[Q] Questions regarding custom ROMs on TF300TL, *without* 3G/LTE - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, to put it short and clean, 3 questions:
1) Does the TF300TL have any sort of bootloader lock that prevents it from getting flashed in the same way as a regular TF300T?
2) Do the TF300T custom ROMs work for TL? Especially CM12 and KatKiss.
I've examined the CM12 updater-script and it seems it only includes TF300T out of the box. I don't know what would happen if I remove the assert and install it on the TL - your answer.
Please note that I *DON'T* need 3G/LTE - I just want it to work like a regular TF300T with no function compromise in anything other than 3G/LTE, and that's it. It looks like there are no "compatibility pack" for any of the current ROMs for TF300TL - but yeah I don't really care as long as the other features work.
3) If yes to 2), if I subsequently return to stock, will 3G/LTE work again?
I saw a great local deal with the TL and am depending on your answer to decide whether I grab the TL or not. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, I have a TF300TL languishing away as well.

uk bought xoom - need help

hi guys,
i just bought a xoom in the uk as an impulse buy. usually i do a lot of reading on things like this so i dont usually need help when it comes to rooting, unlocking bootloader etc.
This has probably been asked but i tried searching and i just got more confused. I would like to know if the uk xoom (wifi only) can be rooted and if i can unlock the bootloader. i would like to install a jellybean rom if that is possible but i couldnt really find i guide on this particular version.
If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
Yes and Yes is the simple answer......
Best thing is to have a search on here and maybe Google and you should find some guides on how to do it.... The guide I followed (but don't remember where I found it) wasn't specifically written for a UK Xoom, but worked absolutely fine.....
The UK Xoom can be easily unlocked via ADB when connected to your PC.....
Unlocking the Bootloader will completely wipe the device though so ensure you have copied anything you want from the Xoom first....
Plenty of ROM choices - I am currently using EOS 3 (Nightly 155) which is Jellybean 4.1.2 but will jump over to EOS 4 on Jellybean 4.2 in due course....

TF700KL rooted - How about a custom rom?

I managed to get my Asus TF700KL rooted using Framaroot (Gandalph exploit) - With that done, I'd love to use a custom ROM as the stock ROM feels extremely slow...
Does anyone know of a ROM that is compatible with the Snapdragons S4 processor the is in the TF700KL?
I'm also aware that the tablet would need to be unlocked... Guess I'll have to fight Asus to get it unlocked, as I haven't been able to find a tool for that (There's on for the other TF700's, but not for the KL one... and from what I've heard, it won't work on mine...)
But hey, got root! That's a first step... Though a custom ROM would be nice...
Hey,
that's good news. Now what we need is a custom rom!!
My Tf700KL visited Asus repair service twice. It came back without the Vodafone ROM version(was bought at Vodafone) and is working a lot better now. However, it still is slow.
I'll hook on to this thread...
My Transformer is baught at Telia in Denmark, branded to Vodafone (don't know why) and I would like du debrand it or better get a custom ROM on it.
Got the same problems, unlocking isn't possible with tools from Asus website (running ICS 4.1. and according to Asus customer service won't be upgraded to 4.2) and I can't find a suitable CM.
Any help would be appreciated
Great news - today Asus made an official unlock utility for TF700KL

[Q] Questions about rooting/unlocking TF700

Hi all,
I'm new to XDA, and somewhat new to android. I have a long history of jailbreaking iDevices, so this whole concept isn't too foreign to me. I have an Asus Transformer TF700T, and I get speed hiccups way too often, and even after "repair," it still doesn't work 100%, so I decided to root and/or unlock it to run a new ROM.
Question 1: I'm aware that unlocking it will void the Asus 1 year warranty, however, I purchased a squaretrade warranty as well, and would like to know if it voids ST's warranty, and/or, will they not repair it, even for non-OS problems like physical damage?
Question 2: Once I unlock the device, I know I won't be allowed to receive OTAs, but will I still be able to update the Android firmware by downloading it on my PC and moving it onto the device? Or will I be stuck on the same firmware 'till I wipe my device or something?
Thanks

