It will reset everything, so get ready to lose stuff. But then again you probably already have while upgrading.

Hi guys, I have an LG G2 VS980 and I want to be able to take OTA updates when they get pushed to me. Whenever I have taken updates, I would get stuck in TWRP and unable to get out without a backup. I fixed that issue but I want to completely go back to stock. All I had installed was Xposed but I removed the framework. I can't wait for Lollipop to come to my phone, but I'm just hoping LG doesn't overskin it or let Verizon put even more bloatware on it.

Thank you
I have a GS4 which just got the NG6 update. My phone is now a mess. Several weeks ago I took the update and then reverted back to the NC5 software, restored a nandroid and all was good. Then, VZW pushed the OTA again (without my permission). My question is if I go back to NC5 and then switch to Hyperdrive ROM, will VZW still be able to update my phone? I don't want to go through all the trouble to downgrade, re-root, and customize another ROM just to be prompted to update again.
Any advise would be welcome. Thanks so much!
Hi,
No, if you flash a custom rom, you will not get updates from your carrier. You only get updated if you're on a stock rom.
?
Thank you. Thread closed.
My Nexus 5 is on 4.4.4 (was wating for first Lolipop update with some of the bugs fixed before updating.) It's rooted with TWRP. So I can't perform a stock OTA. I rarely mess with the ROM/Recovery/Bootloader so each time a major update comes out, by that time I forgot what to do. I know there are instructions out there but it's a bit scarey not knowing for sure if they are the right ones for my particular situation.
Essentially I want the easiest+safewest way to get from 4.4.4 rooted to 5.0.1. I don't mind going back to fully stock if that is the easiest+safest route. I can root again later down the road if I need to (not really making use of any apps that I can't live without that need root and having stock OTA would be simpler in the future.) If I have to lose all apps/data, so be it, but I'd obviously prefer not. I found these instructions, but they are going from 5.0.0 to 5.0.1

If anyone can throw me a bone, I'd be grateful.
Thanks

Just use the Google flash all bat file. Just backup everything to pc first
There is no need to go back to stock if you don't want to.

I want to upgrade from NCB to OG1
Yes you read that correctly. Back when the S5 came out I rooted and haven't upgraded since. Its equal parts that I`m lazy and that when the first few updates came out most people were unimpressed or tried to downgrade. Why now? Because I've upgraded on my tablet, I like the latest software (that i plan to have for another year) and I would like it on my phone. I fully understand that i'll have to wipe all user data and that by the time I'm done my phone will think it's a virgin.
So I've been doing research on the matter and from what I can tell I have to upgrade to at least OD3 in order to successfully flash the OG1 update. My main questions are:
Can i just wipe all user data/dalvik and straight odin OG1 or should I do other versions first?
If I need to do steps what versions do i need to flash in order to successfully get to OG1 so I don't have to do all 7 individually?
Anything important i should do when going through this process? Yes I will do a full backup of my phone just in case.
Is it worth the headache?
Start first with OA6, if you don't like it you can be back to NCB. If you go for OG1 you will be stuck on Lollipop. And you can go straight to OG1
What he means is flash oa6 firmware but don't go past that build otherwise you won't be able to go back to Kitkat if you ever wanted to any build newer than oa6 blocks going back.
You can flash direct but you should format internal storage first so backup everything off of there first.

Alright I'll try that then, my main concern was updating the version. I had read elsewhere on the s5 forums that you had to be on a minimum version for it to work. Thanks for clearing that up.
I'd like to get the phone on Lollipop. I think I had 30F in it before I bricked it. It's on KitKat stock now and I'm just going to sell it, but I really want to include the latest ROM. How do I get it back to Lollipop? Software Update is telling me it's up to date, which makes no sense at all.
