[Q] Help returning to stock - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So I want to try to return to stock for potential warranty reasons. There are lots of guides around the web about this, but it seems that all of them require S-OFF. I'm not currently S-OFF (due to previous attempt at returning to stock for same reason). Sunshine currently does not list the HTC One M8 on Verizon running Lollipop or later as a compatible device (though the app did indicate that it should work when I downloaded it to test it). Here's some information about my device:
Bootloader unlocked
Current ROM is ViperOne M8 4.3
Current recovery is TWRP 2.8.6.0
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.12.20.1211
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 4.17.605.5
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
(bootloader) serialno:mod edit

(bootloader) platform: hTCBmsm8974
(bootloader) modelid: 0P6B20000
(bootloader) cidnum: 11111111
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: f2489bd1
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
Is there a guide I missed that can tell me how to revert totally to stock with S-ON? Or would I hypothetically have to wait for Sunshine to catch up (and pay $25, which I don't have right now)?

Check out this post. Just use the RUU that matches your current version (you can't downgrade) and you should be good to go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...zw-m8-master-ruu-firmware-collection-t2946473

Looks like it will work awesome, thanks so much!

If you have troubles, I would recommend sending Dottat a PM... he helped me with a warranty return and he's the one that's been releasing the RUUs. VERY helpful and good dude!

[Q] Can't find a RUU that matches my hboot/radio

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to get back on stock (S4), but I can't find any RUU that matches my hboot and radio.
this is the result of fastboot getvar all:
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 2.15.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.11.50.05.28
(bootloader) version-cpld: None

(bootloader) product: vle
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8960
(bootloader) modelid: PJ4010000

(bootloader) battery-status: good

(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic

(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-64bedd38
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
I tried several S4 RUUs, european ones gave me error 131, Vodafone UK gave error 155 (the cellphone was bought in Italy).
What I did before executing the RUU exe(s) was just locking the bootloader. I think that probably installing ROMs in the time (the cellphone belongs to a friend of mine, so I don't know what was installed before) may have somewhat changed hboot (and/or radio) version, and now I can't find a RUU matching mine. Now i can only access the bootloader (I think the previous custom recovery is gone). I managed to access recovery by unlocking again the bootloader, but I can't mount any partition from the recovery (which is the main problem that lead me to decide to get back to stock.
What are my chances to return to HTC stock?
I have the same problem
Hi mate, I'm italian too. I suggest you to get S-Off (it's easy enough now with the brand new tools), change cid with fastboot command to HTC__001 and flash latest JB 4.1 european RUU. It's pretty easy

Can't find correct HTC One m7ul RUU.exe HELP

Hello, I'm located in Ontario Canada, with Telus and I need to return my rooted HTC One m7 back to HTC (through Telus) for warranty repairs due to a faulty top speaker and phone mic.
Every RUU.exe I try fails with "error 158" and I've tryed even with S-OFF and a whole bunch of other crap....
Basically here's my info:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.56.0000

If anyone can grab me the correct RUU.exe I would even pay you via PayPal.
I'm desperate as my warranty ends April 28th 2014
Or just get me back to stock where I can OTA update and it would be "LOCKED" "S-ON" and no "Security Warning"/"TAMPERED" in the boot-loader.
Currently running Android Revolution HD Version 62.0 <-- love by the way.
Currently have "TAMPERED" "UNLOCKED" "S-ON"

If you want a fast solution install Teamviewer and i'll fix it.
If you want it on your own:
-flash stock recovery contained in the RUU before installing RUU
-relock bootloader
-uninstall HTC Sync and all other software affecting USB connection, Samsung KIES and so on
-check if device is shown up in device manager correctly
-run RUU as admin
-close running adb instances
-...
It will work if you do right as its the 100% matching RUU for your device/firmware

HTC Sensation Pyramid -- Boot Loop -- S-On -- Replaced Board

Hi Guyz,
I am really stuck and I have tried every possible solution online but unable to solve it. I have HTC Sensation Pyramid stuck in boot loop. Although I am able to boot into bootloader but unable to do anything else. Its board was replaced so default HTC Dev Unlock don't work. Every other solution require to boot into the ROM and enable debugging for ADB like JuopunutBear S-OFF and Rumrunner.

