AOSP 4.4.4 D2303 Work In Progress - Sony Xperia M2

Hi again all.
Another barebones AOSP for our D2303's. This time it's Kitkat (4.4.4). Again it's using Stock kernel and totally unadulterated code (as-is off the repo). This ROM was built using the Sony guides & is a demonstration that it is doable.
I have not tested this ROM yet, I will be later on tonight when I get time to TWRP backup my LP.
This ROM sort of works!
* Wifi, BT, Data, Calls, SMS work
* NFC does not for me (does on 5.0.2 though)
* Sensors do not appear to be working
* Still no camera or loudspeaker on call for me
* Few UI glitches (menus jumping left and right)
5.0.2 is more stable, however this is more responsive in general.
Flash this the same way as 5.0.2 in my other post. If you want to take a backup first, using the boot.img from OmniROM 4.4.4 for the D2303 and use "fastboot boot boot.img" - Remember not to flash (we dont need to keep this kernel, although it //may// work with this ROM, no idea) - We just boot and hit volume down repeatedly during Sony logo and get into recovery.
Root by flashing SuperSU.zip using TWRP boot method. xPosed by normal means after rooting.
Magnet Link - Please be patient - May be slow to start until more people seed

I am not sure of the modem requirements of this ROM. It may work on a 4.4.4 modem, but to be safe and cautious, using a 4.4.2 should be safe (as a 4.3 should hopefully be). However, I have so far found the 4.4.4 modem just does not get on with LP. You may have diffent mileage with different modems (4.4.4 for example). I am still using a 4.4.2 modem and don't really want to go flashing a modem again to only flash back. I will be going back to the LP
Again no idea if this ROM works yet
I will test later on tonight, but I put the link up for others to try. I will give this a shot later & give it a good bashing.
Use this ROM purely at your own risk
Please feedback any success or failures.

Can you upload on MEGA? :'(

This time the boot.img is the proper one
I still havent tested this ROM yet, the missus and I were Ingressing all night. If anyone has tested, can they give a little info of their experiences please?
Tested it, and it's got a few shortfalls for me.. I've updated the OP to show.
Am now going to build 5.1.0 - why not eh?

Can you develope the CM11?
Sent from my Xperia M2 using XDA Free mobile app

So its ONLY for d2303?

I have to say yes for it being only for the d2303. Without another variant of the handset or anyone to test, nobody can say for sure. Sorry about this, blame Sony.
I only tinker, Galaxyfreak is the best guy for CM work

I can be there for testing part for d2302 model if you try to port it to d2302.. @Dutch Burdock

Ive removed the download links as I noticed why this ROM is buggy. I did not clean out the old build and the kitkat is using binaries for LP. I will rebuild again soon and repost. Sorry for this.
As for the testing on other devices, since I am not a developer, the only thing I can suggest is you take a good backup and try flashing one of these ROMs (my 5.0.1 build is the most stable minus camera.) I would like to think itd work, minus second sim function, but i have no way of knowing unless someone braves this attempt. BACKUP IS IMPORTANT. Flashtool is your friend.

Don't think it would work otherwise it would be in the device tree. It's not a lte model so would not boot up dual is only 3g and 2g

Since many users asking the same questions over and over again i'm going to start with many "basics" answers for you
Why? because you guys won't use the search button :silly:
Can i revert back to kitkat safely?
Yes And No, If you have upgraded the bootloader.
If you have upgraded with Bootloader you might have some IMEI issues, And afaik there is none that has fixed this. Thus who hasn't updated the booloader can still revert back.
I got no baseband or WIFI
Go to More > About Device
Scroll down until you see baseband. if you don't have HOA7 in the end that means you're wifi won't work with stock kernel
Make sure that you always read the OP and if OP hasn't stated it, you need to update your modem and NON-HLOS.bin
Make sure to uncheck auto reboot before flashing!
Battery life is terrible
Yeah ofc you haven't had the rom for more than x days so it hasn't been fully set.
Can i use CF-Auto Root
NO! People who used this also flashed update-su in recovery, however flashing CF-Auto root isn't needed and it will not work due to old binaries.
How can i root?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/guide-t3018625
Why does X And Y FC
because you didn't provide logcat.
Why does it takes 2x minutes for it to boot first time?
because samsung made some changes which i can't tell, i've never seen such a slow upgrading screen on lollipop neither on stock versions.

