hello my name is Daniele. I want to say that it is my first post / thread and I tried to read all the guides regarding these topics before asking for help!
So : i've bought the mediacom 950s2-3g (5 day ago) and 4 day ago i make a mistake during the upgrade. Unfortunately I use the wrong rom to upgrade (using the 950s2 without 3g stock-rom). After that the external sd card don't work anymore. The table is able to understand if is insert or not but i can't mount it.
For this reason I try to upgrade the right firmware with ADB sideload from stock android recovery. The first problem has been the "ro.build.date.utc" value, it was older in the 3G stock rom thant the other (firmware of 950s2 without 3g) and so i receive the error :
"!less_than_int( 1367979208, getprop("ro.build.date.utc"))"
and i can't use it(with recovery stock).
So i decided to install CWM recovery using the guide : androtab . info/clockworkmod/rockchip/install but i doesn't work for me :crying: (tablet rootet before )! everything seems to go well during the "flash_image recovery recovery.img" but every time that i restart tablet with "adb reboot recovery" or with the combo-key in the tablet the recovery don't start anymore .... (long time to start in the place of recovery menu).
And now what can i try ? Fastboot ? I'm not able to start in mediacom the "bootloader menu" (i'm not sure) i think there's not! When i send to ADB "adb reboot bootloader" the tablet reboot simply.
I trie also CWM installed from the tool "CWM recovery" from google play, the device (it's not in the list but i use a similar samsung galaxy s2 - someone said the works for him with 950s2) reboot in recovery (version 2,4,5,6, before to install CWM manually it works) but from the menu it's not able to mount anything : /system, /cache, /sd ... and so it's not able to read the "update.zip".
May be the worst English of ever, but read this post please ...
thanks!!
Hi everyone... somebody know if may be possible use livesuite with this model ?

yes and no, there is a processes called j-taging (used for xboxs also) that you are able to flash a os onto your device so like flashing a stock rom onto a phone that was hard bricked, dosen't turn on no power no cwm no download mode no bootloader nothing. but it would be hard since your device is a off brand made device so nobody would want to try to fix it.

Not sure where to post this, as I'm quite new here, but here it goes.
Every time I try to flash the CWM in my M2 d2306 I get a screen black with blinking background led at reboot.
Then, I re-flash the kernel and bootbundle, and everything works okay. But then, no CWM.
What must I do in flashtool? I connect via fastboot, then click in Flash kernel with the .img provided in one of the topics here.
Also, I'm sorry for my newbieness... I used to own a WP 7.8 ....

I'm really sorry if I'm mistaken:
Well, maybe I'm just too dumb, but... ain't this just the same as I said...? Let me try this again:
1. I install CMW. Then, when I reboot, it gets the bootloop.
2. I, then, install the custom VIVO firmware for my Xperia M2 d2306 (realized that I just need to flash the kernel again). The phone DOES boot.
3. I can't enter recovery mode anymore
Context:
The real problem, actually, is that after all this work, ignoring that the recovery mode got broken, I try to uninstall some system apps, like the VIVO BS, Google Magazine, Xperia Lounge, etc... But after I close the Titanium (or NoBloat Free) the shortcut of the app is still there. It does not launch, giving an stop error or something, but if I reboot, it gets fully restored.
I thought it had something to do with the superSu not being installe properly, so I tried to boot into CMW to reinstall SuperSU., thus beggined my loop with the flash->bootloop->flash-bootloop... :crying:
You have system as writable? When i update from 4.3 to 4.4 i had root but not system as writable so i can't to uninstal apps. TB was showing to me that is uninstaling apps but after reboot they were still instaled. So if you don't have system as writable you can't install CWM and have bootloop.

Root acces possibly lost.
I guess I let something very important slip...
I was trying to fix system, but couldn't write to sony_ric/enabled, so I've redone the rooting, and just after installing SuperSU, via CWM, I got the following error when I tried to power off:

As you see, it's missing some characters, so I had no idea of what it said. I've googled it a little and soon found that there may be some workaround,
like using TWRP.
Question time:
1) But can we, users of M2, have a stable access to TWRP (didn't found anything saying no, but neither saying yes)?
2) Does it have something to do with my su binaries been messed up?
3) Does it have something to do with the bootloop?
4) Everytime I install the kernel of my custom firmware, I can't access CWM anymore. Can I fix this or is this the default behavior (or both:fingers-crossed?

Well, I guess I found the answer for two of my questions.
A2) Aparently I was using the Google Play Store version, that is known for not being able to update de binaries, and such...
A4) Using the flashtool removes the root somehow. I don't know how I got it working the first time, though, but now none of my apps given root access works. I'll try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/root-d2303-kitkat-18-3-c-0-40-locked-t2929893
update
Just an update.
The method of Engineer91 didn't worked out for me, as OTA fails to update me to 4.4.2
I've tried to flash the kk with flashtool, ticking (removing from the flash) only the kernel (as seen in androidclub, but then I got a bootloop again.
I'm running out of ideas... does anyone knows what can I do to fix the system not being able to be mounted as writable in the KK (Android 4.4.2)?
So I have tried almost all the rooting guides in the internet, from one click apk's, one click pc apps. And had no luck. I have tried flashing CWM using SP flash tool and MTK droid tools but when I flash it, it doesnt change the recovery. Psneuter doesnt work either, it just says "Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)".
.
.
Oh btw Ragnarok Onlineath of heroes doesnt let me play, it detects that my phone is rooted? I run Root Checker but it says it is not rooted. Hmm.
.
.
My device i think is china phone because all the manuals and the words on the charger is Chinese. (also the stock recovery)

