L02 GApps problem

I managed to install EMUI 3.1 with Lollipop over stock recovery (because I could find a any other way).
But now I have problems with flashing GApps.
I installed TWRP, but when I try to install zip, I get this error:
INSTALLATION FAILURE: TK GApps can only be installed on top of an existing
TK GApps installation. Since you are currently using another GApps package, you
will need to wipe (format) your system partition before installing TK GApps.

But, I don't have any GApps currently installed
I managed to install other GApps, Minimal Edition
I have installed gapps through the huawei app store, then disabled that app store and used playstore to update

everything seems good, I remember I had to install Google Contacts separately from the huawei app store.
to recap: i have installed play store AND google contacts to sync them. then gapps from playstore.
just search for "Google" in the huawei app store and it will find something like a "collection" (which is like all the apps from that developer). in that "collection" you'll find the contact sync app.
Italian website I've read to solve the problem: http://gizchina.it/2014/10/come-sin...oogle-su-huawei-honor-6-e-ascend-p7-dual-sim/
No need to know Italian, just look at the 2 images. Or if you want you can use google translate

Installing GAPPs suite on Honor 9 (Chinese Version) - NO ROOT NECESSARY

Hello alL,
I come to bring you good news. I have managed to install google play store and other Google Apps on the Chinese version of the Honor 9 (WITHOUT ROOT).
For anyone wondering, here are the steps.
1 - Download this file to your Honor 9.
2 - Decompress the zip file and install "Google Installer_2.0.apk". Don't touch the other files.
3 - Run this app (the newly installed one with the chinese name) and confirm using the Green button near the bottom.
4 - Confirm all prompts for authorisation, ensuring you select "Trust app" to give it full permissions. This will install the core "Google Play Apps Suite" as a user app, meaning that you will be able to uninstall "Play store" by simply dragging it to the top. See 1st screenshot.
5 - Check if Google Play Store has been installed and is working. If android complains about "Missing GMSs", reboot and try again. If still you have problems, try downloading "GMSInstaller apk" from an internet mirror of your choice.
See attached screenshots for proof that it works!
Great guide! Thanks for sharing. This is a safer way than rebrand, but rebrand will bring you a full Europe/US EMUI. You will not see any left-over Chinese characters.
The only downside is you'll be left with some Chinese letters here and there :/
But, it's easier than rebranding
Is there a lot of Chinese left so that it becomes difficult to use the phone? Or more like a minor nuisance? I'm currently in China and positively drooling at the local retail price but I've no access to a computer for rebranding.
Hi, I tried this procedure, I managed to install all the GApps but when I try to login or add google account the phone freezes for a moment and nothing happens. Same behavior on YT, while on Gmail and Play Store it still says "GMS Installer required". I guess that with a chinese phone you need to flash it anyway or it can't reach google servers. Am I right?

Hi,
I previously installed google services successfully using GMSinstaller when I first got my Honor 9 in August.
Now it is upgraded to B201 and because it always crashes when it comes to google play, I ran GMSinstaller again which asked me to uninstall every google related apps.
I did so but now it is impossible to install google again
GMS installer will only propose me to uninstall previously installed google apps, then reboot.
I tried several "Google Installer" including this one, none of them are working.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
It seems like this B201 update patches the GMS installer

I tried removing all the google stuff (framework, account manager, services, sync) then manually install each of them : still doesn't work.
Does anyone with B201 firmware succeed to install Google ?
Is it possible to downgrade without root/unlock ?
One thing I have not tried yet is reset to factory, If I do so I am wondering if a backup from HiSuite will restore everything...

After Factory reset, GMSinstaller worked again !
But my fear was confirmed : after restoring from HiSuite Backup, I lost some datas in my apps and also all my notes in the notes app
In the end got Google back, that's the most important !!

PLEASE HELP! I cannot install the first Google Play Services app downloaded from the link after I uninstalled existing Google Play Services app. Installation of Google Play Services always failed because (it says) my device has newer version even after I uninstalled it.
Now my device does not have Google Play Services but I can't install the version downloaded from the link.
My phone suddenly gave me tge play protect cerification error and could not access playstore, youtube, google maps, chrome,... Etc.
However, i tried the googlifier method and i have everything working fine yet the google play services is not updated and thus Android auto does not work and requires me to update Google play services and when i did i got the certification error again.
Any solution?
Problem solved finally.

It worked, thank you very much.
Had to do it today too, but I skipped all the app activities, just uninstalled the Google Play services, and installed the older one, posted in this thread.
Worked like a charm.
I can open again Google apps without error messages, but Android Auto still does not work, because the fixed installed Google play services is an older version. Any solution for Android Auto?
I have tried a few options out there, however despite un-installing the GPS when I go to install the 1st pkg it returns with a message to say I already have a 'newer' version installed.
I have rebooted the phone to see if that would clear it however nothing.
Force stop GPS & clear Data before uninstall. Afterwards, install the GPS fix from the video link. It should work.

Unfortunately having un-installed GPS already I do not have the option to do the above. Tried downloading the same version via APK however that is also noting that I am using the latest version.

Is this method working? I can't downgrade and I feel bad about my fiancée for recommending this camera phone to her. I would like to find a way to allow you to use at least contacts and mail. Can you help me?
