[Q] Can I root a n8010 stuck in odin bootloop (tried everything else ) - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all..or anyone out there
I have had the seemingly strange bootloop problem on my stock note N8010...which stuck on the dreaded "samsung galaxy note 10.1" and only has odin feature working. (and no factory reset options because I think the poor old tab is crammed to bursting with apps, files and cache and so had a meltdown) poor thing.
so anyway I check these sites of techie wonder and wisdom and followed every logical option..starting with the simple ones
first ran power down and tried to boot up (x3) with no joy, then take apart the tablet to disconnect / reconnect the battery and boot up (x3) still no change.
So went and got the firmware from samwares (both jelly bean and kitkat) to then flash through odin....tried and failed first because of dodgy cable, but the then got a new one...and joy of joys (at first) odin recognised my tab and the firmware flashed across with pass..but then auto rebooted straight back into the dreaded samsung 10.1 again....so tried different versions of odins... and tried other global n8010 firmware...but funnily and frustratingly then all fully download and pass in odin (and the andoid logo and green download status bar on the tablet seems to shown that downloading is and has fully taken place.... but the darn thing still wont boot up past the samsung galaxy note 10.1
Sadly coming to the ends of my tether (of so many nearly there false hopes, high and lows) and very little cash to send it to the Sami tech bods doesnt help matter....I then read and tried the (supposed) last resort pit file/firmware option...first with kitkat (as apparently that worked for someone somewhere) and then tried with jelly bean..again each time itAlways passes in odin.... but auto reboots into the dreaded bootloop logo .... to haunt and torment me.. Aaaaagh!!!!.....I would not mind if it said action failed (for once) like some others seem to experiencet...but it always passes in ODIN????
So.....have come to the semi ignorant conclusion it is either the bootloader section of the tablet or the original software that is messed up or some internal hardware component has a fault.
but was wondering if there is anthing left to try...or would it potentially be possible or worth trying to root a tablet in this condition?
As although I have not ventured into the wild worlds of rooting.....I am now pretty confident of messing with this tablets mind..and have little to lose...so any further ideas and help would be great.

Exact same here. Never flashed, totally stock N8010. My wife hadn't used it for a couple of weeks. So she grabs it again and it was off. booted to nothing but the boot logo. Nothing worked except Download mode.
Flashing stock roms has Odin reporting success, but it still won't boot up. Trying re-Partition does give a fail as soon as I press start.
And we aren't alone. It appears there are quite a few of these cases. I have no idea how to solve this.
I have done a bit of rom flashing on my old galaxy S (the first one) and bootloaders and such usually were included in a ROM. Rooting was done with Recovery or an app and I think it was also possible with adb, IIRC (it's been a while).
It's my wife's Note and she's starting to scope out mini iPads...

Same problem with GT-N8010
I am also having the same problem.
I tried to upload a new ROM via ODIN. All was successful from the ODIN app (PASSED). but stuck on the boot screen. Power and Vol up does not work (it appears to but then crashes out to the boot screen again) so no way to do a hard factory reset.
Volume down/power does work and allows you to get to Odin mode. but as above, uploading a new ROM does not seem to work.
This is an un-rooted GT-N8010 with the stock ROM when I purchased it back in 2013 I believe.
Come on guys, give us some ideas.
Thanks
Gene

Sounds like wrong model firmware flashed as that's the usual bootloop problem .
Try Odin firmware flash wait to passed then remove battery for a short while and replace and try recovery mode .

In my case there is no incompatible firmware issue... The tablet just stopped working one morning and that was that.
Can't comment on the other posters though.

My wife's the same. Never done anything to it. No idea how to remove the battery. I let the battery run down once, then recharged it, made no difference.
That was before trying to flash the new firmware. My Note says N8010 on the back, it says so in the download mode. I got a firmware from SamMobile for the N8010. Don't know what else I can do.

