TWRP RECOVERY - 2.8.5.0 - XOLO Q3000 with OTG support
Procedure to follow
download the recovery.
then flash recovery using sptools /flashify /mobileuncle tool using these guides.
OR
if ur using any custom recovery from this thread then
get a flashable recovery which can be flashed from current recovery.
Just reboot to recovery for confirmation.
This is working recovery - tested by me.
flashed JB & KK rom.
Backup and restore without any issues.
OTG is also working properly - FAT/FAT32 formatted USB drives only.
As u all know our device has 6mb recovery partition size.
So while porting i need to trim the actual recovery.
U will not be able to partition ur sd card using this recovery.
Also u wont be able to root using this recovery.
For above issues we have better solutions.
Try and report.
For official change logs, see here:
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
Bugs:-
After mounting usb otg in recovery, to get back to the previous screen click the back key of the device.
Backup is stored in new folder storage/TWRP/Backups/Q3000/ date and name of rom
So if u want backups to be restored from previous versions of TWRP recovery just move the backup folders in above folder.
Use recovery with theme always - images are reduced in size so it may give graphical glitch when u use plain recovery.
Credits:-
@carliv sir for base recovery.
@z31s1g for TWRP themes.

I was able to successfully restore my system 3 times till now without error.
No one else tried yet or no problems for them. (already more than 60 downloads still no reply)
(i am not having any system partition done - if u have any partition altered then it may cause this error)
Unable to create full backup as it left data in system and data partition, backup size is just 18 mb and created within 8 second....
@aaayush_singh @sachin.r.fulzele
I will recheck when i get the device.
Please use TWRP 2.8.4.0 rev 2.
Sorry for inconvenience caused.
@avi3230 I had successfully flashed this recovery and didn't face any error during backup/restore of the system rom.
Every thing went fine except when i try to flash a new rom it gives me some symlink error which then i replaced this recovery with Philz touch and am able to successfully flash all the roms. Thanks for your great contribution...

Hi sachin .. 2.6GB is the backup size of my rom(Legend v11)
Is it possible to use Aroma Filemanager without inserting external SD Card?
I had a problem in backing up once. The system backup size was only 29 kb. When I disabled screen timeout, it backed up full system & data partitions.

Today I was trying to back everything up because I needed to do a clean install. I used to have CMW, and it would work perfectly. Few days ago I switch to TWRP because of its friendly UI. Everytime I try to make a backup, I get this "Failed to make backup folder". When I go to the mount tab, or explorer, it shows my sd card and the folder named TWRP...is there any solution to this? Or should I switch back to cmw?
Thanks

If you're using the version of TWRP modified to work with SELinux (needed for KitKat 4.4.x ROMs) you may need to shorten the name of the target file before starting the backup.

Thanks a lot!! that fixed my problem. One more question: TWRP backups dont have the boot.img file in their folders. I read that it automatically flashes the boot.img when Im restoring the backup. Will it still flash it even though Im s-on?
Thanks

TWRP should backup your /boot partition to the boot.emmc.win file. As far as I know it should also be able to restore this, even if you are S-On. However, I am not positive about that
how to copy TWRP nandroid backup to device?
I need to restore and I don't know how to copy from my hdd to the phone.
The phone is not booting but I can get to twrp recovery.
Latest TWRP has MTP mode.
but it doesn't allow me to copy one of the backup files which is: data.ext4.win000 and it's 1.5GB
You'll need to give us more information.
Why did it fail? Why did your phone stop booting?
1. flashed bigxie_hammerhead_LRX21O-signed.zip
2. flashed CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5
3. booted fine but still had apps like Ti backup & TWRP not working due to root permissions
4. Went to recovery and performed Fix permission.
5. stuck in boot loop

I have had the same problem with my motox 14 the way I found around it was to copy the file to a different fold and use twrp file explore to move it to the back up folder. That has worked for me and a few others try it out it will work.
how can you copy using twrp while in recovery? are you able to access your PC from recovery?

You'll need to factory reset then reflash the ROM
Fix permissions was not required here. You need titanium beta from his twitter feed.
ok i got the phone working and lost my data but I have it backed on PC.
I just see that 10GB is used but when I browse the phone using file explorer, the device is empty.... what??
Is it a known issue?
when the phone is connected to PC I see that 10GB is used but when I i browse the device it shows as empty
No. Do a full flash of userdata.img

What would I achieve by flashing it?

Well the answer in the 100 other threads about space say that you must wipe data and cache.
Root should be fine, but as already mentioned, not with official titanium release.
I already did a wipe data and cache. So I don't understand why I still get this but I'll try again.
The Ti Backup link in the twitter feed is no longer valid, but for example, ES file explorer and clean master and also TWRP app are not performing as if they are rooted.
I'll try to re-install CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5

ES doesn't work properly, correct. Not all apps have been updated to work with L yet either.
L is much more secure than KK. There are ways to root.
1) chain fire - makes small change in RAMdisk that allows sudaemon to work at boot
2)flash a permissive kernel - this lowers protection within selinux.
More apps work with the 2nd method, but still not all.
New titanium coming to play soon.

