[Q] Battery life problem - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So My OPO Runs Lollipop for the last three months, and battery life was never great.
I've heard that kernels can fix it and give me 8-10 hours screen on time.
flashed franco, metallized, tyr, tgm and changed the profiles with kernel auditor but it just doesn't do anything except make the phone run slower.
does anyone have this issue too?
P.S
I'm currently running cm12.1 nightly and metallized Nev8 and struggle to get 4 hours SOT

Same here, exodus made it a little better. My average screen usage is 4hours then the battery is a nearly zero (having lg watch r always connected to the phone)
Tried BlissPop, CM unoffical by jgcap, cm12 nightly, all result in the same. I also switched from chrome to opera to reduce battery usage, it gives me ~30min more screen on time.
Since I'm playing Hearthstone the battery life is 19-20hours, because Hearthstone drains so much.

Nexus S Battery Issues

Hi all. I purchased a nexus S recently, second hand. It had a 4.1.1 stock JB installed. The battery life was horrible, i hardly managed 5 hours with less than 2 hours of screen time. I changed the rom to CM 10.1.3 stable, although i do know that CM roms are battery hungry yet battery remained about the same as before. Thinking maybe the battery was faulty, i got a new one. It seems slightly better but still i am managing only 2 hours screen time with Cm10.1.3 and a matrix kernel. Plus, the charging is SUPER SLOW. Takes more than 4 hours to reach 100% charge. Is that normal? Kindly any suggestions would be appreciated.
maybe is battery problem ..change it
Battery problem is common issues in nexus S..I am hardly get 2 hr + screen on time..

Hi There
you can try to clean the -ve,+ve and the BSI terminals of the battery get them back to golden color and charge it to 100% then Calibre it.

[H]Insane battery consumption in CM11 (4.4.2)

Recently installed CM11 in my Moto G XT1032 and noticed an insane battery consumption during usage, like 1% down every 5 to 8 minutes, the battery status says its the screen that is consuming the most but I have already set it to minimum. During sleep it's pretty fine, just like in stock firmware.
I updated CM to the latest nightly build 20140330 but the consumption still pretty high.
Here are some fixes I tried without success:
- Turn off location
- Disable WiFi always scan
- Change CPU to interactive mode
- Brightness set to minimum
I'm coming from stock firmware and I installed CM using their wiki guide.
Anybody got a solution or a suggestion?
Thanks
Quite the opposite for me. Screen being the highest is normal. I've had my phone on for 1d 2h 20m and 3 hours and 5 minutes of screen on time and i still have 46% battery.
Maybe, it could be a buggy app you have that's taking up your resources.
Also, try turning of KSM in the performance settings in CM. It apparently takes up some battery life as it uses some CPU power. I have it on on my device though.
Try the stuff i told you and post results~
By the way, i'm using Savoca's Furnace Kernel. Try that to see if it helps your battery.

Could be your radio. Depending on your device coming for Asia, India, US. I am in Europa and had to flash
the Asia radio for everything to function correctly. Don't know if that is the case with yours.
But if an clean flash doesn't work, then I would consider it. No hassle.

I flashed the last stable version and still got the same drain issue, I decided that I would go back to stock and wait for the next stable version since a lot of people with different phones are having the same issue and according to my research many still didn't find any solution besides downgrading to CM 10.2.
I don't know if I can report this as a bug since it's looks like a kernel issue or some background/system process forcing the CPU. I hope the developers already know about this because still a recent, and decent, ROM and a lot of people are facing this problem.

[Q] Best ROM, kernel and tweaks for Battery Life ?

Hello all !
I know it has been discussed many times, but nobody ever gave me a precise answer.
I usually get 12h max with ~3h of screen usage with my OPO. I'm using stock CM 11S with Franco Kernel right now.
What do you suggest me to do to at least be able to keep my phone alive during 24 hours with at least 5 hours of screen on ? It seems some people manage to get even better but this would be enough for me.
Thank you by advance
just do a clean reflash of cm11S xnph38R... with 4h30 hours of display, i do 4 days of battery..! (without any kernel)

Couple of things first off you should ask here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/best-favorite-rom-kernel-roll-thread-t2886021
Secondly, I am confused why people ask for the best since the best in this case is subjective. Now there are threads upon threads you can read up on to see how to fix your battery life. Also what are you doing on your phone. I mean is wifi on all day are you in a bad signal area, is gps on, do you play game, is your brightness on full blast, do you use google now...
I can go on for days and days with this. YOU my friend YOU have to evaluate your phone and fix these things. WE here at xda can try and help but YOU yes YOU have to do the leg work and figure out do you have wakelocks. Its a lot my friend a lot....:cyclops:
Thanks for your answers I understand that fine tuning is not always required and that battery life depends on my usage... but seriously in my case, it gets worse and worse everyday :s I think I'm gonna try to fully go back to stock.
Do you have any general recommendation that works in every situation ? Like general advice about some settings that could help me win 2-3 hours ?
All roms and kernel are good. they all have their ups and downs.
i'm using stock 38r rooted and still can get 5h screen on time depending on usage.
u can try using greenify to sleep useless apps when not using them.
i used greenify to hibernate most of my social app.
For more battery life use Boeffla Linaro kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...nel-boeffla-kernel-linaro-sabermod-t2910357); It seems to be very smooth with low battery usage, but nobody can say if its stable. Since today I'm using sabermod build now, to be sure my UV is not too much . I use ZZMoove Optimal with 422mhz-1700mhz and Hotplug optimized, 422mhz because on the lowest value the music isn't playing smooth with one core online. I now have 28% left with 3h hours of screen time.
Edit: Anybody has 44S OTA?
Battery life is user dependent. I get 5 hours+ daily on lte and WiFi using stock and wifi. On wifi I get more. I recommend you check for rogue apps using betterbatterystats or wakelock detector. Do you use location services and such?