Sounds like an interesting attempt to try and get this ROM to work. It doesn't sound like it's too far off either.
Here's some of my thoughts on it:
- Maybe try replacing the Fingerprint app with a 5.0.2 version, if the bootloader is the same it might solve the issue.
- Did you root before testing Wifi? Maybe trying to do this may have caused the problem. However the main thing is it works, just needs adjustment.
- With rooting, I'm thinking that this firmware is possibly higher in API version than what SuperSU is, out of curiosity, what API is this ROM?
I'm willing to try and help out where I can (CWM Building, testing), but I can only do so much of it since my S5 is my main phone.
Another fun thing to find out is how it goes with Deodexing.
The only thing we would have to sort out is a G900I fix for NFC and we might be good to go. One thing worth testing too is how a current custom kernel goes with this (KT-SGS5 or Boeffla). If it's the same bootloader, we might be lucky enough for these kernels to work. This could help with rooting issues too.
yes the rom have an higher api and i cant find any root that works with it. wifi works but it only dont remember the password after a reboot. replacing the app for fingerprint is not tested but i can test that

Test custom kernels too, it might end up being useless but still something to test anyways.
Unfortunately with root I think we'll have to wait for a newer version of SuperSU to come out, unless the custom kernel helps.
If a custom kernel works, I could try and build a CWM using a custom kernel and rooting it via installation.
I'm downloading the ROM now as I speak and I'm gonna see if I have any luck with a deodex / root
Geiti you are a mastermind....thx for all ur work

i tried all custom kernels for g900f but no one works because they are not for 5.1.1. thats why the rom uses the stock tmobile kernel

I know how to do some small modifications to kernels via the ramdisk level, can root be done via just the default.prop or do i need to recompile the zImage ??
Let me have a go at it
Why cant it be rooted cm12.1 is 5.1.1 and that can be.Excuse my ignorance
Sim card not found
I've installed the rom but i've no network
OK I'm calling it tonight for now....
I've got a CWM ready to test and a tweaked kernel to test, but I'm getting some sleep for now lol.
I'll test what I've done in the morning
BTW, Thanks!
if you compressed the file it will be appreciated.
best regards.

Only 1.3GB rather than 2.4GB. If any trouble I shall remove
which benefits are of 5.1.1 instead 5.0?
smoother, faster ?
antutu score?
Does it come with the new Touchwiz, like s6 ? And raw format for the camera ?
Here are my 2 cents:
Once kernel is SELinux permissive, root will be possible like in the M preview.
However, Samsung have not released 5.1.1 kernel source yet, so there is nothing to do regarding it.
Don't rush installing it because it is full of TMobile junk(not just apps, also in codes and carrier iq). G900F would probably get it in 2 weeks maybe less.
According to people reports, there is nothing from S6, but improvements of speed.
Waiting is the key here.

[ROM] [Deodexed, N920PSPT1AOGD, 100% Stock, Rooted, No Knox] [9/6/2015]

With a team effort from myself and @tdunham I'm back again with a completely stock build of Android TW-Lollipop 5.1.1 (N920PVPU1AOGD) for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 5.. I built this stock pre-rooted ROM using the official Samsung tar ball. The ROM will self root upon flash and it has init.d/busybox support (when custom kernels support it). Knox and Sprint Itson has been removed completely. It is completely stock with all of the original factory installed apps as well as a few added features. This build contains a fully deodexed framework and system apps.
Other than the removal of Knox and Sprint Itson, it is stock in almost every other way. This first build is stock and will stay that way. I may make a custom rom later on. This ROM is intended for people who want the stock rom in it's original form with the addition of root and removal of Knox & itson, as well as other members who need a good solid base for their rom projects. I give permission for other dev's to use this rom as your base and I highly recommend that you do so because it is bug-free and built from the official Samsung tar ball. However I do expect proper credit if you use this rom for any other project. If you discover any issues please send me a PM as I may not continuously monitor this thread. If you like my work please press that Thanks button, rate this thread, and consider a kind donation! Enjoy!
About ROM:
Android 5.1.1 N920PVPU1AOGD_N920PSPT1AOGD_SPR
Stock N920PVPU1AOGD kernel (root-permissive) by: @Manh_IT
All factory installed apps including the Sprint Setup Wizard, etc are included. Nothing was removed except...
Knox and Sprint Itson removed.
Hotspot mod enabled
Added camera shutter sound option in camera settings
Added call/message block in settings
Enabled call recording from the phone dialer
Private mode works out of the box
That's about it... for now. This should be as close to the original rom as possible.
Known issue:
tx_dbs_tx said:
I just wanted to let people know that Sprint "ID" is causing Carrier Setup Wizard to fc as well as ID itself. This is a known issue and it is caused by Sprint "ID". I have not been able to successfully deodex it. The apk doesn't like to be deodexed. Until ID has an update through Google Play or Sprint Zone I will not be able to update it in the rom. Once there's an update to ID please send me a PM and I will update the rom. Until then you will have to delete or freeze Sprint "ID" to stop the fc's. Sorry for this inconvenience. It is out of my control at this time.