[Q] Problems with ODIN/Download mode

Just for reference I have a p5113 model.
A while back I put Cyanogen on my tablet. A few months ago I cracked the screen, only a bit on the corner, of course I can't stand cracked screens so I ordered a replacement. When I installed the screen everything connected fine and dandy so I tried to start it up, but when I did the touch function didn't work. I thought maybe it was just a bad screen that I had ordered, so I got another. When I got the second screen in I replaced it, but this time it was doing the same thing as before where the touch wasn't working! I made sure everything was connected okay and also checked for anything damaged, but everything seemed fine. For some reason I thought maybe hard resetting it would help, but it didn't. At this point I was just trying to get the stock 4.2.2 firmware back on it. I downloaded the firmware, used ODIN to get it onto the tablet. When it restarted after the firmware was loaded on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I heard that it may just need to be factory reset again so I tried to get into recovery mode, but only goes into ODIN/Download mode, which is what my final problem is here.
TL;DR Tablet will not go into recovery mode. Only ODIN/download mode.
I haven't been able to find ANYONE else that has had this problem before. So if anyone knows the source of my problem, I would be very appreciative of your help.
Well you could have fried the capacitive touch circuit with a static charge I have no idea what your skill level is also you could have a bad image or you could have bonked the hardware and it doesn't detect critical boot hardware I'm not that well versed in firmware related boot issues but hopefully some helpful nerd can give you a hand you could also just try again aster you download a new IMG

sounds like a damaged digitizer to me.
may as well get a new tablet as digitizers tend to cost almost the same as a new device...
now... recovery...
this may sound redundant but try flashing the firmware again. when it flashes make sure it says "recovery.img" or similar at some point in the Odin log.
be sure to use the correct pit file and the repartition check box when flashing.
there are usually two or more firmwares per tablet so if one fails to boot recovery try the other.
the site I find that has reliable files is samsung-updates.com but be prepared for slow downloads averaging am hour and a half.

Samsung Note 10.1 (2012) Stuck on logo. HELP PLEASE!!!

Hey Guys,
I am not sure if this is in the right thread but I need help with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, 2012 edition, GT-N8010 16gb wifi model. I flashed it about a year ago with a custom ROM and it was working 100%. It hasn't been used in a while and this happened when I turned it on after a it wasn't used for a few weeks. It currently cannot get past the samsung logo when I start it up. If I start it holding the volume and power button I can get it to Odin mode/download mode where the screen says, "Downloading, Do not turn off target!!" In the top corner it says that the current binary is custom and the system status is official and finally RP SWREV: A2.
I have flashed this with stock software AND a custom Rom with Odin 3.9 and whilst flashing I can see a status bar going across the screen and then Odin say Pass and reboots the tablet but the reboot stalls at the samsung logo. I have also tried to flash CWM and again, Odin says pass but still not getting past the boot logo. When I flashed a stock ROMI think the current binary changes to samsung official, or maybe the system status says samsung official, either way it seems like Odin is successful but yet I still don't get a successful boot.
Should I flash a pit file? To be honest I am not quite sure what that would do, I know as much to say a pit file will repartition but beyond that I really have no idea what a pit file is, or where to get a 100% legitimate one as I know it is incredibly risky.
Seeing as how Odin recognises the tablet I am confident I have not bricked it, softbrick maybe, but surely something can be done to get this up and running due to the fact I can still send and receive a signal through usb? One question I have is, now that i have flashed a custom ROM and stock ROM without any success would USB Debugging be deactivated due to the new stock ROM?
I have got the profession version of Skipsoft Toolkit for this model but cannot seem to make any headway.
Sorry about the long post but I wanted to get all the details in for you guys to reduce the questions going back and forth. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.
Thanks a million in advance!!!!

GT N8000 Bricked Urgent Help

OK, Ive been without my note for a whole day and been researching wht to do nonstop
What happened to me was that, since i had updated to official kitkat, i soon developed a taste for lollipop, and went on to try out different ROMs and finally settled on to crDroid
So it was one of those days where everything was going well until the note stopped opening apps for like a minute then showd a black screen and then all of a sudden restarted
Since this was a Sammy i thought it would get back up again.... But no, even a 5 minute didnt wake this beast up, it remained stuck at the boot logo, i.e, Samasung Galaxy Note 10.1
Im like ok ill go on do a factory reset and wipe cache and all, upon trying to accesss the recovery after the boot logo the recovery kinda opens then gets back at boot logo, a black screen shows up then turns on to be a full brightness black screen for a sec then goes back
I can access the download mode and can odin things but they fail every single time.
I have tried to odin a recovery and a stock recovery so far and they show a nand write error
i also have tried to PIT but they get stuck at get PIT for mapping
I have also tried all versions of odin tried changing a USB Port and the wire with no success
So is there any hope for my NOTE??
Please i need help its urgent