Battery

I could never pump out more than 5h SoT on my opo. Right now I'm getting around 3h before I need to charge it . I'm on stock Cyanogen on 12. I've tried exodus etc and it's all the same :/ My usage isn't even that heavy, I don't play any games at all so I'm sure this is either a rom issue or faulty hardware issue not sure. Is there any setting/rom you guys recommend ? I was thinking about going back to Kitkat but which version has the best battery life ? Thanks and I appreciate any help whatsoever
PS: I disabled the Google services battery drain.
Bump
hello dev
i advice you of using this rom
resurrection remix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-resurrection-remix-lp-5-2-0-t2971715
at the moment i'm using it and it's perfect not a single problem mem leak or battery
:good:
Exodus should give you a hell of a battery life. I have heard nothing but good stuff about that ROM. I myself have not used it yet, but I'm planning to.
I get between 4,5 - 6 hours SOT with AK kernel and v1.9 of real_pac's synapse settings. I also use greenify.
Try rooting your phone and add these additional tweaks, your battery life should be much better!
I am rooted and everything. I was on exodus but it was as good as cm12 nightlies :/ Resurrection I have tried too and i only got 3h SoT I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong unfortunately . I'll try to use greenify and I'll report back
I feel you, never got more than around 3 hours of SOT. Brightness is always below 50 percent, I turn off gps when I dont use it, 3G/wifi all day long. Im running exodus as some people said it had amazing battery life, but don't really see a difference. I am rooted with he paid version of greenify + the paid version of amplify, and the power nap xposed module aswell as privacy guard on google play services. Yet I never ever even get close to the 4-9 hours SOT which some people seem to get. I really don't understand it either..
what's the awake time on your Android System or Android OS? I think I'm in the same boat, flashed BlissPop and RenderUber and left it idle with no additional settings or apps installed, then come back to it and find a good chunk of battery life gone. Both roms had Android System using 1hr of awake time.
Then I installed BBS on both roms, found nothing. Google Play Services wake up permission is disabled in Privacy Blocker, haven't installed Greenify or Servicely yet but just wondering why on stock settings there'd be such a heavy drain.
Update:
Just found something interesting. The battery drain now is just pathetic. Powered up my phone, left it idle for 30 seconds and reboot. Bam, 1% of battery life gone. Repeated this 5 times in a row, every time the phone reboots, 1% of battery will drop. It doesn't drop right after, it sometimes drop after the phone idles for about 1~2 minute but that's just insane.

This is completely normal, the boot process is very intensive and consumes more battery than if your phone was just sitting idle, or even being used normally.

For those of you desiring a phone with +6h SoT. Revert back to cm11s and be happy with your SoT. I did two days ago and I have no regrets. Running amplify with greenify simultaneously and I'm getting around 7h SoT.

New user - Kernel on Stock CM

Howdy folks,
New OnePlus One user, coming from a Galaxy S3 after years of holding out on an upgrade.
Looking to keep the phone reasonably stock for now (although some of those custom ROMs sure look tempting!) so I've decided to stick with CM12 (which is what I believe it came loaded with) until the OTA to CM13.
But I'm finding the battery life a bit tough to swallow - I'm getting about 60-80 minutes SOT with a total battery life of about 8-9 hours (email checks, browsing the web 3-4 times a day, one GPS check daily) before I hit 5%. Ideally I'd like to have 100-120 minutes SOT with a total battery life of 16-18 hours before I have to charge.
So I'm thinking an underclocked kernel may be the way to go. Problem is - I'm not sure which kernel is even compatible with CM12 at this point, or what would fit my needs, as everyone seems to have moved on to CM13 already, and I'll be honest with you all - I feel lost.
Can anyone suggest a path to better battery life through kernel?
Thanks in advance!
Go back to CM11S. 8 hours sot on Wi-Fi, slightly less on mobile data. No new features are worth the crippled battery life. All roms after 4.4, both custom and official are plagued by the mobile radio active bug and it hasn't been fixed yet. So stick to 4.4 stock and you will get mind-numbing battery life.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm looking to try an underclocked kernel first on CM12 before I downgrade. Besides, with CM13 around the corner that should help with battery life, no?

underclocking doest do anything when the phone itself doesnt sleep. I'm on CM13 nightlies and doze doesnt work half the time, the other half battery drain is just insane from all kinds of sources (Cyanogen System and mobile radio active). I've had this phone for a year and a half now and I've tried all the roms and kernels one can try but nothing so far has come even close to any 4.4 rom. Again, if you want the newest features and don't give a damn about battery life over extended periods, if you don't spent more than 4~ hours per day staring into your phone, if you charge daily, go for any rom you want. If you want a dependable phone that could keep you going for even 4~ days on a single charge with moderate usage (messages, light browsing, bit of gps) then go for a 4.4 rom. Preferably stock CM11S.

Okay, thank you for your input. Doesn't really answer what I'm looking for, but I guess I'll keep it in mind.
Update - decided to stray from stock and loaded Sultan's CM12 ROM - currently have 3.5 hours SOT and 20 hours total with 40% left. That's good for me!