If you are currently on the stock unrooted rom:
You ONLY need to flash the latest TWRP recovery ( for the N920P ) using odin on your pc. Nothing else. Then flash this rom afterwards. The ROM zip will pre-root your phone as well as flash the stock root-permissive OGD kernel by @Manh_IT
Flashing instructions: ***Before beginning the flash/setup process MAKE SURE your battery has at least 50% charge and/or connected to the charger!!!***
1. Backup anything you don't want to lose off your internal device storage to another location just to be safe.
2. Download the rom using your pc. (downloading with your phone has a much higher risk of file corruption. Not recommended with large files).
3. VERIFY the md5!!! Once the download has finished, compare the AFH md5 using a md5 tool on your pc. (Google "md5 checksum windows").
4. Put the downloaded rom onto your internal storage..
5. With phone powered off, reboot into recovery by pressing and holding volume up, power and the home button until you see the Samsung logo then release all buttons.
6. Once in recovery choose the wipe button and do a factory reset three times. Optional but recommended is to wipe "Data". This will wipe all of your user data such as google accounts so MAKE SURE you backed up first like I said in step #1 above! Next go to "advanced wipe" and select all of the partitions EXCEPT internal storage. Wiping Internal storage is optional but recommended in certain circumstances. The reason is to remove left-over data from previous version of Android and start with a clean slate.
7. Choose the "Install" option and select the rom "Sprint_Hybrid_N920PSPT1AOGD" from your internal storage. It will flash the rom and give a confirmation once completed.
8. Press "Reboot" then "reboot system". You should get no prompts or warnings about not having root.
9. Initial rom "optimization" may take several minutes while ART builds its cache and the phone will remain on the yellow Sprint Spark screen for about 8 to 10 minutes. Let the phone optimize for at least 10 minutes and the screen WILL eventually turn off or show the setup wizard once it finishes. If the screen turns off then simply turn it on and proceed to setup your phone.
10. Once finished with the setup wizard, wait a few moments and the phone will automatically install the Sprint apps. (I know... nobody likes that suff!) You must either "accept" or "disagree" with each and every google prompt for these apps or else the installs pause until you do so.. That's it! You're done!
flashing anything on your device is done at your own risk. There is no way myself or any other developer can guarantee that flashing this ROM or any other file will not brick your device or otherwise cause some other type of damage. This is just a standard warning. I am not responsible for anything that you do to your device.

Did u download the ROM on ur phone? If so, u still have to verify the MD5. One thing about DBS ROMs is a completely clean slate is best. I would re-download the ROM on computer the verify and move to internal storage. U have a backup to go to JIC?

No I don't have the Note 5. I was invited to come help with the new stock base rom and thisis simply my own version with everything left in the rom and is hybrid odexed/deodexed.
Can somebody please download, verify md5 and test flash for me. I need to make sure there's not a problem with the rom. I need a comfirmation from a couple of people wether you successfully boot or not. Thank you.

The md5 matched, but I'm also getting a failed boot at the spark screen. sits on it for a good 10 minutes, reboots, then does it again.
Do you care if i use this as a base? Gonna go through and pull bloat for the lazys and reup it.. credits due of course for your orginial work. Lmk
Thanks for the build. Gonna run in as soon as the dl finishes
So being that this is odex and deodexed and some system apps aren't deodexed, will xposed work with this rom?
tx_dbs_tx , Original poster is correct, flashed 3 times 3 dls, no go,, same result long wait on spark logo, random reboot and restarts again, wont fully boot as is

A couple of people are currently working on the stock OGD root-permissive kernel. When they release it for testing or final build, i will include it in the rom. However I don't think the current kernel is the problem.
I sent an invite but I can't test until tomorrow I left my damn computer at work. But if you ever need some one to test something let me know, I'll gladly risk my device! Haha

Should we upgrade to 5.1 ?

