[Q] Using Data/ROM2SD - Asus Transformer TF700

After finding my infinity collecting dust on a shelf, I've decided to boot it up and start flashing again. Looking to flash ZOMBi-POP OMNI KANG BETA 6 5.10r5.
I've seen in most ROM threads about using Data/ROM2SD to improve performance because the TF series of tablets suffer with below par eMMC.
Questions:
1. Is it worth it? Is it difficult?
2. What's the difference between Data2SD and ROM2SD? Which is better?
3. What is the recommended size microSD card (Class 10) to buy?
4. Will I still be able to put media on the internal memory? Or is everything better being put on the memory card?
Current bootloader: 10.6.1.14.10-20130601
Current ROM: ZOMBi-POP 5.0.2 Omni Deodex
All information is appreciated, I have no idea about this stuff....

1. Sometimes. No
2. data2sd = /data on a microSD that is fater than your internal storage.
rom2sd = /data and /system are on the microSD. No speed/performance boost above data2sd but gives you dual boot capability: One rom on internal, another running off the external card. rom2sd is basically data2sd + system2sd.
IMHO rom2sd is useful if you want and need a reliable daily driver rom on internal, but you also want to play around with another rom or version thereof without having to nandroid/restore your daily driver.
3. Class 10 Samsung Evo or Scandik Ultra are good.
4. Your internal storage is accessible as storage space
Data2sd has been a great improvement on this tablet until ZOMBi-POP b4 or so. I do not see a performance boost on data2sd anymore IF internal data is on the f2fs file system. Maybe better benchmarks but my user experience is just as good with internal /data f2fs.
ZOMBi-POP loves f2fs, runs much better on it than on ext4.
For intsructions how to get to internal /data on f2fs with ZOMbi-POP read this post:

[Q] sd card ext. partitioning questions

I rooted my dInc with UnRevoked & 4ever and am now running SkyRaider 3.0 Sense (seems stable & fast) and I see that there's an update available to SR Sense 3.1 RC3 - so I figure now is a good time to use ROM Manager to create an Ext partition for Apps on my 16G Kingston Class 10 SD card - although I've been using App2SD successfully w/o partitioning the card.
So, I did nandroid & Titanium backups and copied my entire card to a folder on my PC.
My first question is what size ext partition should I choose? (I do currently have a ton of apps - but will be paring down to a leaner machine with fewer redundant apps). Also, what swap size do you suggest?
2nd, Which folders and files do I want to copy from the PC's SD Card folder to the ext partition on my card. Then, all the rest to the main partition?
Then, do I just mount the card in the phone and run the update with a full wipe?
I already have the Goodies installed but, will I want to d/l the newest kernel?
Lastly, which of Titaniums' batch restore scenarios is best to finish with? Missing Apps w/ data? All apps & system data?
I realize there are numerous ways to go on this but I'm hoping you folks have some experience you can share before I make any major changes to a phone that's really running pretty well.
Please keep in mind I'm working with ROM Manager and I haven't gotten into , sdk, adb, emulation or overclocking - yet

[Q] sd-ext portion not working on some ROMS

i partitioned my sd card to get more memory for internal storage, but it doesnt show more memory at all, there was only one custom ROM that it actually works on but the ROM crashes alot, i wanna know how to make it work on any ROM because i barely have any internal memory on my Nexus One. can anyone help? i know it probably sounds dumb, but i really need more internal memory, i tried partitioning my sd card times already, it still doesnt work.
I'm not familiar with how it works on your phone, but usually if the rom doesn't have it built-in, you have to flash something to allow moving apps to your ext partition.
You may want to check your device's forum, I'm sure the answer is there somewhere.

To make sure you partitioned your SD Card correctly go HERE at STEP FIVE - Partitioning Your Sd Card With Gparted (it's a htc desire tutorial, but it doesn't matter). Create the fat32 partition and after that create a 1 GB ext4 partition (it should be enough).
Than go HERE where you have a MIUI ROM, it's fast and looks good and it has data 2 ext and it updates regularly, and i suggest installing the MIUI-NX | 1.8.26 | D2EXT | STABLE. Just flash the ROM and that's it.
After this, read everything from the Nexus One Android Development, i noticed that OxygeN ROM also has data2sd, only with it i think you have to flash a script after flashing the OxygeN ROM.
Also before you start don't forget to do a nandroid backup (i would suggest even using ROM Manager to do the backup as it is very simple to copy the backup on your PC)

