Hi guys,
I am currently using Xperia L and I really love it but the new Moto G looks promising with quad core capability.
I am not so expert in hardware but I do know that Quad Core phones like the Micromax, Xolo etc etc in same price catagory can't even play graphic intensive games which Xperia L handles smoothly.
So is it the same case with Moto G?
Is the hardware superior or inferior to our Xperia L?
What could be the difference between KRAIT processors of XL and ARM v7 processors of Moto G?
Only downside of Moto G is that it does not have Expandable Storage..
Still I need more information from you guys..
Should I switch to Moto G or Stay with my lovely XL?
In my opinion you should buy it.I mean almost everything is better about motorola moto g.
1)bigger screen,higher ppi & resolution
2)IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen + corning gorilla glass 3
3)Storage: if you get the 16 gb version you'll be good even without an sd card
4)Good camera.I mean when someone asks you to take a photo you just take the damn photo.Noone will have a screen to watch at full resolution to see it would have been better with 8 mpx.XL camera is better, except the bug in video recording(low light and different bugs on previous fw).thank god they finally fixed at least photo camera...still in my opinion the pics should have more details...Front camera is better on motorola.(1.3 mpx vs vga)
4)KITKAT over JB.Way to go moto g
5)Newer Chipset on motorola. It's the chipset from Xperia SP.but it doesn't have Krait CPU,it has Cortex - A7 quad core clocked at 1.2 ghz(even if it could run up to 1.6 ghz).IMO it's a little better than XL.Just look how well it handles dead trigger 2: link
6)GPU it's the same
7)bigger battery(but non-removable).
Yes, the moto G is waay better than XL in all aspects except non-expandable storage.
Make the switch if you have the cash man.. I would exchange my XL for a Moto G anyday.
Don't think just make the switch
Should make switch if
• you want to miss KK
• dont want quadcore cpu & adreno 305 combination
• dont want better front cam
• better display and dev support :good:
• dont want better phone
Its better than XL in many ways
Well I would like to suggest for Moto G. Reason behind Moto G:
- Newer Android version
-Better Display
-Little bit better CPU and chipset
Draw backs are
-No expandable memory
-I am sure Moto G can't compete the sound quality of XL
-Not that premium feel build like XL
But, I am pretty sure Motorola will not provide crappy and buggy firmwares like Sony. Go for G

Yes, you should make the switch. I have the Xperia L and my brother has the Moto G, he upgraded over the Xperia M (which is quite similar to the L) and was very happy with his decision. The Moto G it better than the L in nearly every aspect excl. camera, no expandable storage, no NFC... Although I must say for the 5MP camera is takes great pictures and front camera is far better than the miserable thing we get on the L. Plus the Moto G is cheaper. So go for it. You might want to take into account the fact that Motorola was recently sold off from Google to Lenovo. Although Lenovo said that they won't mess with the future schedule of Moto products. But the G has got a great Kit-Kat anyway (I have tested it myself).
Edit: Also in terms of build quality, sure the Xperia L looks a lot better (my opinion), but the Moto G feels a lot sturdier in hand.
Atleast moto g does not have multitouch issue....

The sound quality of Moto G is excellent, the music with speaker has a very good quality and powerfull
Personally, I don't think it's worth the switch.
If you're switching from Xperia L to something else, I advise you to switch to something more powerfull, for instance, a Nexus 5. Otherwise you'll just recieve nearly the same device.
thank you very much for suggestions guys....
I will switch to Moto G probably by next month.
Also I need to ask one thing that since I have rooted my XL can I still unroot it and flash the stock rom?? so that whoever takes my XL can avail the warranty which my XL still have it.
I have not unlocked my bootloader, only rooted with script shared with our fellow xda member.
So if I flash the stock rom back again it will not hamper the warranty right?
I still love my XL though but its the battery which is really making me to switch + the official 4.4 update
I am not a hardcore gamer but do play games like PVZ, Candy Crush and browse on the internet a lot and open big office files which reduces the battery of XL drastically.
I have heard that Moto G has good battery backup which can last for atleast 1 full day on medium to high usage. I haven't confirmed that.
I do want to get the higher end phone but budget is tight and I really like the Moto G after seeing it from one of my friend.
Thank you very much for replying and giving your valuable suggestions.

