[Q] Enable HD Voice on Rogers or any other provider? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does any know how to enable HD Voice on Oneplus One? I am already using CM12.1 using Android 5.11 code base which suppose to support HD voice. But as far as I can tell, the voice quality during a phone call is just normal. I used to able to use Nexus 5 calling my wife's iPhone 5s and the sound quality is much better. I believe that's HD voice but I am not 100% sure.

[Q] Problem with HD Voice on HTC One S

I have an unlocked Telus HTC One S that I am currently using on Rogers. A few weeks ago, Rogers released HD Voice to a select list of devices. I was excited to see that the HTC One S (PJ40110) was included. I cannot figure out how to enable my phone to use it. I am aware that for it to work, you must call someone with a HD Voice ready phone on Rogers. My bro has an iPhone 5 on Rogers and HD Voice has been working for him (sounds awesome). Any ideas on what I can do? My connection jumps from 3g to H not a stable 4g. Could this be a reason why?

Moving on from the Motorola Milestone 1. Any phones that offer 2-way call recording?

I am sadly moving on from the Motrola Milestone after nearly 4 years, it finally died.
Temporarily using a Droid 3 XT862 w/ GSM radio installed until I can find the best device for my needs. Being stuck at Gingerbread and essentially no Roms isn't fun.
Are there any GSM AT&T compatible phones out there that have automatic 2-way call recording enabled like the Milestone did? The few phones I've looked at do not seem to have this feature, including most of the Motorola series after the Droid 3.

Well I know that my s3 on vzw will do call recording on hyper drive rls15 with no problem. At&t has an s3 as well. It's a solid phone and rom.
Granted it's not a fully automatic recording, activating it requires one button press. The files are not large either and if you search the phone in a file browser with the term "call" it should pop up the calls recorded. It will record 3 way as well. It will NOT record whilst using a Bluetooth headset, at least it won't with the Bluetooth radio in my tC.
Hope this helped.

HD Voice on the Nexus 5 (AMR-WB)

Is there a way to enable HD Voice (WB-AMR) on the Nexus 5? For some weird reason, the Galaxy Nexus is supported by Rogers for HD Voice but not the Nexus 5.
Some people here have figured out how to enable it on the Galaxy S4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2287992
But I can't figure out how to access the service menu on the Nexus 5 on 4.4.2... Or maybe it is already enabled but I can't check it?
Anyone who can figure this out will be the star of XDA's Nexus 5 forum!

it works fine on tmobile. its obvious when its connected, and sounds wonderful. theres no service menu, its just enabled.
It works out of the box on Tmobile. As the previous guy said, it's really obvious if it works.
I'm surprised on T-Mobile's End I had a full size sim from my Nexus s cut it into a micro sim and i was surprised to see LTE on an OLD sim card also HD voice does sound amazing its like landline quality but sounds better! but when it drops to EDGE or GPRS it sounds like [email protected] but oh well i got HSPA everywhere.
HD-Voice is bounds better than landline...i've only had it work between my mom's windows phone and my N5 on tmobile...at&t sounds like crap, all the other phones sound like crap too. I hope at&t enables it soon so I can actually understand my girlfriend better.
Works out of box here on Bell. You have to be talking to other people with HD voice enabled phones. Whenever I phone my brother on his HTC One it sounds amazing..it puts land lines to shame.
I think it needs to be support also via your carrier... but I think most of the carriers have them enabled...

Not in the US. Tmobile is the only one that has it. ATT is coming this year or sometime soon.

But there must be a service menu to figure out if AMR-WB is activated or not? For example, the S4 has HD Voice capability but people have figured out how to activate it in the service menu.

Does AMR-WB only work when LTE is activated? I get frequent call drops on my Nexus 5 and some people have gotten relief when they disable LTE and switch to 3G.

It is quite bizarre that on Rogers/Fido, Canada's largest network, they say that only certain phones support HD Voice. The Galaxy Nexus is supported but the Nexus 4 and 5 or not supported! I even called and asked!

Rogers/Fido offers HD Voice but I think that they have to add support on a individual device basis. It supports the Galaxy Nexus, but not the Nexus 4 or 5!
This is why I believe that there has got to be a way to access the Service menu on the Nexus 5 and activate AMR-WB support. People can do it on the S4!

That's weird. Clearly it does work on this phone on other carriers. Then again it is Rogers we're talking about, so I'm not surprised.