Hi, I have D2403 with zexperience installed on it and I wanted to hear your guys oppinions on 5.1.I have locked bootloader and I can't unlock it and I dont understand is it safe to root now or no with Locked BL? Is it worth to update 5.1 or should i stay with my current system etc..?
cheers
Yes you can update of you want to, it does take up slightly more room than kk did. it took about two weeks for my battery life to settle down but once it does battery life is better than kk for me never get less than 5-6hrs screen time sometimes a bit more and that's with the zram as Sony intended. yes root is available for LB but only by flashing a pre-rooted zip via recovery on rooted kk and recovery is only available at the minute by using t2u nut dual recovery(not ideal but it does work). If you're totally stock and don't want root I'd update by Sony pcc. Only thing I'm really missing is xposed I think it was worth the wait myself.

Rooting is as safe as ever. Just more complicate to enable it (basically start from KK, root it, install recovery, make PRF file with 5.1.1 system, flash PRF file from recovery, flash rooting zip from recovery, flash remaining 5.1.1 components with Flashtool and restart all over downgrading to KK if anything goes wrong).
Regarding if it's worth it.. The current issues are:
- The camera sucks for many. Even Xperia Blog reported it now.
- It uses more RAM (which is vey disappointing. I thought ART was going to need less memory?!). Disabling the zram and setting the minfree as they were in KitKat one gets nearly zero multitasking
- Frequent I/O wait even with the zram disabled (but not as bad as with the zram. Unfortunately see above)
- The WiFi has different functionalities from KK (it stays connected to the WiFi even if the AP drops the internet connection. The option to disable it has gone. In other cases it shows an exclamation mark due to something with Captive Networks)
- It seems to me it lags more. But I have plenty of apps installed.
- Few old apps perform poorly
- Many old KK Xperia themes won't work in full , yet (at least the ones I liked the most)
- Potential issues with the GPS (it seems to be a bug in Lollipop generally speaking)
- I hate the new notifications
The Pros:
- Better Stamina mode
- The slick new UI, I especially love the new open applications list (which finally puts a separate window for apps open inside other apps. IMDB from TV Sideview excluded, though)
- Some newer apps make full use of the Lollipop API and more will follow
IMO KitKat is more stable and efficient. But I like Lollipop nonetheless so I decided to stick with it. The few bugs around aren't a deal breaking to me.
Yes you should always upgrade to the newest android.
After battery drain, gps and camera issue I am back to 4.4.4 and ALL work fine and i am happy.
I'm holding back to see if we can get a working recovery (other than Nut's T2U) on a locked bootloader and hopefully then @linuxct will cook us up a new version of his Lite ROM based on 5.1.1 with all the kinks of the official software ironed out

We (@AleksJ and I) are currently working on a fully functional recovery solution for both Lollipop and KitKat (No need to use T2U solutions anymore, which is quite RISKY as I explained in some threads before).
If there aren't any inconveniences, we should be releasing it soon. After that I'll start the Z4 eXPERIence 4.0 (it'll be a light edition) development.
Yea true, two days ago linuxct told me that he's found a way to use a good bueselinux module by zxz0O0 in our recovery installer.
Well fine the installer is back on the game, it can be used on the recent Android release with old recovery. But....recently we also noticed a very nasty touch screen issues the reasons for which are unclear for now.
p.s.
The PhilZ Touch project is "End Of Support", but believe or not with this recovery boot.img I can install and run on my unlocked M2 the latest Omnirom and CM (without sensors lib) in the same way as CWM and TWRP..)
Of course I can't and don't want to tell anyone what and how to do. Just share my opinion.
Hi, when can we expect the new Z4 eXPERIence 4.0to arrive? if You need some Beta testers, I would be happy to asign
(Sorry if this isn't the right thread for the question!)
@semil
Linuxct said he will work on updating that rom after he and AleksJ finish working on a legit recovery for LB.

