How many of you use the Note PRO 12.2 as a phone? How do you carry it when you talk? - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I use the Note PRO 12.2 as a phone. Of course, I get strange looks from people often but I don't want to carry a laptop, the Note PRO and a phone all the time. How many of you use it as a phone? How do you carry it when you talk? I like to put it on my shoulder and use one hand to keep it there. So, the LCD is oriented that it is in parallel to my ear. No problem with it except that one time I talked to somebody for over an hour. Afterwords, I felt pain in my arm.

Why on earth would you need to hold it to your ear?
Perhaps try a Bluetooth device?
Or perhaps some headphones that have a mic unit on the cord?
Then you can just turn off the screen and tuck it under your arm or in a satchel/backpack or something...

I use it as a phone when my Note 3 runs out of battery.
Carry it.. no. They invented these things for it a couple of years ago....

I tried some of those bluetooth devices but did not feel comfortable wearing them.
ShadowLea: Is there a mic on the Y23? It seems that it is just a normal ear phone. How do I talk if I put the Note PRO in a bag?

I usually grab it when my phone is out of reach or out of battery. if I'm in my house I just use it as a speakerphone but its all outdoors I usually have a headset. You can buy them on Amazon for five bucks. I use the ones they came withthe flat wire not the rounded ones I don't know which ones they are exactly but they are the more recent version. I bought 5 of them and have them all around the house and in the car. the combination of Google Voice and hang outs is amazing

It has a mic. The U stands for Universal (Meaning every OS), there's also a Y23i for the iPhone, and a regular Y23 without a mic.
I've always got my bag very high up (never on my hip, it flops about too much then) or I use a backpack, so the cable length is long enough.
Alternatively I use a Bluetooth earpiece for when I'm on the go, because cables don't work well when you're moving. I've got a dust-proof, water-proof, shock resistant Bluetooth earpiece through an army friend of mine.
At home it's usually connected to my JBL Charge 2 (bluetooth speaker) which has a conference function that allows me to use it as a speaker and mic.

I request a picture of someone holding it to their head like a phone.
It's for scientific purposes. I swear.
Thanks.

Sony SBH52
When not connected to car bluetooth, I use Sony's Smart Bluetooth Handset SBH52 for calls.

I request a picture of someone holding it to their head like a phone with just one hand! haha
greetings

Must be a joke! ?

Please help?? Using the TP mic when usb to 3.5mm adapter is plugged in?

I've searched, but can not find an answer to this.
I have one of those little adapters that lets me plug any 3.5mm earplugs into the Touch Pros USB port. There is no mic on the adapter, so when its plugged in, I can not make phonecalls. I was wondering if there is a way to use the built in mic of the TP while the adapter is plugged in?
Thank you
Any ideas? I hope what im asking makes sense?
I´m also wondering
Sorry to keep asking , but id really like to be able to use voice command and make phonecalls while the usb port is in use with the 3.5mm converter.
There is no way to force the TouchPro to use its own mic even when it thinks a headset is plugged in?
No. Buy a stereo headset with mic.
Or if you own a $6xx 3.5mm headphones then buy another USB converter with mic (see pictures below)

I searched eBay for a solution like what you are showing there, since i had a feeling it is what I'd need. I could not find it though. So i came here to ask. Its not that i have expensive headphones, its that i attach an FM transmitter to the 3.5mm port, while driving, and want to be able to still make phone calls and use Voice Command.
I would buy the USB converter with MIC that you pictures if i can find it.
Thanks
EDIT: noticed the picture was from expansys. Found the product, but its 15 euro. A lot more than the 3 euro i payed for 2 of the mic-less ones. Its annoying that i cant turn the TPs mic on for free

I saw you edited your post above. Yes, Seidio and Expansys are normally over-priced their stuffs. The worst here is both of them jump in bed together.
Thanks, the only place i can get it seems expansys.ie. The other two are American shops. (Im in ireland ).
I guess i will have to go for the cable. Still, out of curiosity, there is no way to force Windows Mobile or the TouchPro, or whatever is responsible, to not reroute the mic? It HAS to route both the mic and sound once the 'headset' is plugged in? There is no override somehow? Even if its a hack.

[Q] Headphones Compatibility

i9000 version owner here. I was wondering if anyone can confirm that iPhone-compatible headphones, such as Etymotics HF2 or Apple's own In Ear headphones (or even standard iPhone headphones) work or don't work properly on the Captivate.
They do not work properly on the i9000 version of the Galaxy S because he mic and ground in the t/r/r/s jack configuration are crossed.
I understand this to just be standard difference in the way Apple and HTC implement the 3.5mm jack configuration vs Samsung and Nokia, but I thought their might be a chance that it's an international vs US configuration thing with the i9000 vs the Captivate or the Vibrant.
Has anyone tried iPhone compatible headphones with their Captivate?
By compatibility, I mean all features work - mic, sound at proper volume, click to answer. I was able to wire an adapter for my HF2s to the i9000 by crossing the mic/ground, but it would be nice to know US model of the phones do or don't need such modifications to use 3rd party headsets.
Any one?
Also, if you've found/used a non-homemade adapter, could you recommend one that works. They seem few and far between as identified in our thread re: this on the i9000 forums. More info here.
Thanks.
Yes, they work. I have a pair of UE TF10vi that I use, can play/pause with the click on the button - haven't tested answering a call with it, but know that the mic works as well.