A510+Link2sd+EXT3 2nd partition

A510+Link2sd+EXT3 2nd partition PROJECT
hi,
my project is to migrate all apps on a 2nd partition in my SDHC32GB-ultra sandisk
CWM recovery as the option to partition it but its not fully operational
i have a HTC HD2 on CM10 JB1.2 and 5.0.2.6 CWM, all apps are on the SD to free internal memory
my project is to view if the tablet is much more efficient with app on the SD wich is very quick and avoid space bugs...
this is beta project so i will add a tutorial and update it in time
1) create partition on SD for mine 1 swap 32mb 1 EXT3 2048Mb and all available in fat32 for storage
2) i used my HD2 for doing this perhaps another soft permit to do this as acronis disk director
3)insert my SD on the tablet, install link2sd with google play
4)create scripts with EXT3, not EXT4, it is buggy(searching why)
5)reboot
6)restoring apps with Titanium backup
7)enable link2sd auto link BUT DISABLE the dalvik file DEX to migrate on SD it seems buggy and apps are disabled if doing it(searching why)
8a)select multiple app and do mass processing to move them to create link
8b) you will see all apps installed linked to the EXT3 2nd partition
9) test it and report if table is quicker than previously state
not to blame me its a beta project never tested
regards
edit 7)enable link2sd auto link on all 3 settings
I get the hd2 too. Good luck for jour project

thanx
it seems fully operationnal i tried all my apps and all runs as previously, much more efficient seems the tablet
no bad operations at this moment, i hope another mate will try it seems very good for the future
but i suppose performances are due to my SDHC class 10
Hi,
3 days of use, no buggs, more reactive tablet, it seems a good way to store apps on EXT3 SD partition for space in internal memory
and performances, but keep in mind to have a good quality SD card as class10
if you can do it i would recommend a this moment

[Q] using external storage for OS?

Ive been digging around on how to flash cromi-x and data2sd on my tf300t and am still a bit lost. But when reading up on data2sd it seems as though the OS is still running on the slow internal drive. Is it possible to flash cromi-x straight to my class 10 micro sd? Not only have a faster system but not having to risk bricking my internal storage would be a great benefit.

merge data and internal sd

I have the infuse which has a16gb ROM with 12gb internal SD and a 2gb data partition and a galaxy s5 with 16gb ROM which has 12gb storage space that is shared between apps and internal SD. I was wondering if there is a way to setup the infuse to work like the s5 does or at least switch the internal 12gb SD card with the 2gb app storage space. I need lots of room for apps and don't ever even use the internal SD card as I have a 32gb external card in the phone so there is like 12 megs total in use on the internal SD while app storage is completely full with hardly any apps installed. Just kind of seems like a waste to me. Thanks in advanced for any help you might be able to give

Not that easy. You would have to re-route (comment out) the line for /data/data in the fstab file on the boot.img ramdisk. If using stock ROM, then you have to make sure all that is signed the way Samsung wants it.
There are some later KK 4.4 ROM's that ignore the datadata partition (my signature has a link that will provide options) but if you have the AT&T model (v.s. Rogers) and still on FY 2.2 or GB 2.3, there does not seem to be an upgrade path anymore (patched bootloader to flash ICS+ is lost).
A simple solution is to get a MicroSD card, split up that MicroSD with a ext2 second partition, and then use Link2SD. Mind you, the apps on the external SD would be slower, but at least you can get more apps that what you could before.
Hope this helps.
I have cyanfox 4.4 kitkat installed on it already. I know there is ways to use external SD as ext4 partition, is there any way to do something like that with internal SD instead.

You may be able to figure out a solution with FolderMount (or one of the other options in the following SII thread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548834
Alternatively...
I am curious though, how are your wakelocks? Is your Infuse able to fall asleep? This can be determined by going into Settings > Battery > History Details, and checking the blue bar under "Awake". If it spans the width underneath that title (and the screen has been off for a portion of the uptime), then you have a GMS bug, and is common with most 2014 KK ROMs.
Not to sway you particularly - I compiled a build in 2015 that not only abandons /datadata, but also fixes the GMS bug:

May be worth it, even if only just looking at the post.
