Unless the model of headphones with mic/button state they will work with Nokia pin layouts (SGS uses this pin layout), then it will not work, you'll need to find an adaptor, there are threads discussing, you should try a search.

Sorry to butt in here guys but please tell me the SGS works with normal headphones for music?

Yes it does, its just phone calls that mess up.
If your headphones have the different pin layout, music will work, but if a call comes in...you wont be able to hear or say anything through the headphone/mic. You'd have to unplug the headphones (if headphones are plugged in, even the microphone on the phone is disabled) and use the phone to take the call
Are there any adapters that dont mess up the sound quality? I tried a Nokia mic adaptor with my Shure SE210's connected to them and it sounded horrible

Umm. Idk if the Klipsch S4i works on this SGS. Although I have the Klipsch S4 (and a SGS) and if you like bass heavy music and dance. These are perfect! If you want more info I'd suggest you to take a look at the head-fi forums

I second that. Klipsch s4 + sgs and it heaven.

I just buy Creative HS-730i, only for nokia adapter and it work. Now I can use any iphone headphones ( with mic ) with my SGS Pretty well workaround, even radio is working with this adaper without headphones.
There is huge gap on the market with this adapter.

Buy a Denon AH-C710 no microphone & controls, just great music!

I just got these, they are one of the top IEM earphones you can find. They do indeed sound great! http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf5.html

I have the s4i and they don't work. Bought the s4i for the iphone I had previously and they were amazing. But they dont work on the galaxy s. Not even music

As a rule of thumb:
All iPhone compatible earphones do not work.
Standard stereo earphones do work, but you get no mic.
Nokia compatible earphones with mic will work.

If you're on the budget, try these: http://mp4nation.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=62_46&products_id=294
The best sound for the price. Period.

[Q] Headphones Compatibility

i9000 version owner here. I was wondering if anyone can confirm that iPhone-compatible headphones, such as Etymotics HF2 or Apple's own In Ear headphones (or even standard iPhone headphones) work or don't work properly on the Captivate.
They do not work properly on the i9000 version of the Galaxy S because he mic and ground in the t/r/r/s jack configuration are crossed.
I understand this to just be standard difference in the way Apple and HTC implement the 3.5mm jack configuration vs Samsung and Nokia, but I thought their might be a chance that it's an international vs US configuration thing with the i9000 vs the Captivate or the Vibrant.
Has anyone tried iPhone compatible headphones with their Captivate?
By compatibility, I mean all features work - mic, sound at proper volume, click to answer. I was able to wire an adapter for my HF2s to the i9000 by crossing the mic/ground, but it would be nice to know US model of the phones do or don't need such modifications to use 3rd party headsets.
Any one?
Also, if you've found/used a non-homemade adapter, could you recommend one that works. They seem few and far between as identified in our thread re: this on the i9000 forums. More info here.
Thanks.
Yes, they work. I have a pair of UE TF10vi that I use, can play/pause with the click on the button - haven't tested answering a call with it, but know that the mic works as well.

That's good to know. Those are specifically advertised as iPhone and Blackberry compatible, and on the i9000 if you click to pause, you actually boost the volume on the headphones to what you'd expect. Some guys were even taping their mic buttons closed to get proper sound.
This confirms my suspicion that the hardware wiring is different on the i9000 international SGS than the US marketed Captivate. Probably safe to assume the same is true on the Vibrant. Disappointing for me that I have the i9000 in that regard - the stock headphones just don't do it for me.
On a side note, those UE TF10s sound fantastic - not sure I have the ears to appreciate them, though.
Thanks.
I've been using the headphones that came with the iphone 3g since day 1 without a problem.
iphone wired doesnt work on my galaxy s so i made an adaptor from a cut off nokia ad-57 and some generic female 3.5mm 4pole and crossed the mic and ground

[Q] In ear earphones for DHD

Hi ,
Any recommendation for In-Ear earphones with mic and controll music for HTC DHD ?
Thanx
ma8ash
I was looking for for a earphone extension myself earlier. Since than I have bought a extension cable with music control ability along with a mic I will post a picture and link if you are interested.
please do that.
also tell the brand and model please
Hi,
Thanx , sure I ask for that link.
here you go. I have just posed the same thing on other two different threads incluging my own. hopefully ppl won't think I am spaming.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Headphone-Earphone-Mic-HTC-HD2-Pure-Snap-HD-Smart-/270783737034?pt=UK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Bluetooth_Acc_ET&hash=item3f0bf7ecca
the included earphone is very good, much to my surprice and for £3.34 I think it is a bargain. you press once to pause and play, press twice to fast forward three times to backforward. If you really want good music, I can recommend to buy a pare of Shure earphphone.
Forgot to mention I am using CM7 rom and with Poweramp player. I've not check if it works with sense. I order on 11th and it has just arrived yesterday, not too bad.