For me multi-touch isn't a big deal.I played robocop w/o any kind of issue.It's true,it's not 100% responsie,but it's 90% playable.

What kind of screen guard are you using?I was thinking to get a matte screen guard because I heard the finger slips better on it so it should give better touch respons...What do yo think?Or we sholdn't use any screenguard in order to increase touch response a little more?

I will get mine next week as of now searching to find the cheapest deal Meanwhile request here for a forum if you haven't already - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354&page=842
Hope so ROM will improve the display and battery life, I will pick mine up probably this week
^depends on popularity, as of now L doesn't have much of a competition in its price range (apart from l9 with inferior specs) so its more or less bound to get some decent activity here and if that happens we'll easily attract devs
Any one bought it yet? It was selling for 16k in hs18 2 days back
I have using mine for a week and I love it. I moved from an Xperia Neo to this phone, they aren't coparable. I can hardly wait for rooting.
Future Xperia L User
In a few hours from now, i will be holding on to my Xperia L bought from Malaysia!
Woohoo!! can't wait to feel it and experience the positive reviews of it!
Well, downside do exist, but to those people who say that this phone is a crap, hold it right there and keep it to yourself.. haha!!
Let's make it popular!

The display is good. I had S2 and hated over-saturated colors and the tint, O.O Battery life is good, too. There's a slight problem with the bloatware draining battery uselessly and the famous media scanner bug in 4.1.x
It's a good phone in this range, probably the best. Although Camera is a little too horrible.

I am thinkin of buying this one in a 2 weeks my budget is rs.20000(approx 350usd)
or sp if i could raise my budget a bit
i wanted to knw the gaming performance of this device and is it better than s2 except for super amoled display?
I'm making an autoroot kernel for XL which will also help you in getting a separate forum as well. I may also work on a custom kernel to remove capped 1 GHz frequency.
Can anyone send me stock kernel.sin?

I will help you to get ftf firmware file. So if you break anything with rooting or somehow you can always go back to what your phone came when you bought it. A complete noob can do it.
You only need to reflash your phones firmware with SMUS and upload few files to web.
You don't void warranty and you do not need root.
It'll help you to get forums maybe
Interested PM me, it will cost you nothing I promise.

it is not a very good idea to work blindly for a device (especially kernels)
to be specific I would like to say
1. do not work blindly on a device if you do not own at least a similar device (similar or same SoC and vendor, like all the 2011 Xperias)
2. even if working on a device is not a problem, releasing it to a place like XDA makes it a tad dangerous for the users.
Hello everyone, I'm currently a N4 user but since the digitizer let me down I need a phone for 200$ the moto g is my best option but there are a few things that I'm afraid of :
-screen sensivity
-microphone
-flickering display
-what I won't be able to enjoy without the gyro
-the I GB of ram does it handle multitasking well?
- roms . are they working good enough ,cm for example ?
I would also like to know if there is some guys who switched from the n4 and their remarks ! Thanks very much in advance

It's pretty good, but when you have it on a padded surface like a bed, some presses won't register if you don't press harder than normal.
-microphone
No one i've called has said they had issues with my voice.
-flickering display
My display flickers using chrome, but I see alot have that issue. Not sure if it's limited to the Moto G.
-what I won't be able to enjoy without the gyro
I didn't even know it didn't have a gyro. Doesn't affect me. Here's what some people said about having a gyro: http://windowsphone.stackexchange.c...gyroscope-on-my-phone-when-using-photosynth-o
-the I GB of ram does it handle multitasking well?
Yes, it handles it fine.
- roms . are they working good enough ,cm for example ?
I'm using Xposed for tweaks, which does only what I want.
I came from the n5 and don't regret it.

Hey guys, I need some on trying to find an android phone for about $200. I've already looked up the Moto G and unfortunately it didn't meet up to my total expectations. I am looking for a device that has:
A 4.5 - 5 inch Display with about 720p HD Capabilities and maybe around 250 - 330 PPI.
Dual or Quad Core Processor (Starting from 1.2Ghz and please try not to post any mediatek cpus)
512 - 2GB of Ram
Good internal storage for some apps.
Android OS 4.1.2 - 4.4 KitKat
Good battery life (something that would last for about a day or so)
Stable.. Smooth (No Chinese Generics)
At least some support from the dev. community.
Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

well since the moto g is out of the picture, i think one of the many BLU phones would be good for you, i have heard good and bad reports about the battery, most of them have 1g or higher gigs of RAM, its seems that lots of their devices (even with small screens) have a great cpu clocked at 1.5ghz dual core or bigger, i think most of their phones are 4.2 and up. lots of choices with 4.5" and up. as for development support, i think they only have root.

