The S4 Pro is way more powerful than the S400, but it also consumes more battery.
The N4 is known for it's bad battery life and terrible camera. If you can live with these two problems, then definitely go for the N4, if not then stay with the Moto G.
Good Luck.

+1 for the above. I have both the G and the N4 right now, and I think the battery life and the poor camera focus will turn many people away. However, I have a distaste to Moto G's touchscreen - often fails to respond or recognize my touch as hold...

Benefits of nexus. - more developer support, but I think this is ruled out because our moto g is also heavily supported
You will get 16 gigs
Benefits of keeping moto g - better battery
Younger than nexus 4
Better processor (the s4 on nexus 4 is power hungry and even after being at more clock speed of 1.5 GHz its performs less than s400 because s400 is newer than s4)

[Q] Enough ram?

Hi all!
I'm a S3 Mini owner, and I'm in love with the Moto G (i'm thiking in give my s3 mini to my father and buy a moto G), but I'm wondering if it has enough ram. The s3 mini has 1GB too, and sometimes I think it's not enough for multitask and things like that. Won't be a problem with the Moto G? Does it has ram enough?
Sorry fot my english, and thanks in advance

It depends of Your usage. OK for me.
It's enough RAM for moderate to heavy usage. And Kit Kat will require less RAM
I've had no issues, but I'm in the habbit of using the recents button and closing down things when I'm no using them.

So far, I cannot complaint about the ram I did not notice if there is lack of it. I usually kill the apps so it is fine. I used to have an iphone 4S with 512 m ram so 1 giga is a much better. I saw the mini down the price to £180 I guess to compete with the moto g, but man I am so liking it that I am thinking in buying another one.

1. What is the amount of ram usable? 900 MB?
2. how much memory does the system consumes after first boot?
3. how much memory does the system consumes after login into Google and Motorola account (but didn't install any app from Play Store yet)?
My current phone is Xperia X8 with 186 MB of RAM.

Yes, the Moto G has 900MB available RAM to the user and probably between 350 and 450 free after boot. It totally depends what you have installed.
I think it's quite comfortable with the 1G and I am used to 2G from my Nexus 7 - if nothing else, it saves on cost and battery

Most definitely 1G on this phone is enough, when I compare it with the Samsung S3 I have just got rid of, it holds up so well.....
my user experience is actually superior, the simplicity of near-AOSP is such an improvement over the Sammy, which was chock full of useless features and TW crap, for me anyway.....
and it was 1G RAM with quad-core processor, just like the Moto G!!!
Just some specs comparison from GSM Arena, not always correct, but one wonders why the Sammy cost almost three times more than this Moto did, it is just amazing....
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4238&idPhone2=5831
After 2 weeks with the Phone I can only sa that I would pay 30£ more for 2gigs of ram on moto G and that would made it the best of the best.

[Q] Should I buy Moto G 16GB? (S2 9100 user) (quad coe a7 vs dual core a9 @ same GHz)

Helo everyone! I'm between Nexus 4 and Moto G. BUT, I've been with no smartphone for half a year(sucks really hard). So, I'm thinking of buying a Moto G because the Nexus 4 is more expensive.
The thing is, is the Quad Core A7 cpu better or the same than a Dual Core A9 cpu at the SAME SPEED?(The S2 9100 has a 1,2GHz Dual Core A9)
Thanks guys!
The moto G is faster than the Galaxy S2. It's less powerful than a Nexus 4 because the Nexus 4 has twice the RAM though it comes close in some benchmarks because of the optimized ROM, nand storage filesystem, and CPU. In real world usage though an N4 will be much smoother and faster. Still the Moto G is a fine device. By the way, the Nexus 4 is no longer for sale. Perhaps you mean a Nexus 5? That kind of blows away a Moto G and most other smartphones. Though there is the price factor and the moto G is more than adequate.