is it rooted ?
i have the same problem from 2 months and i am finally got that i must replace the motherboard
Sounds like its written its last, flash is dead.
Since you are able to enter in download mode there is hope. Trying to flash recovery which doesn't match the firmware version will always fail. So, try flashing some of the base firmwares which will return everything to stock. I was in your situation few months ago and managed to flash Android Revolution HD 4.4.2 after first flashing stock firmware via odin. I got my 4.4.2 base firmware from "sammobile.com", firmware section (sorry i don't have enough posts for using links).
I remember i tried flashing TWRP for GT N8000 and i also tried Philz then CWM all for GT N8000
I also tried flashing base rom but it gives NAND write fail
Nand write fail can mean damaged PIT or the actual nand memory is damaged and needs a new motherboard .
flash with pit file
found these pit files for the device.
you can flash the pit file for GT-N8000 in odin
don't forget to repartition, it's a very delicate situation, you don't want to mess it up, before going to this, you should confirm if the size are same. you wont like to flash a 16gb to 32gb partition.

good luck and please share your fix if its done

same problem for me, this did not work, still write error
I have a similar problem. Everything is stuck. I am tryingo to go back to stock, but if I try to connect (via Odin, Heimdall, fastbot or adb sideload) i can't.
Is there any advice?
Thanks
nope not yet
I'm early ???
So it turned out that my AMAZING tablet had its storage device corrupted... I. E I exceeded the read write count
Similar problem Bricked N8005
I bought my N8005 (variant of N8000 but phone is disabled just data 3G is available) in 2012. I rooted it once and used custom rom for a while but last year installed official stock ROM again. Yesterday I started a game called "zombidle" (possibly this is an unnecessary info) and tablet restarted itself but stuck on "samsung" logo.
I tried to enter recovery mode but it always restarted and cannot enter recovery mode.
Tried to install different versions of CWM, Philz and TWRP recovery using odin but it always FAILed when NANDwrite started. Tried odin 1.85, 1.87, 3.07, 3.09, 3.12 but all same.
I tried to install same stock ROM but always FAILed.
Then I tried to install a custom rom but it failed too.
I read about bad pit files. Searched internet and found some pit files but nothing changed, FAILed at same point.
Did I finished all solutions?
Should I take it to the doctor?
Any sugesstions?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Today I took it to the Samsung doctors. They said that; this is a mainboard issue and mainboard needs to be changed. That will be over 400TL (TL=Turkish Lira). Device is still in markets and new N8005 is 1300TL (i think this is also expensive. Because new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T817 32GB 9.7" is 1900TL in my country).
Does it worth to fix? Any opinions? Can I fix it myself somehow?
Nand write fail probable defunct memory.

