[Q] Passcode reset on Nexus 5, ADM wont work? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I reset the passcode on a nexus 5 without doing a reset? I've tried logging into the google acconut, and I can use the "find" option in the device manager to locate the device, but if i press the "lock" button and try to enter a new password, for a split second it says "We have sent a lock request to the device", but then it says "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password you entered won't be needed." Wtf is going on? Is there another way to reset the password?

I have not tried this and I do not know if it's updated for Lollipop, so use with caution.
This thread discusses how this can be accomplished if you have custom recovery installed or if USB debugging is enabled. If neither of those are true, you'll have to do a factory reset, there are no other options.

[Q] LG G-Slate V909DW password

Hello,
I got an LG G-Slate V909DW of craigslist and although i knew it has a password i thought I can reset it. No matter what i try, i can not bypass the login password. Is there any way to reset to factory defaults, or wipe the password, or flash a new ROM / factory ROM?
Thanks

nope
perfect reset trick
1. Turn on the Tablet
2. Press lock/power-key for switch on
3. While "lock screen" is displayed press and hold VolDown-key & VolUp-key and wait for "Input Service Code" dialog
4. Type 3845#*909# and press "Confirm"
5. Go to "reset " tab, after few minutes G-slate will reboot.

Phone thinks it is encrypted

Device is running all stock HTC and Verizon software. Never rooted, never encrypted phone.
Phone now boots to a screen that says:
'Decrypt storage'
No matter what I enter for a password, it states:
"The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt."
The only option provided is to 'Reset phone'.
Before I wipe all data with a factory reset, is there any chance of trying to recover data from the phone? Phone is not in USB mode so ADB doesn't recognize the device. Various hard resets don't do anything. Are there any tools that can allow me to look at the device memory before simply wiping everything and starting over?

how to use a different lock screen

I've installed a new lock screen but when I unlock it just shows the default lock screen so I basically have a double unlock situation before I can access my device.
When I go to settings - lock screen I can't actually choose another lock screen and under security two options read "disabled by administrator encryption policy for credential storage.".
I've tried going to security "clear credentials", but this doesn't seem to do anything for me.

Maybe you wanna check security/device administrators ; apps with usage access
And also accessibility
See what can you do there.
If that don't work try clearing dalvik and cache in twrp if you have it.
Also you might wanna try resetting the phone to factory state from backup and reset menu.
Good luck

need assistance with "decrypt device storage"

I was on the official Nougat Beta, but today I decided to go back to PIA to get root back. After flashing all files via Odin, the phone rebooted. But now it wants me to enter a password to decrypt device storage before I can do anything. The only other option is to make an emergency call. Prior to flashing PIA, I did have the device set up to unlock with my finger print OR a PIN. I assumed that it wanted the PIN, but it is not doing anything. After entering the PIN, it says Verifying... Then it goes back to wanting me to enter the password. The PIN is the only password I have ever used for the device, and I do not recall encrypting the storage one the phone. Any and all help would be appreciated.
After factory resetting three or four times, it went away and let me in. Now in the process of setting up the phone.

MHA-L29 - No way to do a factory Reset in Recovery?

Hey here,
short story: Mum forget her fingerprint password and now we have to wait 1 hour after she tries it for two times...
I thought it should be easy to reset the password after installing the android device manager to the smartphone (since i do have access to the google account) and then create a new lockscreen pattern.
But nope - i've sent the command from the website, that the google device manager should be installed but nothing happens and i can't retrieve the status from the device manager
But the part which irritates me mostly is, i can't even do a freakin wipe trough the eRecovery and the eRecovery Update mechanism fails completely. Fastboot also doesn't help because the phone is locked.
And since ADB Debuging and uknown sources isn't available i can't do anything here...
Since i have no chance of getting my pictures back i wanted to ask if any1 here has a tipp how i can atleast reset the phone?
Best regards