Thanks for the reply! I meant Nexus 4. I'm from Greece and I can find it in some stores and also on Amazon and ebay.
How fast is CyanogenMod 11 on Moto G? Is the stock ROM faster than CM11 or at least the same? I like flahing ROMs and kernels(as everyone else ) so I wouldn't want the flashed ROM to be slower than the stock ROM.
I used to have a nexus 4
Other than the price also consider the battery, the moto g battery life is better than the nexus 4 in my opinion and experience. So if you buy the moto g, you save some money and get the must have accesories like the meenova microsd card you can expand you memory and also the flip shell from motorola so that you can wake your phone without using the power button.
I have played MC4 in the moto g and in the nexus 4, in the nexus is used to get very hot the whole phone but the moto g does not do that much or at least not as the nexus did, that game is pretty heavy but no difference with the nexus , about the ram I have not felt any significant difference maybe others but my experience it works very well. However if you are into video and photography then the nexus is much better than the g, so consider that as well.
Hope you get what you are looking for.
bye

I have had the N4, Moto G, and s2 (i9100). I like all of them but I find the s2 too slow for me. If the N4 and Moto G are the same price, I would pick the N4.
Right now, there are no custom ROMs for the Moto G based on CM11 or AOSP.

[Buy Advise] Should I Switch to Moto G?

Hi guys,
I am currently using Xperia L and I really love it but the new Moto G looks promising with quad core capability.
I am not so expert in hardware but I do know that Quad Core phones like the Micromax, Xolo etc etc in same price catagory can't even play graphic intensive games which Xperia L handles smoothly.
So is it the same case with Moto G?
Is the hardware superior or inferior to our Xperia L?
What could be the difference between KRAIT processors of XL and ARM v7 processors of Moto G?
Only downside of Moto G is that it does not have Expandable Storage..
Still I need more information from you guys..
Should I switch to Moto G or Stay with my lovely XL?
In my opinion you should buy it.I mean almost everything is better about motorola moto g.
1)bigger screen,higher ppi & resolution
2)IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen + corning gorilla glass 3
3)Storage: if you get the 16 gb version you'll be good even without an sd card
4)Good camera.I mean when someone asks you to take a photo you just take the damn photo.Noone will have a screen to watch at full resolution to see it would have been better with 8 mpx.XL camera is better, except the bug in video recording(low light and different bugs on previous fw).thank god they finally fixed at least photo camera...still in my opinion the pics should have more details...Front camera is better on motorola.(1.3 mpx vs vga)
4)KITKAT over JB.Way to go moto g
5)Newer Chipset on motorola. It's the chipset from Xperia SP.but it doesn't have Krait CPU,it has Cortex - A7 quad core clocked at 1.2 ghz(even if it could run up to 1.6 ghz).IMO it's a little better than XL.Just look how well it handles dead trigger 2: link
6)GPU it's the same
7)bigger battery(but non-removable).
Yes, the moto G is waay better than XL in all aspects except non-expandable storage.
Make the switch if you have the cash man.. I would exchange my XL for a Moto G anyday.
Don't think just make the switch
Should make switch if
• you want to miss KK
• dont want quadcore cpu & adreno 305 combination
• dont want better front cam
• better display and dev support :good:
• dont want better phone
Its better than XL in many ways
Well I would like to suggest for Moto G. Reason behind Moto G:
- Newer Android version
-Better Display
-Little bit better CPU and chipset
Draw backs are
-No expandable memory
-I am sure Moto G can't compete the sound quality of XL
-Not that premium feel build like XL
But, I am pretty sure Motorola will not provide crappy and buggy firmwares like Sony. Go for G

Yes, you should make the switch. I have the Xperia L and my brother has the Moto G, he upgraded over the Xperia M (which is quite similar to the L) and was very happy with his decision. The Moto G it better than the L in nearly every aspect excl. camera, no expandable storage, no NFC... Although I must say for the 5MP camera is takes great pictures and front camera is far better than the miserable thing we get on the L. Plus the Moto G is cheaper. So go for it. You might want to take into account the fact that Motorola was recently sold off from Google to Lenovo. Although Lenovo said that they won't mess with the future schedule of Moto products. But the G has got a great Kit-Kat anyway (I have tested it myself).
Edit: Also in terms of build quality, sure the Xperia L looks a lot better (my opinion), but the Moto G feels a lot sturdier in hand.
Atleast moto g does not have multitouch issue....