That's good to know. Those are specifically advertised as iPhone and Blackberry compatible, and on the i9000 if you click to pause, you actually boost the volume on the headphones to what you'd expect. Some guys were even taping their mic buttons closed to get proper sound.
This confirms my suspicion that the hardware wiring is different on the i9000 international SGS than the US marketed Captivate. Probably safe to assume the same is true on the Vibrant. Disappointing for me that I have the i9000 in that regard - the stock headphones just don't do it for me.
On a side note, those UE TF10s sound fantastic - not sure I have the ears to appreciate them, though.
Thanks.
I've been using the headphones that came with the iphone 3g since day 1 without a problem.
iphone wired doesnt work on my galaxy s so i made an adaptor from a cut off nokia ad-57 and some generic female 3.5mm 4pole and crossed the mic and ground

Unless the model of headphones with mic/button state they will work with Nokia pin layouts (SGS uses this pin layout), then it will not work, you'll need to find an adaptor, there are threads discussing, you should try a search.
Sorry to butt in here guys but please tell me the SGS works with normal headphones for music?
Yes it does, its just phone calls that mess up.
If your headphones have the different pin layout, music will work, but if a call comes in...you wont be able to hear or say anything through the headphone/mic. You'd have to unplug the headphones (if headphones are plugged in, even the microphone on the phone is disabled) and use the phone to take the call
Are there any adapters that dont mess up the sound quality? I tried a Nokia mic adaptor with my Shure SE210's connected to them and it sounded horrible
Umm. Idk if the Klipsch S4i works on this SGS. Although I have the Klipsch S4 (and a SGS) and if you like bass heavy music and dance. These are perfect! If you want more info I'd suggest you to take a look at the head-fi forums
I second that. Klipsch s4 + sgs and it heaven.

I just buy Creative HS-730i, only for nokia adapter and it work. Now I can use any iphone headphones ( with mic ) with my SGS Pretty well workaround, even radio is working with this adaper without headphones.
There is huge gap on the market with this adapter.
Buy a Denon AH-C710 no microphone & controls, just great music!

I just got these, they are one of the top IEM earphones you can find. They do indeed sound great! http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf5.html
I have the s4i and they don't work. Bought the s4i for the iphone I had previously and they were amazing. But they dont work on the galaxy s. Not even music
As a rule of thumb:
All iPhone compatible earphones do not work.
Standard stereo earphones do work, but you get no mic.
Nokia compatible earphones with mic will work.
If you're on the budget, try these: http://mp4nation.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=62_46&products_id=294
The best sound for the price. Period.

Review: MEElectronics AirFi Matrix Bluetooth Headphones

Hey XDA
Just throwing out a review for those of you interested in some quality Bluetooth headphones.
I have had these guys for a week and I've tried them on all sorts of music since I am part of a multi media team for a church. We edit and sample all genres of music so I decided to try these out for our work.
Build quality
They seem to be made with very good materials. I've had several other over the ear headphones that feel very flimsy and cheap; this is not the case with these. The adjustable parts on the headphones are very firm and not loose at all maybe even a bit too firm which I appreciate. The carbon fiber part is a cushion and not plastic which was surprising but not bad by any means.
Fit
The fit on these are excellent. They are snug and feel great. After a while you forget you're wearing them which is a plus since I would wear them for hours at a time. The cushions are very soft and there's just something about them that feels awesome.
Functionality
The Bluetooth part works excellent. Pairing took five seconds. They have never dropped Bluetooth connection on my S4, S3, my MacBook Pro, my wife's iPhone, and a few other phones we tested. Pausing the music and answering calls also worked perfect. Battery lasts quite a while and I love that I can use the aux cable for those devices with no Bluetooth.
Sound
Music on these headphones sounds amazing. I am not a fan of many headphones out there with over killed bass but I do like a decent thump - these babies delivered perfectly! Highs were very clear and crisp, mids were present but didn't give them a muddy sound. Call quality was great as well. The person OK the other end heard me perfectly. Volume on the headphones for call was good. I could hear clearly almost as good as the earpiece on my phone.
Overall I really likes these headphones. They have been great for me with everything I do. I like the case they come in and the face that they are quite portable with their rotatable earpiece. I loved that they charge with USB so that makes it easy wherever I'm at.

Aukey Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless Stereo Portable Mini Lightweight Gym Earbuds help me run

I recent brought this Aukey Bluetooth 4.1 Gym Earbuds for running. When I choose the very songs I like best and then ware the earbuds, I could run more than an hour ( I could only run half an hour before...) I used to use wired earbuds when running and it's really annoying to see the long wire flying crazily in front of me...
Ok, here comes to the nice earbuds.
The right side earbud has the volume button on the front and it's quite long so you can easily find the volume up and down when working out. The mic opening is positioned below the volume down button.

A little thing I dislike: the charging port really needs agile fingers. But mine are a too fat and clumsy...:crying:
But I guess there are only green ones of Aukey earbuds. I do hope there could be some other colors. Black, blue, yellow...Haha...
Like it or not, please check at amazon.co.uk by yourself. By the way, now you can save £3.00 with code QG2NVABQ.

I'm too lazy to run, so any earbuds that can help me to actually do it without breaking a sweat would be a good thing.

Haha, I am also very lazy to run, that's why I should listen to music when I run. That really could help divert my attention from tiredness. But I like it when I sweat a lot. That's a good sign showing that my fat is burning, and I will soon loose weight.
Come on, let start running! You will feel like gaining more energy!:highfive:
