[Completed] [Q] How are you using XDA on mobile? - XDA Assist

I've found the mobile site frustrating to view because it jumps around and takes ages to load. All the Android apps I can find for XDA force you to scroll through ten thousand unrelated forums to find the one you need in a seemingly randomly organized list.
Surely there must be some decent way to use a forum dedicated to mobile devices on a mobile device? Just curious how other people are doing it.

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. In the mobile app go to forums. Scroll down to the forum(s) you want to subscribe to and long press on it. Then subscribe to it. Then check your favorites in the mobile app. You should find the forums you subscribe to there.

mobile search unavailable?

I love the website but have to call y'all out when your mobile app tells me that it's search feature is down. Its almost hard to believe its possible with all the talent that utilizes this web site. Just a heads up you may want to fire a web manager

The search feature goes up and down like a whore's drawers. Not really a problem - you can just use Google to carry out a site specific search if you need something. That's what I do most of the time anyway as I find it to be more accurate (not just for XDA, for for most web forums out there)
As for "Firing someone" - most of the people on here do this for free and as the site doesn't make as much revenue through click-ads and the like, we have to accept the odd glitch from time-to-time as our mobile-phone life would be much worse without this great resource.
Yes the search via the mobile devices can be a challenge. I my self use browsers and the apps.

[Completed] Subscribe to a device forum

Hello,
Is it possible to subscribe to a device forum? Like this one for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-500
Instead of heaving to subscribe to all the separate subforums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-500/general
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-500/development
etc, etc..
Hi there,
On the site, it's not possible.
However, if you're using an app to access XDA then you can simply find the Desire 500 forum and long press it and select the option to subscribe to that forum.
Good luck
OK thanks, it would be a nice feature on the site though. If you have a lot of devices it gets a bit messy in control panel

[Completed] Few Questions related to this site.

I have installed the XDA aPP to be able to browse this forums quickly on my note 3.
But.. How can i re-arrange the list of visible forums..
there are lot of forums which I do not want to see in the search results as well while browsing.
Is it possible to delete/hide some forums, so those do not come into search results when searching and also not listed.
This option should be better for advanced users. :good:
Hi,
Just subscribe to the sections and threads you do want to follow, and only those will appear in the subscription tab in the app. ?

[Completed] Help needed

Good Day guys
How do I get notified as soon as any new posts appear in a forum I am interested in ?, that being "Huawei MediaPad X2" forum.
I have the XDA android app, can it be done using that? or by using some automation app such as IFTTT?
Would be great to know as soon as some new content is posted automatically instead of manually checking through all the threads in the forum.
Many thanks
Mark

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
You can be automatically notified of new activity in the forum(s) of your choice by using the "subscribe" feature. You can do so from the XDA App's menu or by clicking on the "subscribe forum" link from your browser while viewing the forum. You can manage your subscribed threads from your User Control Panel at http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php.
For matters dealing with how best to use the XDA Developers site, you may want to browse the "About xda-developers.com" forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda.
I hope this was helpful.

[Completed] Support for the official XDA forum app?

Hi,
I am looking for the right place to get support for the official XDA developer app on android.
I could not identify where I can get this here on the site.
I looked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps
and here: http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-android-app/
but neither provided a clear location where to ask questions about the app.
My question is how to add favorite forums/threads in the app (or on the web for that matter). There is a heart symbol on top the the app screen and I have no idea how to use that.
thanks!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
You can subscribe to any forum or thread. To do that from the mobile app, simply click on the start (or heart) symbol that appears on the status bar while you're viewing that forum or thread, or long-press on the thread/forum name and select "subscribe" from the menu.. To view your subscribed threads from a browser, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php. For each subscription, you can select various options such as whether you want to be informed of new post by email weekly, daily, immediately or not at all. If you select not to be notified, the subscribed threads/forums become a list of "favorites" to which you can refer quickly. For matters dealing with the xda-developers.com site or any of it components and tools, visit the "About xda-developers.com" forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda. If you have specific questions about the XDA Android Apps, ask in the "XDA Android App - Problems / Bugs / Feature Requests etc." thread there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply & help! I was not aware that "favorites" = "subscriptions". I was looking for another button to make a forum a favorite. It's clear now.