I want to know how to access the service menu to check if AMR-WB is on or not. Some test calls I've made (EE - UK) don't sound like it's working properly.

All solutions involving *#0011# and *#197328640# don't work. No idea what to do now :/
I was making some calls today, where I had LTE. The expected behaviour would be that the device switches to 3G for voice calls, but it seems to me like my N5 is using 2G. So it seems that despite being on a network which i know has working HD Voice, the Nexus 5 doesn't work. Bummer.
A lot of people claimed that HD voice is working for nexus 5. In my it did not (and my carrier supports this feature). Now, when android 5.1 released, there is an item in change log - provide support for HD voice. So no idea how this worked before, but will check it on 5.1 and hope it will work.

For me it is not working (despite carrier says it should). I am on 5.1 - same result.
I have OnePlus phone and HD Voice is working perfect - seems that it is phone or carrier issue.

I am using OnePlus phone on CM12.1 nightly build or Android 5.11. Do you need to do anything to enable HD Voice?
No, it just works.

The only requirement is hd voice. So if the phone has hd voice then numbersync should work.

Amazing phone unless you need this to make actual phone calls

I love everything about this phone. If you dont make any actual phone calls it is perfect. Unfortunately, it has a huge flaw with call quality.
I use tmobile and have the unlocked phone directly from oneplus so I use this oneplus 7 pro on weekends and my Note 9 during the week when I need to make calls. The call quality difference is so obvious between the Note 9 and the Oneplus. I went into Tmobile and they said my APN's are perfect and everything looks great. Anyone else notice this? Thanks
I also don't make a ton of calls, but the ones i have made or taken have had no issue whatsoever. I use Mint Mobile which is an MVNO of tmobile, so i use the same APNs. Might try just restoring or possibly contact oneplus about it. Could be a hardware issue.
No issues on call quality here. Comes in crisper than a lot of other phones actually. I'm use the tmobile as well but I'm on international firmware.

Same and I have no issues or complains with call quality.
I have pretty poor call quality myself. But for me is most likely because I'm used to VoLTE from my Pixel 3 XL. My carrier hasn't provisioned OnePlus phones for VoLTE or VoWiFi.
I want to try the force VoLTE enabler but I'm a little concerned with things going south.
Call quality is as good as ever for me. No issues at all. On T-Mobile, unlocked OnePlus direct from OnePlus.
call quality isnt that good for me on my pixel 2 xl

Think you might be on the wrong device forum bud....
Super clear on my phone. T-Mobile here unlocked from OnePlus and stock APN. Best reception and quality I've had on a phone.
I have to say this is my first op device I've been running pixels the last few years, on Verizon. my call experience has been great . one thing I can tell you that is better is the Bluetooth is way better
Zero issues with call quality on my T-mobile Oneplus 7 Pro.
I like it better than the quality I was getting on my S9 Plus.
My call quality is fine with my unlocked Oneplus 7 Pro on T-Mobile.

This is pretty important .... Are you on the same carrier with your Note and your OP?
Any other possible variables??
Yes, I am on the same carrier T-Mobile and use the same SIM card. Hopefully this can be fixed with a software update. I'm on the phone all day long. Most people are not on the phone all day long so they might not notice any issues
I am on my phone 2-3 hours a day, but mostly on Bluetooth. T-MOBILE carrier, unlocked version. I am driving out in the country, where service is boarder line, and the signal is better than most phones I have used. Call quality is great. VOLTE when I'm out, and VOWIFI at home. Although when not on Bluetooth, I have to move the phone around to find the spot where I can hear the speaker the best.

TMobile converted to international. My call quality was poor until I turned off wifi calling. Haven't tried VoLTE yet, normal calls sound great.

Who has the time to actually make phonecalls these days? If someone calls me, lol, I'm looking for nearest Bluetooth earbud so that I can actually continue whatever I was working on. BTW, phone's upper speaker is great! Please check if you have voice over lte and wifi on.
On T-Mobile and my call quality is great! My girl even mentioned that it sounded much better than my lg v30 before it. I'd have it looked at and possibly replaced. Nothing wrong with this phone's call quality...

I am using the US version from oneplus website. I am on tmobile, I have had no issues with call quality. If anything call quality has improved over my old phone, 5t and pixel 2xl.
I've had no issues at all. Also I purchased mine though OnePlus and I use T Mobile as well.
