Right, I know the method of using AdBlock Plus and proxy for WIFI and APN, but I cant get it to work; I can still see ads everywhere. I was wondering if there is any other way to block ads without having to root my S6.
I use the app from this page:
http://www.zenz-solutions.de/personalhttpproxy/
And under advanced configuration:
filterAutoUpdateURL = http://hosts-file.net/download/hosts.txt?
reloadIntervalDays = 7
Works without root, on WiFi and mobile network
Thx i will give it a try.
Now ive downloaded it how do i connect tru it?
This worked for me

You just need to tick enable adblocking and autostart.
Oh and i think you'll have to add the url and port (url:localhost port:2020) in proxy settings of your wifi (long press WiFi connection -> manual Proxy) and mobile connection (Settings -> Mobile Connection -> APNs ->Proxy)... Completely forgot about it ..
But if you have set it up once it will work automatically and it will automatically refresh the "hostsfile" once a week
gesendet von meinem Galaxy S6
Now ive enabled it for mobile network but i still cant get it to work
Under advanced configuration it should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And did you download the filter ?
If not you have to press "Reload Filter". Then it will start downloading.
When its finished you can press restart and it should work.

I'm not have any of these problems, but I'm running stock ROM. The network or your ROM is gimping your functions.
AdBlock Plus drains my battery like crazy. I'm testing out AdGuard for now (no need to change proxy or anything)... but if this also drains my battery, how's the battery-friendliness on the PersonalHttpProxy?

What is the Android Version? I think I also had this problem once with Android 4.1. I think at the end I selected "Create New" in the settings section of the APN dialog and entered all the values from the original plus the proxy ...

That will be nice. But I think we would like to see the source code so the experts (not me) can verify that nothing nasty is being done under the hood.
We are lucky (thanks to several xda members) to still have root and I'm not willing to risk it for an autorotate app.

I posted the code in another thread on how to rotate the screen programatically. I'm not sure if that's what he is doing though. If you guys want, I can write up an app to do it as well as distribute the source.
Well i think that settles it,
I wont be using this as we have no way of telling what its doing in the background!!!
It might have something dodgy in.
The Author needs to understand that some people will be thinking the same, but i suppose its his/her choice not to show the code.

How the heck do you create new APN settings without the APN menu? The issue right now is when you select "EDIT" the APN Settings menu goes away.

If you were hacked apn in lollipop, Apn setting carried over during the upgrade, but this will only last until the next profile update, which sprint sometime force push

This is what I see after the update. The APN settings under "mobile settings" is grayed out and can't be edited.
I guess root is the only way now.
Has anyone who was not using hacked apn in lollipop tried this trick from s6/s7 successfully with the n5 yet?

The pie update for our beloved Mi A1 was released one day after the beta version did. Currently the places where we can get the OTA update are : Netherlands and also Austria (As far as i know) if you are in one of these countries try to update it without making any of these steps !
Note : This isn't the beta update is the official OTA Pie update !
Steps:
1. Remove your SIM card
2. Go to settings and clear : Google App, Google Framework, Google Play Services, Location Service
3. Reboot
4. Open vpn with country Netherlands/ Austria (VPN doesn't matter as long as its a VPN)
5. Go to update and check it
PS. If it doesn't work try it 2 or 3 times the procedure
Any Question anything feel free to write a comment below ! Enjoy pie !

True! It happened to me, lost LTE because of this. Please be extra careful when doing this or if you don't mind then go ahead, haven't face any other issue so far, it feels faster.

Try setting the VPN to USA, that worked for me, just keep in mind the possibility of losing LTE
focus of gcam doesn't working ?
It worked fine here. And it didn't mess the LTE/4G. Everything is going well

Same there, LTE works.
A reminder that while this may work, it's a bad idea:

Does someone know when will be able to flash Pie via MiFlash?
Worked for me after many fails
The trick was also to clear Google app data and then disable it

So official pie is coming out for everyone via OTA in the next few days?

Is this a fastboot or miflash zip?
Updated using the VPN method, used Windscribe VPN, everything works great, first bootup was longer. LTE works (Czech Republic)