According your current device status your device should have been S-OFFed before.
As I can see you have SuperCID and your hboot version is higher than it should be as long as you probably had installed a European RUU and it should have an earlier version of hboot.
So the only solution for you will be to flash an official pyramid RUU for any carrier you like with version-main 1.45.401.3 or greater.
You can find Pyramid RUU's here.
I would sugest you to install the lattest RUU for the carrier of your choice. If you want a European RUU you can download a 3.33 fireware and S-OFF your device.

Rumrunner S-OFF [NO NEED HTCDEV UNLOCK/NO WIRE TRICK]

Hi Gatosbil,
Thank you so soo much for the reply and to be honest, after trying everything on net, I put my phone in my "history box" lol... but you gave me hope that I might resurrect it back to life. Well, it does came back to life!! RUU 1.45.401.3 gave me Signature Error so I tried downloading and install 3.33.401.6 with success. And its alive now!!! Thanks to you
Now the S-OFF part, Juopunutbear require Ubuntu and I had a very bad experience with that as by running windows 10 and ubuntu on same system, my hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of data. Yes Live CD might work, but my laptop is 2 years old and I haven't used DVD-Rom for a long time and its not reading data from any CD or DVD. And Rumrunner website is giving Database error so I can not download anything from there until they fix the website. I will keep checking and as soon as its back, I will try Rumrunner to S-OFF and will let you know how it goes.

Looking for correct RUU for vodafone

I inadvertently posted this on the wrong forum. Just re-posting this in the correct location and adding some notes.
Hi all,
I started down a slippery slope which was what I hoped was an easy task of upgrading a relative's android phone to a later version into a several day ordeal with a broken phone.
I have a Vodafone from germany HTC One S. I wanted to upgrade to android 4.3 which seems to require a firmware update, but I'm having a very hard time finding the correct version of the RUL to apply.
Can someone help me if you happen to have that wonderful file laying around.

I would really really appreciate it if anyone had the correct RUU or could point me in the right direction.
Thanks so much.
The reason my bootloader is locked is because from what I read it needed to be locked in order to perform a firmware update. If that's not the case I can easily unlock it again.
Older thread for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/help/looking-correct-ruu-vodafone-t3440997
Did the RUU u got from "alray" work? (cant post the androidfilehost link, but the file name is PJ40IMG_Ville_U_JB_45_S_Vodafone_UK_3.16.161.10_Radio_1.15.50.05.29_10.30.50.08L_release_314501_signed.zip)
Edit:
OH MY GOD... it works, after 20 hours of serching in this Forum i found you and your Link. Now i have a working OS for the first time. I got this Phone without OS,S-on and twrp was not working properly (unable to mount SD-card) Now I have a Base and I can proceed my Plans, unlock bootloader again, get SuperCID, S-off, a recovery and a custom ROM with root. Thank you so much!!

Setting s-off

Sorry if I am posting this in the incorrect forum. This is my first posting,
Anyway, I have a T-Mobile HTC One S ville and have been trying to set s-off so I can install the Lineage ROM. I rooted and unlocked the phone and installed the CM-12.1 Rom without any problems. Unfortunately, when I tried to run the Sunshine app, I discovered (too late) that the phone must be running its stock rom or near-stock rom. After many attempts to find a stock rom, I successfully installed MaximusHD 10.0.0, but am unable to install the firmware, so I am unable to obtain a wifi connection due to authentication problems. I then tethered the phone to my laptop and was able to gain internet access, and the Sunshine app ran successfully for the first set of tests. When Sunshine attempted to run the next set of tests, it disconnected the tether. So I am stuck on how to proceed.

You're in luck my friend, I'm in the same boat as you trying to get this thing running good to play some old Android games.

Let me know if you get S-Off, there seems to be carrier resrictions on our TMO devices. I've thought about extracting the ROM.zip of a Global RUU, and flashing it through fastboot manually, but don't want to brick my phone haha.
