Is there a phone app to control my Android HDMI mini PC - Android Stick & Console Computers General

Hi all,
As the title says, I'm after one of the following:
1. the ability to emulate a Android TV/Google TV/Chromecast receiver on my android PC (I've seen this ability on other android mini PCs)
2. an app which I can use to control my Android PC in an intuitive way.
I would prefer 1 as this will allow me to use existing apps out there (Android Remote Control, Google TV) which are intuitive and well made. I've see that this is possible on other Android Mini PCs (via turning on an option in the settings menu)
I'm not interested in those bluetooth/wlan mouse/keyboard apps. I'm more after something that allows swiping, has buttons such as home etc. I'm currently using a bluetooth keyboard/mouse which works well. But I'm after something that'll utilise my phone instead. I have an Android and iPhone.
I found some apps however they have the following limitations:
[Android] Android Remote Control: Requires an Android TV
[iOS] Google TV: Requires a Google TV device
The device I have is the following: Amazon: JUSTOP K10A Quad Core Android 4.4 Kitkat TV Box Mini PC With WIFI Bluetooth RK3188 1.6Ghz x4 CPU 2GB Ram 8GB NAND Network Streamer
I can see there's an app called DroidMote available. Is that the best alternative?
Thanks in advance

I use droidmote for my mini droids, Google playstore is your friend, am well pleased with it! Uses Wi-Fi to connect to your droid so plenty stable and fast

Thanks mate. I got droidmote last night but haven't had a chance to use it. Because I have a very old android which I don't use so I would prefer to know if there's a similar app for iPhone

Not a phone app but if your device is rooted, you can install an app called webkey that lets you remote control it from another computer's Web browser. It will display the entire desktop and let you control it using your mouse and keyboard.

Intelliremote, Windows Media PC and G Tablet

I received an updated version of Intelliremote to control my media PC in the last couple of days. This new version includes the ability for an Android Phone to control the PC including using the keyboard as a "wifi keyboard". This should mean that the G Tablet could be used to control my media PC while sitting on the couch including using it as a full QWERTY keyboard. I haven't gotten this working yet but wanted to make folks smarter than me aware. More value for the G Tablet in my mind, increasing its usefulness.
Check out the Intelliremote Solution (free) called Intelliphone (requires Intelliremote Server which costs $24) :

[Q] Remote Control Xoom with Another Android Device

Is it possible to remote control the Xoom with another Android device like a Desire or similar?
Rather than buying a bluetooth keyboard/mouse or something - I wanted to be able to hook it up to the TV and then remote control it to change Music/TV shows/movies etc.
Thanks
I have just bought my xoom yesterday and was wondering if this was possible. A google took me to your post.
I assumed this would be simple as they are both android play, and there are many android apps for controlling vlc, xbmc etc. so why not the xoom, seen a it does have a hdmi out
Vnc server on xoom then vnc viewer on phone posted a topic about this works like a charm but it can get laggy
sent from my Motorola XOOM
I did see that there is a vnc server. That i could install on the xoom but I don't want a full remote destop, just media controls. Is there even an application for this?

which VNC app was that - and also do you need to be rooted? the couple I glanced at said *ROOT*
I was actually thinking of this last night for a BT mouse (using my evo as a BT mouse on the xoom)
I am also looking for this.
My scenario is this:
I recently bought a cheap headrest holder so that the Xoom can be used as a backseat entertainment center, but it would of course be extra cool if I could use my rooted Desire Z/G2 as a remote from the frontseat to start/stop movies etc, maybe via Bluetooth or something.

that sounds awesome, i cant believe there isn't much out for this. Especially as the xoom has a hdmi out (which works flawlessly btw)

Hey, I've been searching for something similar. We just ditched cable and are using my Transformer as a media center. Would be great to use my DX as a remote to switch YouTube videos, etc. Anything out there? Still looking.
Wiimote
Just a thought. Wiimote Controller gives you a free down and dirty remote control. Not nearly as nice as a Bluetooth keyboard but its extremely cheap and cool for playing games on the big screen as well as controlling YouTube/leanback
There is an app that you can control your xoom with android phone.
DroidMote Server / Client in the android market.
Check the market for an application named Tablet Remote.

this is exactly what you need.
I've been pondering something along these lines. Only I would use the new wifiDirect API. Only downside is both client and server would have to be wifiDirect capable.

Awesome idea. i´m searching for something like that since i have a xoom (and a lg optimus black, also wifiDirect compatible).
why not integrate a fallback to vnc if no wifiDirekt device? direct connection over vnc is simple if one device tethers to the other.

I have a chromecast... I wonder if this will supply all of the chrome cast functionality plus access to all of the other android apps... $129 is nearly 4 Chromecasts for one of these. Well there now exists an android stick with trusted support behind it.
Not that the other providers didn't provide support, dell is a large company with lits of resources.

The dell marketing seems to be focused on the work environment, and this need to connect a mouse and keyboard.
But yeah, I'd like to know too if it does what Chromecast does. Can I watch movies and cast from my smartphone? Can I mirror display?
I have purchased one of these and using it for entertainment and work. You have to create a Dell Client Connect Manager starter account and setup users there first with rights. Right now I have XBMC running on it plus netflix, hulu, citrix receiver for work and few other apps. Google play store showed apps to be not compatible with this device so I installed 1market store where I can download the same apps as the Play Store.

