[Completed] [Q] Connecting Android phone to TV via an RCA Cable - XDA Assist

So, my brother bought a new multi purpose cable for his android and asked me to connect his phone to our TV. I was a bit skeptical as to how the phone will recognise the type of output to it needs to produce in order for it to replicate the screen onto the tv
After failing at first, i tried to search in settings, however all it showed under display settings was some wireless options, which is of course not what i am looking for. My brother uses Galaxy s3 mini and sister uses Galaxy s4, connected both devices and nothing happened. i use htc m7, but my phone is only good for charging, it doesnt transfer data (probably a hardware issue, i transfer files wirelessly, so never went about repairing it)
I am attaching a picture of the cable for your reference. Any guidance in the right direction is much appreciated
Thanks!

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I don't think it's going to be possible to connect your device to the tv. Although not for your device, I did find some threads that discuss this:

[Q] Using USB connection to console into devices on iRulu 10.1 tablet

I need help... I am new to Android tablets and operating systems so I apologize if I don't give enough information right from the start and if I am asking too simple of a question. I recently purchased an iRulu 10.1" tablet. I am very happy with it since it does what I purchased it for with one exception... I wanted to use one of the USB ports to connect my USB to 9 pin serial adapter so that I can console into different devices we use at my work. Both ports work since I am able to plug in a mouse or keyboard and both function, but the USB dongle I use on my laptop will not even be recognized on the tablet... Someone please tell me what I am missing. Is it a driver? New USB adapter? Some app? I've tried a few solutions and they have not yielded any positive results. I have installed a couple of apps and they don't even recognize the adapter as being connected. Thank you for any and all assistance!!
Noe
I wouldn't expect a usb dongle to work because I don't believe any of the Irulu devices have bluetooth capability from what I understand. I don't know for sure though since I am new to this device. I just got one (Model#: AN101 AllWinner A10 CPU) myself on Thursday and doing the research trying to flash JellyBean onto it for now.
Mine came with it's own USB keyboard/stand combo so I don't expect to need a BT keyboard but they are so nice you never can tell what I may want once I get JB on here.
I just figured I'd post to keep this thread alive for ya and input. Good luck

[Q] Lenovo A2107 A-H Issue

Dear All,
I have a Lenovo A2107 A-H tablet purchased from UK market. Unfortunately, I have been using it in India for the past few months and it appears that the USB is non functional at the moment. Ironically, it gets charged up while connected to the PC but the device doesn't get recognized in the device manager. I have even downloaded the source code from the Lenovo web site. However, being a novice, I am not able to use it to figure out whats wrong with my tablet. Some of the common boot-up methods have been tested but all in vain. I kindly request some one to help me out. I have Eclipse IDE and can do code testing of the source if someone can guide me. Also, I would like to know how can I transfer my data between the device and my PC while the USB is non-functional? Also, I am aware of the general Wi-Fi connectivity to transfer file but I am interested in fixing up my USB connector so that it's more viable. Please suggest some help.
Appreciate your inputs!
Uncommon, but you might have to replace the usb port of your tablet. But, before that, have you tried using other cables? There are some cables intended only for charging (even if they have USB ports)

A new kind of brick

I have a SCH-I915 (Verizon) which is not recognized by any machine that it gets plugged into. There's no unknown device, no beep of a usb connection, it does beep like a charger has been connected (and gets the red x on the battery icon, indicating the amperage is insufficient), but the PC doesn't recognize there's an interactive device on the other end. I have spent 3 days combing the forums. I can assure everyone, it is NOT a driver issue. For one thing, the same laptop that flashed the wrong firmware and unlocked the bootloader is among those who can't see it. It also isn't visible to the best buy samsung rep or he'd have flashed it for me. I've also used anycut to manually select mass storage or samsung kies. Neither work. After reading many, many MANY posts on devices not being recognized, it seemed to me the ultimate fix for most of the people with these symptoms was a new cable. I just bought a cable and it's the same. The original does me no good, neither does the new one (which is an insignia from best buy). The maddening thng is, it was working FINE (apart from being unusable...but it was able to be connected to any way you like) just a few days ago. It was the factory reset from within the 4.1.2 OS that seems to have changed something. My idea (which may be entirely off base, since I don't actually know the USB protocols is, the tablet gets plugged in and either is supposed to say "I'm here" or the PC asks "who are you?" After that would be steps on establishing what device it is, etc... I think this initial handshake is what's broken. The PC thinks it's got a usb fan or whatever, the tablet thinks it's connected to a crappy charger.
So I've got a couple questions
1) Do they make charging cables which are distinct from the data transfer cables?
2) Has anyone used one of these insignia cables? Was it fine for you?
3) Is there any other nuclear option I can deploy myself? I don't have much faith in those best buy guys. (On a side note, I was allowed to use the guy's laptop to try and get it to work and if I had had a thumb drive, I'd have all the cool imaging software they have...but it was not to be.)
Does it shows up when connected in recovery or download mode?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
No it doesn't
No matter the computer I'm attaching to, nor whether it's in download, recovery, or fully up, the connection appears to only be seen by one side.

[Completed] HKC P774A with no wifi

Hey, friends, I think this is a hardware problem. But I am looking for a way to restore wifi to this tablet, inexpensively.
wifi just abruptly quit. Won't turn on. Tablet stalls at "turning wifi on" but there's never any wifi now.
First I tried doing the hard reset a couple of ways. Then installing the update from HKC website for 8GB P774A via micro SD card. Still no wifi.
So, I suspect the wifi chip has failed.
I rooted the tablet and decided to play with it. Used VRoot and now have Android 4.1.1. No wifi, haha.
The tablet supports USB OTG. Can I rig something like a RTL8188xxx dongle? I have a RTL8188CU dongle that I connected with the USB OTG cable, but it isn't recognized. I am wondering if I have to set up a cable to add power as shown in YouTube Connecting a Alfa AWUS036H USB adapter to android Samsung galaxy S2 with Pcap capture . If I stick a Bluetooth dongle in there, it does get power but the tablet doesn't recognize it. It can read a card reader, too.
Or, will it have to have a new wifi controller soldered on? Since there is zero wifi, not just a low signal or a connection problem, I think we can rule out the antenna. Is that correct?
Sorry for the questions. I am chemical technician, not electronics or apps developer. This tablet is like-new because it was a Christmas gift that was used about twice. It's still under 1year warranty, technically, but we have no receipts and we can't make a warranty claim. I've USB tethered it to PC to get it onto the Internet. But, you know, a tablet with no wifi is kind of useless except to parents who want to keep their kids off the Internet.
Thanks for any advice.
Hi,
You seem to have tried a lot and had no luck, so it may very well be hardware.
But I suggest you ask for other possible suggestions here,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] Charge from AC while connected to Computer USB

Hi.
I recently got an old computer set up that doesn't have Wi-Fi, or an Ethernet cable running nearby. I was delighted to find that I could instead use my Note 3 to provide it with internet. The problem is that the phone doesn't change nearly as quickly on usb, and it appeared to be discharging when I was using it.
The question is, is it possible to make a micro usb cable with two usb male ends, one that goes into an adapter to charge from the wall, and the other to go into a pc to transfer data?
I looked around and apparently no one shares this twisted fantasy, so I figured someone on here can tell me whether it's at all possible.
Thanks in advance
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. It's probably possible, if you split the cable correctly then theoretically it should work. I can't find anything relating to this on XDA though, but you should be able to find technical schematics for USB cable wiring conventions pretty easily on the interwebz.
Good luck!
Thread closed, thanks.