This is the combination I use that works very good! Some people believe bluetooth headsets don't produce good sound but I beg to differ.
Cyanogenmod daily
Poweramp
Polar Bear BT001
Westone 3 - Soon to change to Westone 4
I might have to get a mic extension cord with a jack, as there's no way I'm not going to use my Sennheiser IE8s! These and the Shure e530s are my favourite in terms of sound quality. But these are for serious audiophiles only, as they're not the cheapest.
Works
I'm using Sony Ericsson HPM-75 Headphone Handsfree for X10 Xperia works but the button on the control needs to be pressed (held on) has anyone tried the Sony Ericsson MH-500 Headphone Handsfree Xperia Arc?
Skullcandy rocks
I've been using some SkullCandy 50/50s for about 2 months now, and I wouldn't change them for any others.
They've given very good sound quality, and their build is incredibly sturdy. They've got music and call controls, as well as the microphone you're looking for (in fact, its their main selling point).
I've been using PlayerPro for playback and to set my EQ's as well.
Find the right balance for your music taste, and together, they'll give you an immense sound.

how do you guys even afford the ability to listen to music with the battery life of a DHD?
I'm using sony MDRED12LPS, they have an excellent sound, and noise-aislation. About battery life, i must charge twice a day the phone =(

I used these for years....design hasn't changed lol. You have the option of using bt or plugging it in. Great if you are running low on juice.

I was looking at this headset, but I was wondering if the side buttons work for pausing and skipping music?
MW600 works like a charm
I'm using the MW600 since a few months.
First with my HTC Legend and now with the Sensation.
The controls work just fine on both phones.
On my Legend it had problems with the integrated mic, thus making it unuseable as handsfree kit, but on the sensation it works like a charm.
Only thing that's missing (but that seems to be a general Android problem) is voice dial. You can accept calls with the phone button on the bt adapter, but you can't use it to issue new calls.

Stereo Bluetooth headphones

This is what I got:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006E69AS2/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
Pairs effortlessly, quality not bad. The problem is that the left speaker, the sound quality is awesome, great bass. However on the right one there's some annoying static. So I decided to open it up and this is what I found. The speaker itself is right next to the circuit board fthat contains the Bluetooth module, antena, the volume rockers and the command buttons. Once I take it apart (away) from the board the static disappeares.
Do you guys have any idea on how to isolate or insulate the speaker from the board to avoid the statistics, it's annoying because the right side is crystal clear. I don't think simply putting electric tape will do. Any suggestions greatly appreciated, I really like them especially for the price...

Yeah, but the volume doesn't go up nearly loud enough on any BT headset, and they are not meant for hi fidelity audio such as music, movies, etc. But I do also use my Mono BT headset to listen to music, it is very convenient to only have 1 ear, no cords, nothing going ear to ear.

Review: MEElectronics AirFi Matrix Bluetooth Headphones

Hey XDA
Just throwing out a review for those of you interested in some quality Bluetooth headphones.
I have had these guys for a week and I've tried them on all sorts of music since I am part of a multi media team for a church. We edit and sample all genres of music so I decided to try these out for our work.
Build quality
They seem to be made with very good materials. I've had several other over the ear headphones that feel very flimsy and cheap; this is not the case with these. The adjustable parts on the headphones are very firm and not loose at all maybe even a bit too firm which I appreciate. The carbon fiber part is a cushion and not plastic which was surprising but not bad by any means.
Fit
The fit on these are excellent. They are snug and feel great. After a while you forget you're wearing them which is a plus since I would wear them for hours at a time. The cushions are very soft and there's just something about them that feels awesome.
Functionality
The Bluetooth part works excellent. Pairing took five seconds. They have never dropped Bluetooth connection on my S4, S3, my MacBook Pro, my wife's iPhone, and a few other phones we tested. Pausing the music and answering calls also worked perfect. Battery lasts quite a while and I love that I can use the aux cable for those devices with no Bluetooth.
Sound
Music on these headphones sounds amazing. I am not a fan of many headphones out there with over killed bass but I do like a decent thump - these babies delivered perfectly! Highs were very clear and crisp, mids were present but didn't give them a muddy sound. Call quality was great as well. The person OK the other end heard me perfectly. Volume on the headphones for call was good. I could hear clearly almost as good as the earpiece on my phone.
Overall I really likes these headphones. They have been great for me with everything I do. I like the case they come in and the face that they are quite portable with their rotatable earpiece. I loved that they charge with USB so that makes it easy wherever I'm at.
