[Q] New e-mail alert - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
My question is that if there is any solution / answer when someone send me an email and it doesn't alert me at the right time. In the settings of the mail option it has 4 choices (none, 5,15,30,1 hour) but it hasn't right now.

Same it seems to not sync to well, maybe the mail app is closing down now n then and only sync manually when opened I don't no but it isn't very good.

Install a 3rd party email app. Cloudmagic, AquaMail, Nine, etc. Thats the only solution for it so far

I want to share my experience with that - I often, read most of the time, don't get email alert on time. The mails are there but the phone is just not ringing...I tried several 3rd party email apps and the end result is always the same. From what I observed, the only on time delivery notification is still the google mail application. For me that's bad since I have 5 email accounts that I constantly need to be alerted of - shame I have to power on the phone, unlock it and check for mail...waste of energy (phones AND mine)...

WM5 - Messaging - POP3 - New Mail Notifications Repeat

I've just upgraded to a Hermes from an Alpine so I'm just getting used to WM5.
I have 3 POP3 email acounts that I have set up to download automatically headers and 2K of messages.
When I get new mail I, of course, get the notification.
If I do not read the mail either by choosing dismiss or view if there are multiple messages so I leave unread messages on the device I get a new mail notification again. I believe that this is the next time that the download is scheduled.
I've searched in the Wizard and Universal forums for notification problems but I cannot find anything about this.
So two questions
1. Is this normal on WM5 ?
2. Is it possible to stop this happening?
This is normal its just reminding you of unread messages.
Thanks, that's what I feared.
IMHO it isn't the way it should work. Even if you have it set to 10 minute download, you can receive quite a few messages in that period. You may only have time to respond to an important one because you are going to be busy for a while. At the same time you then want to know of any new mail and do notwant to keep looking at your phone every 10 minutes to see if the new mail really is new.

Take a look at phonealarm. (www.pocketmax.net)
The app provides repeating alarms for email/sms/missed/voice etc)
Works very well on universal on wm5 so should do on yours - extensive support via the forum.

Thanks Matt but I want less alerts. Seems to me that it's poutlook that raises the notification for unread emails as new email even though you have acknowledged it once.

[Q] email problems - email vanishes...

Ok, I have a number of email related problems...
I'm using POP to sync with my business email, hosted on a managed server.
I can access email no problem, and send.
But, I have the phone set-up to check for mail every 30 mins or so, and it does this ok, and reports 'X' new messages, but when I go to the mail app it shows 'no mail', and I have to refresh to actually see the mail. Very, very annoying, and I guess is costing me more as the phone is data downloading twice! A real issue as I'm 'roaming' a lot...
With mail receiving that's about all the problems. but I'd love a fix if it's something I'm doing wrong.
But, with sent mail the phone seems to decide to delete all sent mail, no matter what setting I have set for mail.
I have no idea why this happens, and more importantly how to stop it.
All previous phones (this is my first Android one) kept all sent mail until I deleted it.
Any ideas regarding these problems?
Clear your mail data from setting and do a fresh mail set up afterwards. Good luck
Ok, trying now...
Is this a known problem???

[Q] Slow gmail notifications?

Is anyone else seeing very slow notifications of new gmail messages on their HTC One S?
My HTC Desire also received them within a few seconds, but the One S seems to take up to 15 minutes to get them. I can't find any settings to change, HTC seem to have hidden away any options?
Thanks
I seem to have found my own solution - I have an Exchange account also configured on the device, and I had "Smart Sync" enabled for it.
Changing that to "Push notification" has seemingly moved gmail to push notifications too...
So if i don't have an exchange account I'm likely to have problems with mail coming in slow?
No, I think it's a bug (or "feature") when you configure an Exchange email account, alongside a gmail account.
If you don't configure an Exchange account at all, then Gmail seems to run fine - it's only if I configure Exchange, then select "Smart Sync" as the email collection method, that Gmail also becomes affected by the Smart sync policy.
Since it seems as though you found the solution I'm going to close this. Pm me if you need it reopened.

[Q] sync interval gmail

Hi everyone,
i have an question about the sync interval of gmail.
at this moment i'm using gmail so that when there is a new mail i'll be notified, this costs a lot of batterylife thru the day.
i want for example that synch interval will be done every hour?
how will i make this happen????????????
grtz roland
Push notifications
I actually believe that the official gmail application for android doesn't let you configure what you're suggesting because it uses push notifications, which means it doesn't wastes battery "asking" the internet when you have a new e-mail, but the internet tells it and it appears instantly.
The only time option in this application is about how many mails do you want your phone to storage in cache, measured in days. For example, if you type 7, you'll always be able to see much quicklier the mails you received last week.

IMAP email results in very frequent blank email bodies

I am having a new problem with IMAP email using Aqua Mail. It is happening several times a day.
When viewing the email list either in the account's inbox or the Smart List when I click on an email to view it the email headers show but the body is empty. The app is fully functional. I can browse forward or backward to other emails but they too are all blank. The only fix is to go into Android's app settings and force close the Aqua Mail app. After force closing I may be able to get through another dozen emails or so before it happens again. Other times I'll get the blank body problem recurring within 2 or 3 emails.
I've done a cache clear. I've deleted account data. I've uninstalled the app.
Aqua Mail has run for a long time on many devices for me including the Nexus 5 since I've owned it. Never had a problem with it.
Any ideas?
