Is OPO worth 400€? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OnePlus doesn't ship their phones to my country, so it's hard to get OPO. I found a guy who sells brand new OPO's for 400€ (sandstone black). I can also buy an LG G3 for 360€, although 2GB version. 3GB variant goes over my budget.
Which one do you think would be a better purchase?
I'm already familiar with complete specs and features of both, and am asking for just personal opinons, which phones do you prefer and whether or not is it worth to pay 400€ for an OPO.

That's pretty expensive, sounds like he's trying to rip people off. You'd be better off buying it from OnePlus and using a freight forwarding service like Shipito to get it to you.

Of course he is, since he's one of the few people that sell OPO here.
I just did a quick calculation, and it would cost me roughly 450€ including Shipito (cheapest rate), custom fees and VAT. Pretty expensive unfortunately

Find a good seller on ebay(/aliexpress) and tell him to mark package lower value. You can get it for only a bit higher than official opo price.

The G3 has a bad battery, 2k resolution but they didn't upgrade the battery.
400 euro is pretty expensive for a OPO...

[Q] Why smartphones are so expensive?

What is the difference between iPod Touch and iPhone? A $5 GSM/CDMA chip? Why $400 price difference?
Large screen Android tablets can be had for $200. Why unlocked phones are $600-800?
Sorry if it's been discussed, my search didn't find a good topic on the subject.
Wow, no answers! Noone else is interested in this question?

Which?
They're expensive because of convenience, demand. people want it they gotta pay....

They are so expensive, because people buy them anyways.
Manufactors and carriers are all after our money, why should they lower the price.
Besides that some devices also have to pay back the research that went into developing them.
Don't have any idea why unlocked phones are costlier but it you compare tablet and phone, size does matter. Smaller, faster and costier.
go overseas and see the prices some can have more then a hundred dollars difference even if they are the same devices
The price triples at the 3rd world countries. I wonder why.
Yeah, you're lucky for not live in a country like Brazil, there a smartphone like S2 or Iphone4 costs around 1000,00 US$ bucks...
well maybe unlucking phone is expensive because its not really designated in any other area than the original area, but the publisher wants to publicly sale it to other region. that can be the cause too
Development is expensive.
You buy a brand, this is why most of the time you pay double.. buy another phone with the same specs but with a non popular brand and you will pay less...
Not to mention that you are talking about Apple...
All your reasoning would apply for everything else electronic- TVs, MP3 or Blue Ray players, etc. Yet they all keep coming down in prices. But not the phones.
Yea, good question I was wondering the same.
It really is a gigantic gap between say an Iphone and Ipod touch in terms of price, yet the hardware has very little difference.
Seems like a marketing thing, as most users will want all the goodies packed together in a small package + a phone in one device.
It's a conspiracy i tell yea
You should see it like this. When you buy a phone, you pay for the development, the construction, the shipping, the people who check it, the people who made the software. add that up with an expensive casing (like HTC has.) and the euro's (or dollars) fly onto the price tag. With Apple, I don't know, they just rip your wallet.
Smartphones are still upcomming, with new technology added every time a new device is being developed.
Why is SSD more expensive than a normal HDD, because it's a new technology. DVD drives used to be really expensive aswell, look at them now they aren't so expensive anymore.
Anything that's new has a price, and it's your choice if you want to pay for it or not.
I hope this helps.
It's not that unbranded phones are more expensive, the price just isn't subsidised by the network operators.
Network operators sell you the handset at a loss, but tie you into a contract to recoup their initial cost. Customer inertia means there's a good chance you'll stay with them.
well they give you much more ie. i have an ace and i can do everything what i usually do on my pc... except gaming ofc.
Unlocked phones are not only expensive because of the demand. When you buy one on contract, you are going to end up paying over $1000 over the 2 year contract anyways. That's why they discount smartphones so much on contract, they know they will get paid back from the contract.

I'm guessing prices don't come down on phones because carriers subsidize prices. Manufacturers know that and therefore prices will stay rather high. Having said that, development on new phone technology is going at a fast rate right now so manufacturers also are recouping those costs.

Everything else also has to be developed, designed, engineered, assembled, shipped and retailed. In fact, iPod was developed before iPhone and they mostly made of the same parts.
Also, if you look at pricing for prepaid phones, I don't think that carriers subsidize that much. Mostly they hike their prices to force us in their contracts.
A week or so ago I saw a link on one of the "deal tracking" sites, an HTC tablet was offered for the same price with no contract or service as the "discounted" price from Sprint.
theyre expensives due to all research and work of the engineers...and of course to obtain more money from all of us...you want the finest and latest technology from theirs...you have to pay whatever their wants...

[Q] If OPO were sold by major manufacturer as flagship phone, what would be MSRP?

It is said that OPO has a great value. If Samsung/LG/Moto/HTC/Sony sells OPO as the flagship phone, how much do you think OPO will be sold at (MSRP)?
(If MSRP is meaningless, then suggest a different measure to compare the prices.)
I think maybe around £650-£750 or around $700
$699.99 my guess.