The sound quality of Moto G is excellent, the music with speaker has a very good quality and powerfull
Personally, I don't think it's worth the switch.
If you're switching from Xperia L to something else, I advise you to switch to something more powerfull, for instance, a Nexus 5. Otherwise you'll just recieve nearly the same device.
thank you very much for suggestions guys....
I will switch to Moto G probably by next month.
Also I need to ask one thing that since I have rooted my XL can I still unroot it and flash the stock rom?? so that whoever takes my XL can avail the warranty which my XL still have it.
I have not unlocked my bootloader, only rooted with script shared with our fellow xda member.
So if I flash the stock rom back again it will not hamper the warranty right?
I still love my XL though but its the battery which is really making me to switch + the official 4.4 update
I am not a hardcore gamer but do play games like PVZ, Candy Crush and browse on the internet a lot and open big office files which reduces the battery of XL drastically.
I have heard that Moto G has good battery backup which can last for atleast 1 full day on medium to high usage. I haven't confirmed that.
I do want to get the higher end phone but budget is tight and I really like the Moto G after seeing it from one of my friend.
Thank you very much for replying and giving your valuable suggestions.

It's pretty good, but when you have it on a padded surface like a bed, some presses won't register if you don't press harder than normal.
-microphone
No one i've called has said they had issues with my voice.
-flickering display
My display flickers using chrome, but I see alot have that issue. Not sure if it's limited to the Moto G.
-what I won't be able to enjoy without the gyro
I didn't even know it didn't have a gyro. Doesn't affect me. Here's what some people said about having a gyro: http://windowsphone.stackexchange.c...gyroscope-on-my-phone-when-using-photosynth-o

Yes, it handles it fine.

I'm using Xposed for tweaks, which does only what I want.
I came from the n5 and don't regret it.

Hey guys, I need some on trying to find an android phone for about $200. I've already looked up the Moto G and unfortunately it didn't meet up to my total expectations. I am looking for a device that has:
A 4.5 - 5 inch Display with about 720p HD Capabilities and maybe around 250 - 330 PPI.
Dual or Quad Core Processor (Starting from 1.2Ghz and please try not to post any mediatek cpus)
512 - 2GB of Ram
Good internal storage for some apps.
Android OS 4.1.2 - 4.4 KitKat
Good battery life (something that would last for about a day or so)
Stable.. Smooth (No Chinese Generics)
At least some support from the dev. community.
Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

well since the moto g is out of the picture, i think one of the many BLU phones would be good for you, i have heard good and bad reports about the battery, most of them have 1g or higher gigs of RAM, its seems that lots of their devices (even with small screens) have a great cpu clocked at 1.5ghz dual core or bigger, i think most of their phones are 4.2 and up. lots of choices with 4.5" and up. as for development support, i think they only have root.

Thanks for the recommendation. Though, I have heard of the blu phone series (life, studio, etc.) but there are many negative reviews on them and the ones that are mostly positive are supposedly framed. So, from what I heard was that some of these BLU labelled phones come DOA, other complaints relate to dead pixels, insta-brick (after a week or so of moderate to heavy usage), unresponsive touchscreens, and of course as you stated, battery life.

I was stuck in the exactly same position. But I also needed a removable battery and an external micro SD card slot. So the moto g was not a good candidate. I ended up going with the optimus f7. It has specs similar to gs3. You should check out the reviews and see what you think.
