For instance, I have a pure stock phone. Then I realize I need to use Titanium Backup (root) a bit, so I root my phone. After finishing backing up, I unroot my phone (by uninstalling SuperSU). So, does my phone return to pure stock then? Is unrooting process reliable?

Sorry, I'm kind of new to Android (Samsung Captivate was my first Android phone). I just rooted it today, and installed a new notification-bar-theme. I have Titanium Backup or whatever it's called installed, and same with BusyBox, but every time I try to do it, it force-closes.
Any ideas?
Also, is there a way (If you don't backup) to revert to an unrooted completely stock phone?
I just got a D2G and have 2 questions:
1) Is there a system app removal program like for the droid. Which system apps can be safely removed to speed it up?I'm not in love with MotoBlur
2) If I flash the custom ROM on it and then have to flaSH the original will the phone still be unlocked?
To get rid of all the Blur crap, your going to need to flash a custom rom. However, as far as it being unlocked, I am not sure if SBFing would effect that. It will unroot it for sure, which can be easily redone. Not sure how easy it would be to reunlock though.

Two ways to go right now (as there is really only one truly D2G custom rom)
Flash Fission which has been DeBlurred.
Or
Stick with the Stock and Freeze the programs using Titanium Backup or the DeBlur script
I suggest the Titanium route if you choose this one as you will be able to unfreeze them easily if and when there is another official OTA update made available.
The Official updates will not install if you remove or rename the blur files so it is safer to simply freeze them and unfreeze them whenever you need to update.
Fission is a pretty good rom though and I suggest you give it a shot.
Just be sure to make a nandroid backup of the stock rom in case you want to go back.
And be sure to clear Cache and Data during the Fission flash or you will get a boot loop.
Ok so I'm a newbie for the most part when it comes to rooting and such. Yesterday I rooted my Captivate and flashed Serendipity 6.2 to it. Unfortunately it could not receive calls for some reason so I decided to run titanium backup and use odin to master clear back to factory stock. This worked except now that i've re-rooted the phone, titanium backup isn't showing up in the applications. It says its been downloaded in the market and I can even see it in the applications list under setting, applications, manage applications. But it isnt in the app drawer. What did I do wrong/how can fix this and get my phone back to the rooted but otherwise stock (running the ATT released 2.2.1) that is was yesterday?
Hello,
I just got the htc one s. It currently have 4.1.1 sw. I wanted to stay with the stock Rom, but remove all the bloatware. I rooted the phone and installed titanium backup. I was able to removed all the unwanted apps, but everyone I restart the phone, all the apps come back. Anyone know why and how to fix?

ROM Cleaner is great at this. easy and quick.

Took a while to find all the naming for the apps I wanted to remove using RomCleaner, but was able to get rid of them now. Thanks
I came here to ask a similar question. I just got a new One S black and its up to date. Unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed CWM recovery.
I can run rooted apps fine, but I cant install busybox and ota rootkeeper isnt protecting my root when I ask it. Titanium backup shows its removing apps when I delete them, but when I reboot, theyre back again. Did I do something wrong when rooting, or is this just how the stock rom is?

Install busybox flashable zip through recovery.
To remove stock apps, use RomCleaner as mentioned by @tivofool in the above posts.
I have my Galaxy S5 rooted and a custom rom(Rico's rom or something like that) installed, but my friend with the same phone gets better battery life and she is on stock.
So I was curious, can I restore the stock rom and just install titanium backup as root and unlock the hotspot? Instead of installing superuser and all of the other stuff?
If so how would I go about doing that after restoring it back to stock with ODIN?
Thanks for your help!
I think no. But do your friend gives the same use as you to the phone? That must be the first question.

Titanium backup will not work without supersu/superuser. You can restore stock rom and just root only using those two apps if you'd like. But as the post asks above, are you using the phone in the same way? Same installed apps? Same coverage area? All those factors play a role in battery drain.
