TWRP - No command - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi can someone help me
I fastboot installed twrp when I try to reboot to recovery I get a no command and tried the power and volume up but takes to me to stock recovery.
I flashed elemental kernel after install does that wipe twrp or something?

Using Magisk as well

did you do fastboot boot twrp.img and then flash the zip in twrp or did you just try to flash the image file using fastboot flash recovery twrp.zip?

You need to fastboot boot twrp image, install twrp-pixel-installer-sailfish-3.0.2-0-RC1, reboot recovery, if you want root, then install SuperSU, reboot.

Installed recovery, blank screen

Hi all, I have through fastboot flashed a TWRP recovery to my Xperia Z5. But, It doesn't work. When I try to boot into recovery I just get a black screen with a blue LED at the top. I have tried also using adb to reboot into recovery but still no luck. It just boots into the OS. Any idea? Cheers

Bootloader Unlocked?
TWRP flashed to recovery partition?
Did you try patched kernel?
Built in patched kernel has TWRP, no need to flash TWRP separately.

Phone boot only in recovery mode, or fastboot

Hello
I just installed Lineage, and it worked, installed it via fastboot boot recovery...
After installation, I wanted to install the recovery too, so i run the command fastboot flash recovery
Then I try it, and it's working. TWRP 3.0.2.0.
But, after reboot, it's booting directly to TWRP. Again and again. can't boot normally to system...
Anyone have a solution ?
Thank you

Can't install TWRP in Android 9

I was running stock OOS with Android 8.1 with the normal TWRP and Magisk working. When the OOS 9 got out, I installed the full OTA through TWRP (dirty flash) and everything went perfectly, with no problems whatsoever, but I lost TWRP and Magisk, of course.
Now in Android 9 I can't seem to reinstall TWRP (I'm trying with the latest bluespark): I can boot TWRP from fastboot and install Magisk, everything is fine, Magisk works great. However, when I try to install the TWRP zip (through the fastboot loaded TWRP), the phone freezes at the bootloader warning and doesn't boot (and I have to reinstall the full OTA zip to get the phone working again). Or, some other times, it reboots always to the recovery and never to the OS. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks in advance.
What version of bluespark are you using ?? v2

I also tried to fastboot boot blu_spark twrp V2 IMG.... This ended in a black screen. I used the latest official twrp without a problem on pie.

Cuz of kernel panic. When you boot into twrp after fastboot command - unplag your cable from pc when the command is done, then disable mtp, connect to pc and re-enable mtp.
Dont forget to click thanks
And yeah, use blu spark's TWRP, not official one
Came here from google.

This procedure didn't work for me, for some reason "fastboot boot twrp.img" was leading to black screen.
What worked for me was
1) Boot to fastboot
2) fastboot flash twrpXXX.img
3) Without rebooting, select recovery from fastboot's bootloader menu
4) If you are able to boot in twrp this time, then flash blu spark twrp.
5) Reboot
6) Try to reboot in recovery as usual
If all worked well, you should see twrp recovery.
Cheers.

Can't exit bootloader after trying to reinstall TWRP on android 10

I updated to android 10 an hour ago, and placed my phone into the bootloader so I could re-flash TWRP. After I ran the command (fastboot flash boot C:\Users\USER\Downloads\twrp-3.3.1-4-guacamole.img), and tried rebooting, I couldn't leave the bootloader. I've tried using the buttons, trying to push the img to the phone and force it into TWRP, but nothing works. I think I didn't enable USB debugging when I entered the bootloader, but it was enabled before I updated.
It's a known issue, the commands aren't included in the bootloader for q yet. We need to wait for OnePlus to add them. To fix your problem, try fastboot booting the magisk patched boot.img for the 10 beta.
USB Debugging has nothing to do with fastboot.... Just flash stock boot img or a patched with twrp/magisk and boot your phone usually

First you don't flash the TWRP image.
That image is used as a fastboot boot. It is not to be flashed.
Normally, you would boot with that image and flash the TWRP zip to make it permanent.
Once TWRP is flashed, you need to also flash Magisk.
To get out of the situation you are in, you need a stock boot image to flash.
Once that is done, you can start over.
Read the instructions carefully before flashing images.

Just to clarify then, when I run fastboot flash boot TWRP, I use the zip? If not, what command am I using?!

No, no, no.
TWRP can only be flashed from either TWRP or Magisk.
On this device, you can only boot the image file. You can only flash the zip while running a booted TWRP or from the Magisk Manager.

Hope I can explain myself. You are using a command you shouldn't be using: fastboot FLASH boot, you shouldn't flash the image from fastboot, you need to use that image to boot into recovery and then flash recovery itself from INSIDE recovery, then you NEED to flash Magisk from inside recovery too.
The command is: fastboot boot recovery.img
Btw, you can't see the "modules" option in Magisk because I think you flashed stock boot.img. Try flashing Magisk patched boot img and then flash recovery in Magisk as it was said before.
Did you click all the 3 buttons at once?

This is not a command you will find in any guide for this device (at least not any guide that is correct)!
The command you used, flashed the image to over-write the boot partition, which is essentially the kernel. You no longer have a kernel, so of course the phone cannot properly boot to OS. This is also not the correct way to install TWRP, so therefore you have no TWRP installed on the phone, either.
Proper sequence to install TWRP would have been:
1) fastboot boot TWRP.img
This only "boots" into TWRP, but does not install it. I know the syntax here is confusing. "boot" versus "flash boot" do completely different things. In this case "boot" is the action. In the command you used "flash" is the action, and the "boot" partition is the location.
2) Flash TWRP installer zip
3) Flash Magisk
At this point, the easiest path is probably to do what was suggested in Reply #6 above (flash patched boot image, boot to OS, open Magisk and install TWRP from Magisk).

paranoid Android back to stock 10.3.0?

I'm on the latest paranoid Android beta with twrp and magisk installed, can someone provide me with the steps to flash stock ROM 10.3.0 without losing twrp? I don't mind not being rooted
Thanks in advance!
just download the rom from here
flash it via twrp
then after setting up your device reboot to fastboot mode and boot into twrp image
then flash twrp again( be sure to use the latest twrp image otherwise you will not be able to boot into twrp)
ps i dont now if thats gonna work:
flash the rom via twrp
flash twrp.zip
reboot to recovery and again reboot to system
Does TWRP work with 10.30? I couldn't get mine to boot TWRP once I went to 10.30

- unistall magisk
- reboot recovery
- flash the rom zip
- flash twrp zip
- reboot recovery
- flash magisk

Sure you can flash it, try 3.3.1-16 !
If you get an error by
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-16-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img
try
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-16-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img
.