Try Kingroot apk.
Unfortunately, I already tried kingroot (also the desktop ver.), tbh, I tried it again and it didnt work. I tried both Version 4.1 and 4.52 apk's
---------------------------------------
That aside, I can now access CWM through MTK Droid tools. But I have no idea what to do next...... Anyone can tell me?
I tried flashing Supersu flashable zip but nothing happenned. I'll try it once more, with another version just to make sure. I'll surely update this thread by then.
Oh wait. Im thinking of doing a factory reset cos I might have done a wrong move causing my device to be hard to root. And Im sorry for being a noob at this >_<
The fastest way through BaiduRoot
BaiduRoot didn't work too. Though I only used the desktop version, cos the apk wont install, it says "parsing error", I redownloaded it too, to be sure its not a broken download.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Btw, I done factory reset now, but nothing really worked. I reflashed flashable zip of supersu, it completes, but no supersu appears, I used ver.2.52... I'm losing hope now. Someone pls..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
supersu asks to update binaries, when I choose CWM/TWRP, nothing happens, it doesnt go to recovery/cwm. when i choose normal recovery, it just closes.

custom recovery, I used MTK droid tools + SP flash tool (readback) to generate a CWM for my device. I cant access it via VolUp key+power though. I can only access via MTK droid tools.

Thank you! I flashed it just now. And it worked!
But one last question. I can't connect on my VPN app, Psiphon. It doesn't ask for permission, there's no "trust this app" popup. Though I can connect through force root Tunnel. Before I flashed, it was working. Thanks again.

I flashed another ROM, I think that ROM has a bug on VPN dialog.

Backup is for recovery purpose. In case it ran into a bootloop and you cannot get out of it. You can recover your saved data. Use TWRP backup.

Installing CWM Recovery + Rooting Samsung Galaxy J7 prime ( SM-G610F/SM-G610M )
Tested & WorkingKnow Issue
SDCARD & EXTSDCARD not mounting in CWM ( Not being able to flash/install ZIPs )
FixI suggest you to Install zip using sideload, here's a step by step guide :
First boot up your phone into CWM recovery
Go to Install zip update package and select Install zip from sideload
Now connect your android device to your computer
Download this and extract it.
Open command prompt in the ADB folder (mfastboot-v2 folder) by right clicking in the empty space of the folder while holding the Shift key.
Copy the Zip file you want to install on your device to the ADB folder, for example Xposed.zip.
Run the following command to sideload zip to your phone : adb sideload <filename.Zip>
Example adb sideload Xposed.zip
Voila! That's how you can flash Zip files
First Part: Installing CWM Recovery
NOTE BEFORE
Please make sure to follow the guide carefully and thoroughly as i won't be responsible for any damages caused to your device and also keep in mind that rooting your phone will automatically void your warranty.
MUST READ
Before you start, please note that this root has only been tested on the SM-G610F and SM-G610M variants of the Samsung Galaxy J7 prime, so kindly check your phone's variant before proceeding.(Check the back of your device)
Required Files:
CWM & ROOT
Samsung USB Driver
ADB USB Driver
How to install CWM Recovery
After downloading the required files make sure your system has an active Samsung USB Driver or you can simply download it from here
Also don't forget to Enable USB Debugging & Unlock OEM, this can be done by going to Developer Options and make sure to have these 2 boxes checked.
Then go to Lockscreen and Security under Settings and enable Unknown Sources.
With these done we are ready to kick-off!
Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1 : Connect your phone to your computer & Allow access to your device when the MTP Connection box pops up
STEP 2 : Now go to the ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder ( you will need to extract the rar file) you just downloaded and run 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat
STEP 3 : Wait for the phone to reboot into Download Mode ( If nothing happens after running 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat then you might need to disconnect and reconnect your USB cable and Allow USB Debugging (Check Always allow from this computer) when it prompts you. With this done, your device should automatically reboot into Downloading Mode.
STEP 4 : In Downloading Mode Run Odinv3.10.7.exe (Found in ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder) and click on AP and open
SM-G610_cwm.tar from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder
After this go to Options in Odinv3.10.7.exe and uncheck both Auto Reboot & F Reset Time and finally click on start to execute the installation of CWM recovery. Wait for it to finish (When it says 'PASS!') and after that press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Home Button together ( To get out of download Mode ) and when you see the phone gets rebooted press and hold Volume Up, Power button and Home button to boot into CWM Recovery
STEP 5 : Enjoy! You now have CWM recovery installed
Second Part: Installing SuperSU
MUST READ
Use Volume buttons and power button in CWM Recovery to navigate through and select the different options.
How to Root
STEP 1 : In CWM Recovery, go to install zip package and then select install zip from sideload.
At this point you will have to connect your device to your computer and once done run ROOT.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and wait for it to finish.
STEP 2 : Now run 3-Reboot.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and you should see your phone get rebooted.
STEP 3 : Enjoy! You have just rooted your phone!
If you want to flash the stock recovery just repeat the steps for installing CWM but select SM-G610F_stock_recovery.tar or
SM-G610M_stock_recovery.tar instead of SM-G610_cwm.tar
P.S You now have a voided warranty
Cheers!
