You can do that,,, i forgot the command but i think it is what i wrote...
@op -- DId you try both the commands that we gave you ??? Try mine first...
EDIT :: I'm correct -- check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415668
But after Android 4.4 it should only be fastboot boot twrp.img
Check the link, its mentioned in the fastboot section
Cheers

You are s-on. So flashing won't update boot.img
connect via fastboot and flash boot.img (extract from insertcoin zip) manually typing: "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Roger that

Hi can someone help me
I fastboot installed twrp when I try to reboot to recovery I get a no command and tried the power and volume up but takes to me to stock recovery.
I flashed elemental kernel after install does that wipe twrp or something?
Using Magisk as well
did you do fastboot boot twrp.img and then flash the zip in twrp or did you just try to flash the image file using fastboot flash recovery twrp.zip?

You need to fastboot boot twrp image, install twrp-pixel-installer-sailfish-3.0.2-0-RC1, reboot recovery, if you want root, then install SuperSU, reboot.

This is what you are doing wrong
actually in most Sony devices , you have to flash a kernel that contains the recovery in it.
When you unlock the bootloader, Sony's stock kernel freezes the recovery partition, thus you will need a custom kernel to be able to access recovery again
modern sony devices has custom kernels that has twrp built to them

https://app.box.com/s/tukm9i0xa38ccksoxdc89r3djfxl8gfb
download this and unzip it
you will find a boot.img file or a file with the name of the kernel.img
Take that file into the fastboot path
rename it to boot.img
put the phone into fastboot
type
fastboot flash boot boot.img
this should get you the custom kernel with twrp included , you can then update the twrp accordingly

thanks buddy. So it would be
fastboot flash twrp...img
or the .zip?
fastboot flash boot twrp.img
twrp.img = name of the twrp image, not the zip.

You saved my ass (K30 5G). Thanks m8.
Thank you guys for answers. I have mi 8 lite and I've been trying to fix splash logo bug for almost 3 days. Here's what worked for me:
1. enter fastboot and enter these commands
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
2. Boot into recovery using volume buttons, not fastboot.

This has worked for me perfectly! Thanks!
I get this problem on my Mi 8 SPECIFICALLY after installing Pixel Experience. With other ROMs I don't have this issue.
Hi,
Question about the 'fastboot erase userdata' command : does it format the phone ? I mean, I have my phone running, Pixel Experience 12 on Oneplus 5T, and I would like to apply an update, and no way to enter in TWRP...
I wouldn't have to reinstall everything after that.
Thanks in advance
Hello Friends in dipper & PE I got this message at each time when trying to update :
adb sideload PixelExperience_dipper-12.1-20220521.zip
loading: 'PixelExperience_dipper-12.1-20220521.zip'
* cannot read 'PixelExperience_dipper-12.1-20220521.zip' *
& I don't know what to do; other recoveries get stuck on logo (TWRP, Orange fox)
I just succeed to root with magisk (by sideloading).
Is the ROM OK? I Ihoped with factory reset and changing recovery, not better...
Thanks for your help