X9009 OPPO F1Plus CM12.1 BOOT, URGENT,DEVs needed..

Hey everyone here, i have tried some wuxian CM builds last couple days back, firstly i'm not a new guy on this things, flashing, rooting android devices, but here i now asking everyone of you.
Bad project i started picking my wife's phone as a test. Rooting with someone here @xda tgread sharing some autoroot zip, then i flash the twrp, i've backup of stock recovery.. And am not stop there you know its should be amazing if you run some AOSP based rom on this beast, then i start searching, and jumping from some thread out there Vietnam, chinese forum and i'm really lucky that found the Wuxianlin sharing files from some chinese giant search engine, i'm really happy downloading some stuff and damn cool he has the CM12.1 which i really thank him for it, he's actively pushing some new builds, as i found some number builds at there.
Yaaay its CM12.1 , i fully back up the rom with TWRP then flashing the CM12.1 and opengapps 5.1 ..rebooting right after flash WTF Cool its boot and its 100%fully stable & smooth, except the simcard won't detected as i found that in setting app seem the baseband is unknown (i do have a backup of NVRAM,imei,etc).. i dig it more how that sim cannot be detected, my personal reasons: its because the Wuxianlin build its CM based/specific R9m(Chinese varian), as i'm on international variants (X9009) so i tried thingking to make some changes/convert the devices as R9m, restoring the stock recovery (this the fault ive made as i believe Wuxian has the stock recovery of some official build) ,downloading the official rom that Wuxian reserved on his drive, flashing the stock recovery(my backup), and flashing official rom from him, but its failed to update.. Panic started here as i already wiping the rom si there's no chances to boot into the rom , as stock recovery won't mounted as MTP this a really annoying, now i'm stuck on recovery(official).
Searching some SPFlashTool rom and this was my last chances to bring my phone back to live, damb its really hard to find the SPFlashtool ROM for this devices, till ive finally found one on Vietnam forums, downloading and extracting the rom , try to flash it but always failed, the more panic situations comes up when i choose the upgrade tab on SPFlashtool option (which its formated whole partitions) and yess its still failed to load, some error pop-up right after the yellow bar flashing progress..seems the scatter file was fault, missmatch as the error said.
Now i'm stuck on blackscreen and no recovery, its only vibrate when i try to power it down. I REALlY NEED help and please somebody here share me the MTKDroidtools backup rom, or some has the SPFlashtool Firmware please share here thanks

And fore those whose wanna try CM12.1 by Wuxianlin make sure you have a BACKUP!!! *warning currently twrp backup cannot be restored system partitions won't restored. *Do resize system partitions on TWRP (make sure that you mounted the system before) to be able restoring that huge system partitions.

Some method Trying to make the SIM detected, but all useless and FAILED :
1- trying convert X9009 variant to R9 downloading firmware flashtool, but failed to flash the R9rom to X9009, some error on flashtool that cannot be translated since its in Chinese.
2- flashing via TWRP, since rhe twrp its self was build for R9 variants, downloading some OTA (StockRom of R9), flashing and its boot up, everythings work good here, finger, sound, sensor, camera etc, except no gapps, and SIM not recognized the baseband itself was unknown status, and mess imei numbers.
3- Backup whole imei and basebands related partitions on stock X9009 (NVRAM,SECRO,NVDATA), flashing R9 stock OTA&rooted, restoring whole Backup parritions bellow and still no luck, Baseband status unknown.
-flashing CM12.1 rom and restoring the whole backup baseband and imei related still failed.
4. Try to use MTKDroidTool somehow the NVRAM&Imei backup cannot be done since the tab not even click-able.
CM12.1 it does have rhe sane issue/bug according to wuxian*
"R9m is my own machine, do not intend to often used to play ROM; CM just do play, do not seriously; the other hand, it is estimated that not many people have a third-party ROM needs.
Known bugs:
1. Fingerprint can not be used
2. Unicom card needs to re-card only signal, mobile card does not seem to signal"
If anyone of you has some suggestions,advice..share here please and thanks
Not working

Grant root access for flashify backup your stock recovery before flashing the TWRP its work for me, even on the latest OTA
But as you mentioned sim is not working and the fingerprint is also not working.
Sent from my SM-N900 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Its for CM not caused by flashing TWRP, ots just optional if you wanna try AOSP sensations just flash that CM