[Q] need help to troubleshoot & repair this p5100

Hello
I have the pleasure of trying to help a friend with her tablet, the samsung tab 2 10.1 - gt-p5100 .
The main thing working is the on button , which will boot but only to "samsung tab2 10.1" screen and then black /turn off.
Also I can get it to boot to ODIN mode by holding VOL DWN + power,
after proceeding to Continue with VOL UP , I get the "downloading "
and the screen also tells me
ODIN MODE
Product name GT-P5100
Custom binary download: none
Current binary: Samsung_official.
Odin mode can be turned off by holding the power button for a long while.
The tablet has no functions towards VOL UP + Power which should trigger factory / recovery setting. They do no exist on this device for what ever weird reason.
If plugged in with turned of screen the screen reveals a frozen (not spinning) thinking symbol like an asterix * , the one that would turn into a battery icon should this device boot correctly. But the battery icon never shows up, only the "frozen thinking icon"
Since I have a similar device, the first tab 10.1 called gt-P7500 , some of the components are the same.
So I have trouble shooted already these steps:
Opened device , unplugged battery, waited X minutes, re-plugged. Nothing, same problems.
Opened device, replaced port cord for power cable (the I/O flat cable, is the same in the 7500), Nothing, same problems.
Opened device, replaced battery (also the same from the 7500) , Nothing, same problems.
Also a combo of the both , Nothing, same problems.
Also I reverse tested the flat cord in my own tablet , my tablet boots fine, so the cord is fine.
Also with the battery in my own tablet, my tablet boots fine, the battery looks healty and was almost full, I recharged it fully to 100 % on my own tablet before putting it back into the p5100.
I have also tried various plugs, cable, wall-chargers, car-chargers - originals and copies alike., 1amps, 2amps...from other devices, nothing
I still do no think the charging is the problem nor the battery it self, all these work on my 7500 tablet, but on the p5100 : Nothing, same problems.
Also.. I think if the tablet would have battery issues it would not power on at all and never ever get into ODIN mode, this screen can be on for hours on end.
I also downloaded to see which functions the Odin programme could help me out with, the tablet can connect to the ID:COM , no problem and find any given ROM on my HD.
Of course I also tested connecting the tablet to the PC with the original USB cable WITHOUT Odinmode, but it will trigger connected/not connected sounds and my windows 10 will say : could not identify usb etc etc , and the screen on the tablet will turn on with that "frozen thinking icon"
So..what else can I do beside ask my friend to use the darn thing as a Frisbee ??
How can I get a normal boot sequence going or regain access to recovery/factory settings ??
The device was never rooted, never repaired prior to this. The device is 4 years old, so no more warranty.
check this link
you can try flashing an official firmware without pit file, flash custom recovery and last with pit file. all details should be in the link with details, it's lengthy but should help
Ok so , the occurrences do not mean that the emmc bug has struck this tablet ??? So because it can boot to "downloader" it is still salvageable ?? Please tell me someone if this is the case :crying:
wow i hope so . I have no knowledge of the various innards so to speak, in which order the various bits and bobs are executed and therefor we could know... Meaning my hope now flashing stock/custom and so on and so forth.
What would be the indicators to the emmc bug ? It seems it is a wide spread field of errors , mostly signs of hard brick.
I have just used this P5100XXDNA1_P5100NEEDNA1_P5100XXDMG1_HOME.tar.md5 with ODIN 3.12.3 and it did nothing. The programme ran fine , it worked within minutes. But still boots the same way.
So now while writing my pc is dl'ing the 4Files Firmwares from tsar3000. Sadly I have a feeling it will still boot the same way , I will update once I have tried.

I did mentioned in my guide that if you can enter into download or recovery you can still save the device. but in case it didn't even recovered with the 4 files and pit and considering you tried all the stuffs you could even with the batteries. chances are the case is the faulty emmc card where it's not writing on the card anymore. suspect anything else?
playing Frisbee is a bad idea, you can keep it as a spare if your older device needs some replacement or you can get it repaired.
Hmm ok that does not leave me many options. It is the tablet of my friend, so I will return it to her.
Do you happen to know any sites that deal with the specifics of the hardware?? Meaning a website forum where I can ask these questions. I need to understand which part does what here and specifically which part is failing in this case if we are to throw any more time and money away on this piece. Cheers

Bricked Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100

Got myself this tablet and it was bricked. So sadly I don't know what has been done with it.
When I got it, it was able to charge and go into Odin/Download mode but not recovery mode. I tried reflashing it with Odin using some official ROM because Odin mode said it had was using Official at that time.
Anyway, all my tries failed in Odin @ SetupConnection so theoretically I couldn't modify the tablet at all. Suddenly it wouldn't boot into normal Odin mode anymore.
Only thing it does right now, is boot into the yellow triangle screen ("Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."), even when I try to turn the tablet off.
Later, I gave up on my USB2 port and tried USB3 port. This time flashing ROM with Odin worked (well, it said PASS) but the tablet just shuts off and when I try to power it on later, it just goes back to yellow triangle screen.
Even tried to flash PIT file but it doesn't matter how much I beg it to do something cool, it doesn't work. Just says that there is no PIT partition.
Anyway, it's a GT-P5100 and should be Baltic version (SEB). Any ideas what to do?
Well I heard some users about using OMAP Flasher. No idea how to use it but you can do some research about it I guess...
Yup, I've seen it but didn't think it was my case because I saw pictures of device manager about it where they had OMAP device listed. I don't have it there. Device manager reports my device as something...Samsung...something.
But I will research it cause that seems to be the only thing I haven't looked at yet.
