[Q] D6633 automatic sim selection? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, every time I dial a contact I need to select which sim to use. This is fine when using the dial pad, but its a bit annoying when using direct dial.
Is there any way to pre assign a sim to a specific contact or do something similar to automatic sim selection, like what Motorola has?
Thanks in advance

On stock I don't think so. I use the pixelphone pro dialer where you can select defaults for each sim.

Lolipop Dual SIM automatic selection problem
Hi, well, alternative dialers were always here - I personally use TrueDialer, which automatically detect preffered SIM based on Call history and other parameters
BUT - after upgrade to Lolipop on Xperia Z3 dual sim, this not possible anymore. Since the upgrade Truedialer and others automatically selects the right SIM but then SIM selection from the system pops up anyway . This is an annoying problem - anybody know how to fix it?
Cheers

Have you tried pixelphone? I don't have lollipop so can't test it.

[Q] Android Dual-sim: auto set which sim to use

Is it possible in a dual sim phone to set which sim it will use in a contact based way? I mean, when I call "Home" it should automatically use Sim2, when I call Job it will automatically use Sim1, and so on?
Because as far as I know most dual-sim popups a menu asking which sim to use everytime you make a phone call.
Hello, anybody there?
Should be possible

Hi ,
NGM mobile has that option.
See their manual on ngm-mobile dot com website with extension
images/Documenti/EN/NGM%20Smart%20Dial_EN.pdf
They say to activate "associate contacts" in the Settings -> SIM setting. But on my phone the option to do that just isn't there.

Salvolin
Check out the app “SIM Selector”. I must say it wasn’t first mentioned by me, but by Zimtsäure in this post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44478879&postcount=83.

[Q] Remove Dual Sim Settings

Hi folks,
I would like to remove Dual Sim Setting option from setting menu in xt1033.
For changing settings of Dual Sim i would rather want to have a application shortcut in my launcher.
Anybody having option how to do that.
Note :- Development through Xposed is preferred.
Thanks in advance
do you use second sim ?

Yes i want you second sim, but i want to hide the setting option from settings. I would like the dual sim option in launcher instead, so that i can hide the option from their on need basis.
Actually i want my phone to pretend a single sim phone while as administrator configuration for secondary sim can be changed.
Well I thought you need only 1 sim well then you need to code yourself and make a XDA module. As per mine knowledge there is no module that can do so. Also no other ROM gives you this option...

Well... You can Use Gravity Box and Moto CheckBox apps to remove signal icons and other options for secondary sim when there is no SIM Card Present. However hiding only sim settings options from settings is not easy without hard coding that in a module.
Wait for lollipop it might have Multiuser option and it might have that specific part's restriction option for guest mode.
Note: To restrict settings altogether you can use Applock and Guest Mode.

Android Messages - No preferred SIM selected for sending SMS messages

Does anyone knows where to set the default SIM for sending SMS in HTC U11?
I am trying to use Android Messages but I can't until the default SIM is set.
When searching for solutions, it seems the way to set is via SIM Management in Settings, but our HTC U11 doesn't have this menu in Settings.

I am having the same issue on a new HTC U11+.
I will ask over in that forum as well.
I get the same problems, all the suggestion said that i need go to sim management, in this case is dual network manager.
But in dual network manager, there are only choose sim 1 or sim 2 and preferred data network, none option for sms
Same thing, looks like I can send sms from main app tho. Google messenger has same problem as stated here.
Just go to settings, search for "SIM" there will be 2 options "SIM cards" or "Preferred SIM for" choose either it will take you to SIM cards menu, underneath it will say preferred SIM for Cellular data, Calls, SMS messages, click on SMS messages and choose a SIM you will send SMS from. That is it, you can now go through Google messages setup and use it.

Agree. No option for this on U11+ either.
Having the same issue.
Looks like the performance problems for Google messages have been fixed and now we have this
Ok, I have found the setting in U11 Oreo via create widget > Activity > Setting > Sim card (see attached screenshot)
However, it is not possible to select preferred Sim card which suggest to me HTC have deliberately disabled this feature in favour of their in-app solution.

As far as I know (Android) Google Messages has never been intended for use on dual SIM devices, as Google only produces single SOM devices. This all manufacturers of dual SIM smartphones habe to develop an inbuild solution to go with. No intention by HTC actually.

Yes but not to the App as such but a service it seems. Thus it ain't present on any non Google ROM, such as an OEM ROM.

I have a LG G6 Dual sim (Android 7.0) and I have no problem using Google messenger app. I also have the HTC U11+ (Android 8.0) which has the Google messenger dual sim issue.
From adb run the following:
adb shell settings put global multi_sim_sms 1

Thanks. I confirm this works.
To get current value: adb shell settings get global multi_sim_sms
Setting SIM 1 as preferred SIM: adb shell settings put global multi_sim_sms 1
Note: default value is "null"
I don't understand , so what should we do?
Thanks

Dual sim selector pro

Hi All
Dont know how many of us use dual sim phones on hear, or how you use it.
I like to give different people different numbers.
I had an app dual sim selector pro working on my s9 but it doesn't work on my S10, I was able to dial a number the app would ask me to select which sim I wanted to use and the next time I dialed the number it would automatically use the same sim.
Dose anyone know of a similar app
Thanks in ad
The built in dialer already does this, it will save the number with the sim icon on the left, if you want to change the default just tap the 3 dots and select call with sim 1|2
I'm also interested since "dual sim selector pro" has been discontinued.
The app provided additional benefits such as assigning a default sim to account. So all numbers in my work account use my work sim, and all numbers in my google account use my own sim.

Hi maddow
I found that by downloading the apk and installing it it still works as before
Why was dual Sim selector pro app discontinued? Why does it consume battery? I can't put it to sleep because it won't work when I needed it to decide for me which Sim to use. I also have a corporate Sim and a personal Sim.
FYI, I found that this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steffen_b.multisimselector&hl=nl
Now does about the same as the old "dual sim selector pro"

when texting against each contact it will show what sim it is used with and you change it to another one if needed . change how it behaves when calling in phone app settings