[CUSTOM KK ROM] DEODEXED S005 VERSION
Final official kitkat full version used as base.
S005 - 28-10-2014 version.
Fully deodexed - apk and jar.
Pre rooted.
Busybox installed
Viper4 android integrated- no need to install.
ES file manager added.
Xposed framework added - not activated.
All original apps included as in stock rom.
Full init.d support at boot.
-:How to Flash:-
Note:
I Will Not Be Responsible For Any Brick or Any Problem.....So Flash At Your Own Risk. This ROM only flashes System & Data partitions and DOES NOT change anything else so chances of brick are 0 but still, please keep CWM Backup ready which will be used if you find issues in the ROM so that you can revert back to normal working status.
Use custom KK recovery from here.
I prefer [CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch 6.57.9 - cwm 6.0.5.1.
(Internal sd-card refereed as sdcard00, external as sdcard01)
Download rom zip file.
Put into sd card.
Flash the desired recovery.
Boot into recovery.
BACKUP CURRENT ROM
Wipe for flash of new rom.
Or wipe data/system/delvic cache/cache.
Select Install From SD (Internal or External)
Select the zip file and Select YES
Reboot.
THINGS TOBE NOTED
First boot takes time 3-5 mins so be patient.

Hello Avi Sir,
I'm using xolo's stock update from the site....... yes it gives error.
Could you share some light on the moving back to stock update from Xolo's final update?
Though, the custom roms by yourself are way ahead of the stock ones, but out of curiosity how to revert back if required?

Only issue I found that corporate email client is missing and managed with 3rd party app. Got error with Google Play Music which I removed as I don't use it.. Other than that every thing is fine .. thanks for this ROM

i'm on this rom now. i'd like to stay on it - after i get some important issues resolved.
backups using the script does not work. as you'll see, i've tried 7 storage options.
copying to usb otg using the included root explorer and es file explorer does not work.
edit: since you've been successful in deodexing stock kk rom, can you release a S005 version without any tweaks at all?
no pre-root/busybox/init.d/build.prop tweaks etc. this is so everything works as in a newly bought phone. thanks.
@m0han sir,
Sir As i already gave u the results here when i used ur script in this rom.
The error u getting its cause of root permissions only.
the file system is read only so this app doesn't have root permission to write.
Please check root permissions using any root checker app.
I will try to make that stock untouched version - it will take 5 mins to make but much time to upload.
we can use this stock kk as base and delete some files and u can get that version.

Thank you sir for testing this script.
@m0han It clearly shows that this script is someway dependent on CWM based recovery as it worked on philz and CTR3.0.
Okay, so I am rooted on stock with ElementalX and philz touch recovery. I typically alternate between elementalX and stock kernel. About 2 weeks ago whenever I make a backup it backups fine, however when I go to my clockworkmod folder via root explorer it is not there. However Philz touch/CWM sees the backup folder and can restore and backup to it. I have wiped everything, I have flashed back to stock with the firmware and fastboot, where it completely wipes everything with a fresh install. Same results. I am out of ideas. If I try to copy over a clockworkmod folder with backups I have on my PC or even try to create a clockworkmod folder it gives me an error that its unable to create this folder and or copy it from my PC to my Nexus 5.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is happening? I even tried philz touch to make backups as if they were made in TWRP, so it creates a TWRP folder, but that does not do anything either. Any help would be appreciated as I am out of ideas.

CWM is outdated.
"Internal Storage" on the Nexus 5 is /data/media/0 (which is what /sdcard is also symlinked to)
CWM uses the outdated legacy location of /data/media/clockworkmod (note the lack of /0)
Therefore you cannot see CWM backups if you look in the internal storage while booted into Android.
Development on Philz Touch has also come to an end - you should use TWRP.

Try deleting the TWRP folder using TWRP itself, reboot the recovery, change a setting or two then make a backup again.
Also make sure you're using a newer version of TWRP if you aren't already.

If recovery can see it in /data/media/0.but android cant, it must mean storage isn't aligned correctly. Root cause? Unknown. Workaround has to be restorecon though

Edit - Flashed toe factory image again and each time I run the flash factory image I get this at the end of each flash, see attached
Found this, its the same issue I am having:

Now after flashing a factory image phone just hangs, bootanimation goes on forever and ever, so for now I have no working Nexus 5. Any ideas?
Edit - Flashed TWRP and used MTP mode, internal data is completely blank, no android folder, etc... just empty...
Update, flashed factory image for 4.4.4 and that flashed without errors, going to let it boot up and do its thing. Once done I will try to flash 5.0.1 again.. will report back.
Update - Guess I am stuck for now on 4.4.4. Flashing 5.0 or 5.0.1 fails on userdata as previous screenshot.

Out of curiosity, how much ram do you have on your pc?
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
I am running on 8gb ram
I think I may have resolved the issue, I factory flashed 4.4.4, rebooted, then flashed a recovery, rebooted, then copied over a nandroid backup from end of last month, and restored from that back to 5.0.1. All seems well now, I did not wipe anything when doing the restore. Everything seems to be working now.. will report back if I see any other issues. Thank you to all for your assistance.

I am back with the same issue. Flashing 4.4.4 image flashes okay, however any attempt at flashing 5.0 or 5.0.1 causes an error just as its wiping userdata. Only way around is to flash 4.4.4 and then restore with a nandroid, which I keep plenty of those laying around.
Mind if I ask what the tutorial is for restorecon? Thank you.

It is a bit difficult to download from this site but there are several tutorials on the internet that show you how to download without having to create an account and also how to bypass the speed limit. What worked most for me was downloading a script for tampermonkey.
To flash this ROM you need to have your bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery.
Its simple to flash it just download the rom and put in a sdcard (more safe because sometimes the recovery don't show the internal memory) or the internal memory of the device.
Reboot to the recovery and perform a wipe just wipe the systen, data, cache and dalvik cache nothing more.
Be carefull and always have an backup saved before doing everything.
After the wipe, go to flash and select the location of the zip file then select it and chose confirm.
After this the rom will be istalled in your device and you can reboot to the MIUI.
