hi guys,
i just bought a xoom in the uk as an impulse buy. usually i do a lot of reading on things like this so i dont usually need help when it comes to rooting, unlocking bootloader etc.
This has probably been asked but i tried searching and i just got more confused. I would like to know if the uk xoom (wifi only) can be rooted and if i can unlock the bootloader. i would like to install a jellybean rom if that is possible but i couldnt really find i guide on this particular version.
If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.

Yes and Yes is the simple answer......
Best thing is to have a search on here and maybe Google and you should find some guides on how to do it.... The guide I followed (but don't remember where I found it) wasn't specifically written for a UK Xoom, but worked absolutely fine.....
The UK Xoom can be easily unlocked via ADB when connected to your PC.....
Unlocking the Bootloader will completely wipe the device though so ensure you have copied anything you want from the Xoom first....
Plenty of ROM choices - I am currently using EOS 3 (Nightly 155) which is Jellybean 4.1.2 but will jump over to EOS 4 on Jellybean 4.2 in due course....

Hi everyone, I bought a xoom wifi only 3.0.1 (Build H.6.2-24 for Retail Other International -- & Model number MZ604), & I'm familiar with all the rooting stuffs & all the things since I got a motorola milestone.
I want to update my xoom to 3.1 & root it, first I have a question about the update for 3.1 toalso use the SD, is it the official update?(cause I saw many threads & now I'm really confused if it's official or developers did the great job...
second: I've read many places that first I have to unlock, then root it...something like this, is the bootloader locked like motorola milestone?
& at last I really appreciate in advance if someone can help me or give me a link in XDA, so I can simply follow the steps & do what I need to do, I've read all the threads & now I'm soo confused because many of them wrote that the steps they did MAY harm UK wifi only xoom, are those threads including my wifi only xoom to not to do?
OK, follow this guide to unlock, flash the US images, update to 3.1, root and install the Tiamat kernel. This will give you everything you want including SD access.

thnx first of all, & I have one more question: what's really the difference between the US wifi only & UK wifi inly?? I've read things but still no exact answer...
& what's wrong with relocking? (don't wanna do, just curious)

Firmware is different between US and Europe. If you try to relock, you will brick your Xoom.

Hi, been reading here for ages, but n00b videos and such have stopped me joining, but now I feel confident enough to move up to a custom ROM with instructions I'm able to follow.
I have a Galaxy S currently running JVQ Europe, although I'm in Australia.
I'd like to use MilkyS MOD but have a question or two first.
Will this go on JVQ?
Lagfix: Am I right in assuming that if I haven't added this, it's not there?
You talk of two versions, Odin and CWN, would one be easier for me than the other?
Please be patient with an old man. I did manage to root this phone when I upgraded 2.2 with 2.3.4 JVP, then JVQ, and I managed to get them on OK, I also changed the region code to Europe ..... but that's the extent of my "knowledge".
As far as I know, although I rooted JVP, I haven't rooted JVQ, so my phone isn't rooted, does this mod root, or need rooting first?

However, I dont know what model my xoom is, The box does not really help. And the model number in settings just shows "xoom"
The xoom was bought brand new from America (Im in Australia) and it is the WIFI only version
Also i was wondering the easiest way to root the device?

The Wifi only is MZ604 or sometimes referred to as Wingray. Here is a link to rooting:

the way it seems, The Xoom is much harder to root & install custom roms on than the Optimus 3d, SGS and the SGS2

there is a "[PROJECT]Bootloader Unlock" in "Atrix 2 Android Development" its was released on 2nd nov 2011 means at that time atrix 2 was on
gingerbread ,as i have updated it to ics it am not sure about "[PROJECT]Bootloader Unlock"
second reason for not been sure about "[PROJECT]Bootloader Unlock" is , when this unlocker was released there was atrix 2with at&t and in india its is releaded without at&t.so i m confused whether it will work or not
as motorola is not providing any more update for atrix 2(at least in india) ,now i am in very much need for bootloader unlocker

There's no bootloader unlock for no one.
Why do you want to unlock your bootloader if there's no room that requires other kernel?
^+1. And there is no need for the bootloader to be unlocked to flash the roms in our dev section.! Just follow the instructions there!

First, forget about unlocking the bootloader. We don't need to unlock it to install the roms that we have in the developers sections.
Secondly, we have stable ics, and now, finally, we have a stable Jellybean for international phones.
But, i'm going to respond your questions in order.
1: The info that are you reading, is ooooold. If you want stable ICS, check this:

Those are for international Atrix 2. It means, that ones they were not bought in AT&T.
And, if you have international atrix 2, you can choose jellybean, too

^^+1 what he said, but I would like to add, do yourself a huge favor and read EVERYTHING that pertains to your phones model BEFORE trying anything. Then read it all again. Then when you think you understand, read it again. You will see that most all of your questions have been previously answered, and you will gain knowledge in the process. I recently picked up a TF300TL off my local craigslist for $200.00. I've searched here as well as Google a lot and have not been able to come up with anything from someone who has installed Jellybean on a US TF300TL. Is there any custom rom that will work? How about root? I've found several threads but they all have warnings about it being untested on the TF300TL.
I'd just like to get Jellybean on here and am looking for some type of guide or walkthrough that could help me minimize the risk of bricking it, especially since it appears that the TF series has some specific steps that are required when updating.