Thanks for the recommendation. Though, I have heard of the blu phone series (life, studio, etc.) but there are many negative reviews on them and the ones that are mostly positive are supposedly framed. So, from what I heard was that some of these BLU labelled phones come DOA, other complaints relate to dead pixels, insta-brick (after a week or so of moderate to heavy usage), unresponsive touchscreens, and of course as you stated, battery life.

I was stuck in the exactly same position. But I also needed a removable battery and an external micro SD card slot. So the moto g was not a good candidate. I ended up going with the optimus f7. It has specs similar to gs3. You should check out the reviews and see what you think.

here's the news if u dont know about it..another thing is..xperia e1 benchmark also great aroun 12-13k on antutu benchmark also its not very expensive at all in my country Malaysia, they just released the e1 dual for RM 499 and e1 single sim will be released in april for only RM 449 only..and xperia e in malaysia they sell it for RM 459..is that logic?
if u dont have budget to buy a better phone..i sugggest u to buy this phone..
E1 may seem nice, but sucks in reality for starters it is confirmed by buyers that it can't record 720p Videos...given the fact it is Dual Core 1.2 plus no Flash
Next up is that 512MB of Ram you have if you really want a good phone on a tight budget I'd go for the Xperia M it's fast, and can record HD videos with ease
plus S4+ > S200 the newer Krait Architecture provides better performance.
Actually depends on you guys but not all phones have the good features
Complete agreement with @Revontheus and @MatsPunt.
Sony, what the hell were you thinking? Dual core, 4-inch screen - should be at least qHD, right? But you stick with WVGA.
Camera should be at least 5MP + flash, right? Nope, 3MP flashless unit, probably the same as the E or Tipo.
You could've shipped it with KitKat - but you make JB 4.3 for it first, increasing work for yourself and decreasing buyers.
You could've used a Snapdragon S4 or 400 - but you stuck to the lowly Snapdragon 200.
It's like you want people to buy the Moto G - that's it, isn't it?
yup maybe sony just dont want to dissapoint xperia E user who had switch to this phone already..and thats why they make a kitkat update available for e1 and make other user that didnt have budget to buy a better phone switch to this phone
if we compared to moto g, this phone is better than e1 that have dual core processor
and many more..

Moto g all the way.....sony if you're buying only get the expensive ones....
If budget devices only, then
1]moto g
2]everything else...lenovo,lava,micromax....etc it wont be as good as sony but it will atleast be lagfree (tried all three, most of these phones are AOSP like so no bugs like on sony...pure google, lenovo on the other hand is like samsung, heavy modifications to os but is lagfree)
3]... ...
last choice]htc pico....600mhz but has all the roms 4.3/ 4.4 etc, crap memory ,no gaming ,but works smoothly for everything else

you dont know anything about business/money /profit do you? lol
E is old now....instead of updating it and wasting time+loss of time/money and also not getting any extra sales,
they make a new phone with latest android and stuff, which is impressive on paper...a normal person(non-android freaks like us) would buy a phone that has come new into the market...not one which has the latest update released

Yeah, I think I'm happy with this device, it has a great camera, sometimes it took great shots, but sometimes don't, but I pretty much took a great ones, and then, for perfomance it is decent to powerful, it sometimes a little lagged, but just sometimes, but that lag isn't disturbing anyway, but no confirmation about future updates like 4.3 or 4.4 firmwares, but I'll keep posting about what's new on Xperia L's software updates here, jist for informing you, and for battery, it is bad to decent, but with active use, it lasts at like 7-10 hours without recharging, with my experience for nearly 10 month using it,
Just reminding it's specs for you :
- 8 Megapixels Camera, Exmor RS Sensor, HD Video Recording.
- Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- Dual Core 1 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, MSM8230 Chipset
- 4.3" 854x480, TFT LCD Display
- 1GB RAM, 8GB Internal Storage
- Lithium Ion, 1750 mAh Battery
- Available colours : Black, White, Red.
- Pricing at around 2999000 IDR or at around 266 USD