You can probably use Cheapcast (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.maui.cheapcast) in order to achieve what you need it to.
I have it too, with netflix the video sometimes pauses, the subtitles go out of sync and never catch up. It comes with Android 4.1.2 and the apps on play store are very limited, you can install more with 1market but some of them will not work.
Also the mouse and actions have some lag, it is not as responsive as my nexus 5 or 7, when you type sometimes it take almost a second to show the letter you typed.
I'm still looking for a way to change the resolution in my [email protected] monitor it doesnt look as windows, it's a little blur.

Mine shows only 2.9GB storage, there are 8GB advertised, how many GB has yours?
Has anyone had any luck seeing if there Is a way to get around the first setup so I can use it as a normal android Stick without a Cloud Connect Manager account?
For those that have used the Manager account to get a User set up. Does it become useless after the trial is up or is it not needed once an account is made?

Hi,
yes, I just installed another launcher via adb, thats all. google-apps (play) are already installed.
And it looks like you can uninstall the cloud connection manager via settings as well. I did not try it yet.

Dell Cloud Connect (HDMI Android) in Hotels
I have a Dell Cloud Connect, which I was hoping would work (as Dell proclaims it will) as a smallportable device to put my work desktop (via RDP) onto the TV in my hotel room - a potentially extremely attractive feature for those of us who travel a lot.
The first hotel I stayed in (San Jose, CA) had a TV with the requisite HDMI ports. I tried it in both but there seemed to be so much installed with the hotel entertainment systems (OnCmmunications and LodgeNet) that the option to choose the Input was unavailable (or had been made deliberately unavailable); I was not able to change the Input. Has anyone else found this? (One word of warning: I am no TV expert so it is possible I was being dumb.)
On return home the Dongle plugged straight into a projector and an HDMI-equipped Monitor with minimal problems. On the monitor and projector all looks a good except for the hassle of Cloud Connect.
In answer to the question above about whether you have to use the paid CloudConnect, Dell has told me "We do have a Starter version that is available. However only the 14-day pilot (pro) edition is what we send out for piloting purposes. We can however convert your pro edition to starter upon completion of the pilot." I believe the Starter Version is free and supports up to something like 15 or 25 devices.
I just got one of these. I've never owned an Android device before. I was considering rooting it. Does anyone have any advice in that regard?
Dell cs-1a13
2016 Thread Resurrection
It is not necessary to signup for Cloud Client Manager(CCM) to configure device if you select skip button during setup. However signing up for CCM does get you a newer build from Dell. My setup has a resolution issue that make all control you usually see on Android not visible. Which make setup a bit tricky. This issue will continue until resolution is setup correctly. To skip CCM setup move mouse to the bottom of the screen to select skip button that may not be visible. You can address resolution issue by opening the Application drawer, hidden in the top right due to resolution issue. Once the appdrawer is open Select AppUpdater to get all stock applications updated. After update device should now have an application named "ResizeScreen" which should address resolution issue. Not sure if this application only appears in new build downloaded as I did not find the application drawer until after I updated build from Dell.
Ensure to enable "Test Touchscreen support" in Developer options in setting to unblock applications you download that are blocked due to dependency on this setting. I was able to gain root with KingoRoot tethered root method, APK method failed. The KingoRoot SuperSU installed forces portrait resolution on all root privilege request, not good for a TV setup. Supersu I downloaded from Google Appstore works right but it seems KingoRoot SuperSu supersedes it. Devices is a little under powered compared to current Android devices, but It may still make a nice little HTPC. CPU is the same as a Samsung GS2. I am trying to figure out how to get recovery working on this device. I am wondering if I can just flash the same recovery as GS2 or will I need to compile recovery specific to this device? [Q] Any way for Android phone to control Shield Tablet ?

As mentioned in thread title, I'm wondering if it is possible to use Android phone to control Shield Tablet ? Either via bluetooh or WiFi?
I don't game enough to warrant the purchase of a Shield controller
But I would like a method of navigating the tablet when it is attached to my TV via HDMI cable.
The only specific instance of this I can fathom is Plex, where any device can hijack any other device and have it play media as if it were a Chromecast (I say this because they use the Cast icon to signify the possibility).
There's a app called tablet remote on play store which allows you to do something like this, maybe you can try it.

Tried that already...it's okay but no touch control
You can use an2an remote
The only app i know is An2An remote, you can control an android device from another android device, but you have to pay for some features as Mouse, Keyboard and Joystick. But you can use the phone hardware keys. You need root permission for touch feature.
Have you tried droidmote it works pretty well it's a paid app but it has a lot of functions you you install the server on whichever device you want to control then the free app on ur phone

Is it possible to turn my old Android into a TV box?

Hello, first of all.
It's been a long time since I have visited this place, so excuse me please if I missed a similar thread. I have searched for it.
My question is if it this possible to turn my old Motorola XT 720 into an Android TV box (i.e. Chromecast or similar).
I have tried CheapCast app that only crashed when opening YouTube. This phone has a HDMI port and I assumed it can connect through it to my Philips TV, which is not a smart TV, but a regular HD TV.
The only connection I was able to create was the built-in version of media gallery from phone which has the option to display the pictures from phone on TV screen (proving there is a working connection at least).

This should be possible as the device has the ability to use another display. I would recommend using something like Tablet Remote or other similar apps on the Play store so instead of using the device as a chrome cast you can use it as a full media center device connected to your TV. By using one of these apps you would play videos directly through your device instead of "casting" them. This should hopefully work arround the issue of apps like CheapCast crashing.
Hope I could help and good luck
Thank you, Tablet Remote works good between the 2 Android phones. Still working on it.
I am also working on this route, trying to make use of my screen-broken Xperia Z. However apart from using as mediacenter with kodi, it would be nice if I could properly emulate chromecast. I would love to see a nexus android TV Rom being able to drive my phone, is anybody working on that?
