[Request] Soft keys - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have any zipthemer softkeys for 5.1.1?
Tried using ones from the old candy shop thread and nothing will flash successfully.
Thanks

Use the SoftKeyZ app. This is my phone on 5.1 with it.

In trying it man but they don't change on reboot and I don't understand why......gonna play with it some more

You using " SoftKeyZ"? The app works fine. You just pick the icons grin the app, or it's online ones and pick the size. I use the 1_1,normal, press the tick and that's it. Silly question..You are rooted?
That's a great network you're on btw. Can't get over how cheap it ££12quid for unlimited data 4g tons of calls and text. My American gf pays a fortune. Found one for£10 same deal

I'm rooted and busybox is installed. No reason why it shouldn't work from what I can see, its weird!
Yeah man 3 are really good.... I've got unlimited everything for a killer price

Might not be supported yet is my guess...
Nope not working here either. Shouldn't be too much longer before they fix it.
a lot of these apps don't work properly on 2.3
It does work, what doesnt work is the Gba emulator
Contacted the developer and he said he should be able to fix when he gets his nexus s.

Any update on that? Does it now work for the Nexus S?
Snesoid has worked on mine since I bought it in January. I did pay for the app if it matters. I'm running on stock unrooted 2.3.3.
I played Super Mario RPG start to finish with no issues or lag at all. I can confirm gensoid works also.
Xda app won't let me upload a screenshot. Wrong format.

Hi,
new to android world. I've bought a nexus s yesterday and downloaded snesoid from market.
Dumb question: where do you put the roms? as nexus s doesn't have sd card is not clear to me how i should setup application to work properly.
It is unrooted and i want to keep it as it is for the moment (want to learn more before to do it).
Any help?
thanks in advance.
I think i figure out ... it has a mnt point within sdcard as there is one...

Everything is working fine on my note 3 except FC on hangout/sms when sending mms and ok google active listening prompt as it FCes too. There is a temporary fix to that by switching back n forth languages . Soon as you open anything in your phone and go back it will FC again.

I got it to work with the advice from this comment.
Use this thread to get everything working. Those sites don't have the necessary lib files.

I don't have root access to my Note 3. I followed the instructions to download all the necessary files, installed them in the proper order, and did the language switch trick, but I'm getting force closes whenever I swipe to the left and click on any card.
^^^exactly .I dont want to root my phone . Doing the language switch is just a temporary solution and will go back to force close when do anything after on your phone .

no idea how i did this..
Okay so I'm not totally new to android. Tbh I do a lot more modding on I phones. But way more than your average jailbreaker.
I've had a rooted gs1 gs3 and now I've turned in my iphone5 for the Note 3. Great decision.
So I have my rooted note 3 on at&t.
I then somehow got xposed framework to work with the new Google launcher. (Okay Google hotword and Google now to the left working fully ) also installed the Google keyboard after with no problems.
The weird thing to me is I read all the instructions on how to install the new Google launcher experience, and followed the instructions.
But when I went to install all the apps but the Google launcher file (last file you install) they failed to install. So then once installing the launcher I rebooted. Then went into the xposed framework and turned on and off the module and rebooted again. Then I set all my settings, rebooted again. And the FINAL product is
The new Custom Themed Google experience.
Here are some pics.

[Q] OK Google on lockscreen

I thought I remembered reading that OK Google should work even on your lockscreen if you use slide and from any other screen as long as your device is awake but it only works on my home screen or Google now... An I just wrong or is something wrong with my device?
Sent from my Nexus 5
Nothing wrong with your device.. This feature is enabled only for US devices.. Although there may be a workaround to activate it on your device I heard.. I'm from India and this feature does not work on my phone

My device is a US device... I bought it in America and a friend brought it to me...
Sent from my Nexus 5
Its not from where you buy it. Its what carrier you are connected to and what is your primary email id on device. If your email id has address/postal code of outside of us then your device is not consider as us device
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Oh well. I'm guessing there's no way to fake it yet...? Thanks a lot!

I have the US version and live in the US and "OK Google" does NOT work from the lockscreen. It only works from the homescreen or Google Now as OP has stated.
Pretty sure it's only supposed to work from the Homescreen where the microphone symbol is present. Confirm/deny?
Actually now that I look it up on all the reviews it says on home screen or Google now... But I remember reading a while ago saying unlocked out lockscreen without password... Whatever.
If it worked on the lockscreen though that would be awesome... So much more useful
Sent from my Nexus 5
OK Google in India
You can still use the feature.. Don't worry..just follow these simple steps:
Menu>settings>language & input
Change the language to English (US).
Now just go back to your home screen.. And say 'OK google'
Worked for me and my friends..
Cheers!!

Shift worker app

Does anyone know what shift worker app is the best on the android market? I rely on these apps to plan my months and the one I used to use on my iPhone doesn't appear to be available. Any help would be really appreciated!!

I just bit the bullet and entered all my shifts into Google Calendar. My shift pattern repeats after 10 weeks, so although it took me a little while to get those first ten entered, the "repeat every xx...." function in Calendar means I never have to mess around with it again.
Also, having it in my calendar means that Google Now can give me reminders when to leave for work early if, for instance, the traffic is bad that day.
Plus, if I ever move away from Android (unlikely) then my Calendar can come with me, no issues - rather than facing the same problem which you have now.
To actually display my calendar I like Calendar Pad's widget. Also I have Calendar Status Pro in my notification shade, which is handy because I have a constant reminder of calendar appointments every time I pull down the shade.
I'm always interested in trying out new solutions if they can provide better functionality though, so I'd be interested to hear what other people use too
That's an idea I had already contemplated but my shifts change every 5 weeks. I used an app on the iPhone called 'Shift worker' made by a company called production shed. I've emailed them to see if they have the same app available for android but I highly doubt it! Shame a dev couldn't come up with something that we could really make great use of! All the apps I've saw just look mega complicated. Might need to resort to Google calendar though and integrate it with Google now.

I have used Flexr for about a year. :good:

Arbeitskalender is also a good app. You can find it in PlayStore. I am sorry, I don't have the link right now.

I use fire shifts calendar. Its got quite a few different shift rotations that work for just about any fire/ems shift rotation I've seen. Plus its free.

Stock Lollipop ROM?

I just recently purchased a Nexus 5 online and it came pre loaded with Android M, which I was excited for. However with me using the camera a lot, Android M is not for me. (Camera pictures flipping, app crashing, etc.)
Can someone provide a stock lollipop ROM, or let me know if there is a way to downgrade and keep stock? I am all for rooting and flashing, but with Nexus devices it's just made for stock OS.
A flashablr tar.md5 file would be preferred because I like to use Odin, but otherwise a .zip will work too.
Thanks!

Yes, I dropped my galaxy s5 and there was no external damage, but the drop damaged the internal sound card. So all audio was heavily static.
I used a website called swappa.com to buy my new phone.

I paid $225 for a Mint condition Nexus 5. Came with box, original cables, still had plastic on the camera and screen. Came with 2 cases too. Not to mention 1 day shipping.