AFAIK Squaretrade does not care if you unlocked or rooted your device, they will repair/replace it regardless.
If you unlock, why would you want to run the stock rom and rely on Asus updates? Unlocking or rooting by itself will not make your tablet run any better on stock software. The benefit of unlocking is that you can run a custom rom like CROMi-X on this tablet and you won't be looking back ever!
CROMi-X unlocks the potential of this tablet and is better supported than any stock rom!
Full disclosure: Yes, I am a hopeless fanboy of CROMi-X
There are also other custom roms for this tablet like CyanogenMod or Paranoid, but IMO CROMi-X is the most stable and best supported rom for this device. Look for the thread in the Development section.
Since I own the TF700 there have been - what? Three updates to the stock rom?
CROMI and it's JB 4.2.1 successor CROMi-X have been updated - jeez, I lost count - at least 10 times??? And it gets better each time!

It made me giggle and laugh out loud each time trying a new task - so ridiciously much better it was...

First Root/Unlocking
Hello xda'ers, I am new to this topic and would like to migrate from stock to cromi-X. I'm currently on JB 4.2.1 and build 10.6.1.14.10. I'm also aware that going ahead with this will void my warranty as well as disable accessibility to OTAs.
Thanks

correct, cromi (along with the other roms here) are better than any Asus OTA will be Asus publish the firmware on their site anyway which is very easy to flash from a custom recovery.

[Q] TF300TL developer help?

I have recently been looking into upgrading the Android on my ASUS TF300TL. I have a US SKU TF300TL, however I flashed the WW SKU to upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2.1. It works alright, but because the specs are a little limited o the system, I wanted to look for a leaner, faster ROM. Enter my search. All I find on the developmental forums are TF300T ROMs. I also find many people asking a similar question to mine: why not one for the TF300TL/TG. And whenever anyone asks about the TG/TL ROM, everyone just says "ASUS stopped support so it can't be done." Obviously, though it can, since ASUS also stopped factory support for the TF300T at 4.2.1, yet there are 4.4 ROMs out there.
The other part of the argument is the TF300T ROMs will work, but you lose cellular connectivity. I purchased the TL version specifically for the AT&T support. I have my tablet mounted in my patrol car and use it every day while patrolling my county.
So what to do? What I (think) I know is there are two parts to controlling the radio: the baseband and the RIL (radio interface layer). As I understand it, The baseband is the firmware for the radio modem. It is the instructions for the function on the network per se. Now the RIL is the translator between the OS and the modem. The OS wants to access the cellular network for internet or updates, but doesn't know how to make the modem work, so the RIL translates and gives the instructions in a form the modem understands. I know this is gross over simplification, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
So the issue is making the baseband and RIL information carry over to the newer OS. I found the RIL (I think) information in the source code Kernel for the last stock ASUS 4.2.1 upgrade for the TF300TL. I have attached this entire directory. So my question is, is there a DEV who can help me find the baseband information on the tablet? And if so, how can we include this information in a ROM for the TF300TL or TG?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Carl
Bueller...? Bueller...?
So I was thinking about this. Maybe instead of working from the ground up, there is a better solution. The Tf300T Rome work on the TL/TG versions. What if someone could patch the necessary RIL/Baseband information into a patch for an existing ROM? Could this be done?
Interesting
BUMP for huge interest
I know ASUS is coming out with the TF303 series. This will probably get left behind, but I see so much development on otger devices. I know this device is kind of niche because not everyone needs/wants LTE, however any help would be awesome. If needs be, I would sendmy tablet, to the right developer, to assist with the process. TIA

TF300TG - new ROM?

Hi guys!
I have 2 x TF300TG tablets with original ASUS Android 4.1.1 installed. As far as I know they are unlocked (3G) and can take any operator (I've only used one operator since I bought them though).
Is there a newer ROM available which meets the following requirements:
Stable
3G works
Transformer docking option works
If so, which is the recommended ROM to go for and what do I need to make it happen?
Thanks!
There are no roms for the 3G model at all, never were