It would depend on the amount of advertisement, people working there, etc.

How much does the OnePlus One actually cost?

I've seen varying numbers here, so I'm just wondering how much the OnePlus One actually costs in the UK.

From oneplus its £229 for the 16GB version and £269 for the 64GB model. There's a few pound for postage also, can't remember how much.
You can buy without an invite from online companies like oppomart, coolicool, aliexpress, etc. They're usually a bit cheaper but obviously take longer to get here.
I'm stuck between this phone and the Ascend Mate 7 gahh lol

Looks a nice phone too, usual pros and cons for both. Although for customisation and price I think the opo is hard to beat at the moment. I've got a nexus 5 but keep considering a opo, particularly for the battery and better camera. But will probably hold out to next year to see what opo release next. It would be nice to just buy directly from them with no messing about, but maybe that will change.
Below are another couple of great value devices also worth a look.

Your prices are spot-on, the delivery charges are £5.99 for standard and £9.99 for express. Note that it takes OPO 3 working days to process your order...
Also note that buying from APAC usually involves the buyer being liable for import taxes and VAT... which makes the phone F. expensive. And takes ages....

[Q] Is it a bad time to buy a OnePlus One?

Hello all,
My Nexus 4 just finally gave way after over two years of dutiful service. I am currently using an LG L90. It's a fine phone for the $25 I paid for it, but the resolution and performance is a huge step down even from the much older Nexus.
I want a 5.5 inch screen and was able to secure the Alcatel Idol 3 for $199 preordered, shipping at the end of May. It looks like a great deal, but I'm envious of the performance of my partner's G2 with a Snapdragon 800. My N4 was not exactly snappy at loading webpages, which is my primary use, and that's something I value highly. The Idol 3 apparently has some lag apparently, most likely due to software. The battery life is also very important to me. The OPO seems to excel at everything I'm looking for, but it's at the top of my budget.
I'm hoping to get some opinions on whether or not it might be worth spending ~$365 after shipping for the 64GB OPO ($165 more than the Idol). The OnePlus 2 is coming out later this year and there's supposed to be a price drop on the OPO as they sell off their remaining supply, but I think the most we can expect is $50 off. Going through with the Idol 3 order and selling later is an option, but the resale value is not likely to be great.
We also have the G4 releasing soon that might push the price of the G3 down into OPO territory.
On the other end, I've heard rumblings of an influx of bargain phones in the US market like the Idol 3 later this year.
Any thoughts?

No its not a good time to buy an OPO. As you know Oneplus is speculated to launch two phones this year and right now they are trying to saturate the sales of OPO by removing the invite system. If I were you I would wait at least 6 months right now before buying a phone. But you alao gotta settle somewhere since phones will come and go but still its not a good time to buy the OPO

Going by that logic is never a good time to buy any phone, or anything at all in the tech world for that matter. There's always something new coming.

You're saying to wait six months because there'll be a better device coming out. But you could say the exact same thing in six months. So we'd never upgrade because there's always something better coming.

And i also said that you gotta settle somewhere. And usually companies release devices after a gap of one year so it makes sense to wait for about 6 months and then remain in exclusivity for a year.
Anyways it was my opinion so nobody is bound to agree to it and a debate on it is unnecessary.
I think this is the best time to buy it
1. Hype for touchscreen issue is way too high, hence you'll get proper support.
2. I think device manufactured after Jan doesn't exhibit this issue.

I think the only issues with waiting for the OnePlus Two are:
1. It won't be anywhere near as price competitive as the One, OnePlus have confirmed this.
2. The invite system will be back.
3. Spec-wise we're not likely to see much of a bump.
Considering those points, if I was in the market for a new device right now I'd definitely buy the One still.

Thanks for this info, I want a OPO but with all the hype and talk of OPT I've been concerned about buying a device just as it gets updated.
to be fair my screen didn't have the touch issue until after 4 months of use. about the same with 3 of my other friends. sure it's good bang for its buck but having to restart the phone every time the touchscreen issue happens is a nuisance. it's a great phone when it's working 100% though. with that said, I wouldn't mind paying for this used, the g3, or m8 which is all ranging from low to mid $200s something to think about.

Exactly why I ordered mine on May 1, and got it today!! So excited to get back to home!

OnePlus 7Pro from Aliexpress

Hey XDA,
I wanted to ask if anyone have any experience ordering phones from Aliexpress? Price there is just as in any other country except mine which charge about $200 more for the 8GB variant and sometimes even take out the Warp charger so you have to add even more.
If I do decide to purchase the phone there, what should I format? Is it the ROM? is there actually any difference if the OS is Oxygen? sorry if the question is very basic I have never tried to root or anything 'deeper'.
Thank you.
Should you order a phone that is 200 dollars more with less equipment?
