can't disable text message preview - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I'm running Team Nocturnal VM 12.1 ROM. Everything running smooth. But I can't hide my text so that it just says new message. I've looked online the options I read aren't available so I'm wondering if there's a workaround maybe. Also can I do this with the hangout app? I like to use that for SMS but I don't know how to disable the annoying heads up notification it uses. Please & Thank You for any assistance

[Q&A] PACman 4.3 Questions and Help thread

I didn't see this yet, figured I post it. Feel free to use it to ask questions too. This is in relations to this Rom and thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141603
I just switched over to it from CM10.2 and I'm digging it, however, I'm confused with some of the settings. I was hoping someone can help answer the following:
1. Halo: How do I block certain apps from appearing in Halo? I have some persistent apps in the notification / status bar and at the moment they all appear in halo despite not choosing them / pin under the halo app.
2. my gmail force closes every now and then even though I installed fresh from the store. It says "blame tyler"?
3. Some apps, specifically Gmail, seems to be in a much lower dpi so it appears really small text. Anyway to change it to default settings? I looked under the hybrid settings but no luck. Is there another setting somewhere?
Thanks!
1. Go into Manage Apps, select the app you want to block from Halo, and check the blacklist from Halo box.
2. I can't remember exactly, but I think it's an in joke, it's been discussed in the ROM thread.
3. Go to hybrid settings, per app, and adjust the dpi settings.

Thank you timmaaa!
1. If I blacklist from manage apps, do I still need to "pin" apps to the Halo app? Since this seems like by blacklisting from manage apps, it's in theory allowing all other apps to work in halo, so no need to pin them specifically?
2. oh, I see haha.
3. Thanks!!!!
You can either blacklist or whitelist, you can choose that in halo settings.
For example, if you only want messages and hangouts to notify via halo, you'd choose whitelist as it's going to be easier to select just those two apps to be whitelisted.
On the other hand, if you want every app apart from messages and hangouts to notify via halo you'd choose blacklist as it's easier to exclude just those two. No need to pin the rest, unless it's blacklisted it will notify via halo.

Hi everyone, sorry for these little questions, but I have one more. Attached is a screenshot of the "Recent Apps" screen. There's a sidebar with apps there, are there any way to remove or change them? Thanks.

Hide Message Previews on Whatsapp

Hi all,
I have a Moto X and love the Active Display on it. The problem is that I want to hide message details only for WhatsApp and not for others, but WhatsApp does not have the settings to disable message previews. I've searched a lot for Xposed modules regarding this but all in vain. Any suggestions?

Best messages app?

Verizons sucks imo. Everytime I try to change a color of a text bubble for my conversations the **** never ****ing saves. Also with the new lollipop update my group.me app has a little dialog box that scrolls down from the top of the screen and shows me the first 7 or so words of the persons message with the ability to reply and or like their comment, I was wondering if any of you know of a texting app with this capability. thanks
Textra
I use evolve, I love being able to reply from the status bar and swipe through different message feeds with quick swipe in for the conversation list. It's also very customizable.
Hangouts. I find it pretty good. Previously had used Handcent but since Hangouts integerates sms, mms and voice, it works great for me.

Text Messaging App with Read Receipt, telll when someone is typing and with themes.

Howdy folks. I have looked allot on the net and I cant seem to find an SMS app that supports these options, (Read receipt, show when someone is typing and themeable sms app) except the stock sms samsung app that came with my S10+ but no themes or color change options. Problem is, I really want themes with these features and I cant find any text messaging app that supports it all. Ive tried several anyway and no luck. Does anyone know of any sms app that actually does support these options?
Thanks allot for your time and effort. I truly appreciate it allot!

Android 11, Messages Chat Bubble

I have a Pixel 3a, and I updated to Android 11 yesterday (official release) OTA update. My phone is completely stock with Developer mode enabled. I noticed that in the notifications for Messages I do not have the option to break it out into the chat bubble (similar to Facebook Messenger). I verified in the notifications settings that I have All conversations can bubble. I am running Google Messages 6.4.044. Has anyone else run into this yet?
Thank you!
I have bubbles enabled and I don't see the option to make text msgs turn into bubbles either. Neither does FB Messenger show the option.
On top of that, everytime I click on the search bar of any Google app, a small text bubble appears which says "null". Weird a** bugs
Edit: Installing Messages Beta fixed the issue for me. It enables bubbles.

Thank you! If the beta is stable, I'll go that route.
Hi,
Same issue for me regarding bubbles with message and whatsapp.
Bubbles are disabled by default (Messages) or only for selected chats (FB Messenger). So you have to enable first by yourself. Everything is working fine here if enabled properly in the settings.
Bubbles are allowed on my p3a, but I don't see them. I've just installed Messages BĂȘta and same issue [emoji53]
Edit: precisely I have small bubbles at the top of the screen (as notifications used to be previously but different colors) and I'm unable to move them on the screen and to keep them active (like fb messenger)
For those who have the issue, you're not alone
There is a 400+ posts thread on google assistance forum.

Bubbles seem to work fine for Telegram, Google Messages after upgrade to beta and the easter egg cat.
However FB messenger and WhatsApp notifications show no bubble activation icon.
