[Q] "smart notice" widget - AT&T LG G3

This is the stock home screen widget, and i actually like it. However, the location feature, accuweather, sucks big time. No accuracy whatsoever. Always at least one town away from my location, and i have the phone's accuracy mode set to high accuracy (gps and networks). Is there any way to change the weather provider, or recalibrate the accuracy, without rooting the phone? That would be my last resort. Thanks for any help.:crying:

Accuweather is the weather provider. As far as I know there is no way to change the weather provider for the Smart Notice widget.

I went directly to LG, but they just told me to reboot the phone. Thanks.

Weather Tab Issue - Temperature Off?

Assuming the Weather tab uses the AccuWeather server to display the current conditions, does anyone know why my temperature would be off? For the longest time, since I bought the phone and even after I successfully added other cities to the weather tab, I could NOT get my home city to work. Eventually I reinstalled the Weather Customizer for one reason or another and I just recently got it to work. Before it would show a "Partly Sunny" icon and name and say "IDS_ERROR" where it would normally display the temperature. Like I said, I FINALLY got it to work but it seems off. Any ideas why? Is it not AccuWeather that it uses?
I had the same issue. The temp was frequently way off for all of my "custom" cities. As an experiment, I added a fake city and to my surprise it actually displayed a temp reading (which of course was completely bogus). I ended up getting rid of my custom cities. Not sure what the problem was, but then again, I didn't really look much into either. The pre-loaded cities are close enough for me.

Enable Bluetooth from Lock Screen

Hello,
It would be great if I could enable bluetooth from lockscreen so when I am in the car I dont have to pay much attention to the phone, I guess this is not possible, right?
Thanks
I would guess not or it wouldn't be a lock screen.
You'd still have to drag and drop into the circle.
I wouldn't mind a personal notes app' on my startup screen like I had on my WM 2003 SE screen.
That's good for EMT's,etc.
You can try downloading WidgetLocker from the Marketplace.
This will allow you to replace your current lock screen with something a bit more customizable. You can - as the name indicates - put widgets on your screen. So you can put a Bluetooth widget in the top left so you always know where it is.
Or you can go even more lazy and get Llama. It's a location switcher. IE: When I am at work I have the "quiet" profile on were no ringtones ring during the condition set from my hours at work and the location of the phone. Once I leave work and under other conditions with "leaving work" I instructed llama to turn on my BT until I get home and connect to my home wifi.
And that my friend is what I call a free app lol.
Good Ideas I like Sense 3.0 lock screen... so I think I wont change it for now.
About llama, it sounds great, but... what about battery? does it affect battery life much?

[Q] Mod or kernel hack to force GPS to stay on?

I would like to disable the ability to disable the GPS in the phones for use with an "invisible fence" app.
I don't care if the toggle in the notification area goes off or on, but I would like the phone to enable GPS on bootup, and just keep it on regardless.
Any ideas?
Why would you want it to stay on? It is a huge battery hog.

I think I was pretty clear in the original post.
WTF is an invisible fence app??
and any app that requires GPS, will use GPS as needed. OLD Facebook app version for example, as long as it was on your screen, GPS was constantly locking. But it would kill the battery in less than 2 hours from full charge. so the facebook app changed the gps to lock once every so often, while the app is open on screen.
Other apps run a background service to access GPS at a set or random interval. Google Latitude for example. Not on screen, but will check-in or update location when-ever.
As you see the APP needs to have the set permissions, and options selected.
and in the end. your battery is dead in 2 hours with what you *think* you want

This is not correct. (at least on the apex rom I'm running).
If you turn off the GPS in settings (not using the toggle on the notification bar), then fire up google maps, the first thing it does is tell you that not all the options for locating the user are turned on, and to go to settings and turn on GPS.
I recall reading somewhere that Google disabled the ability for apps to turn the GPS on and off. They could query it if it was enabled, but couldn't turn it on if it was off.
If the user can turn it off in settings, then that defeats the purpose. I want the GPS on all the time, regardless of settings.
I don't care about battery life, I have 4 captivates in this house, I am well aware of their capabilities and limitations. And I don't really care if you think it's a good idea or not, all I'm asking is if anybody knows of a way.
there is a difference between switching GPS "on" and having GPS activated or locking signal.
in the android settings or with any toogle app, you can turn GPS on or off.
I have it ON 24/7, I bet you do too.
you turn GPS "on", so apps CAN use/activate it if they try to.
you turn GPS "off" to prevent apps from using it, thus reducing battery drain and increasing security.
having GPS on 24/7 doesn't do crap to battery, it depends on the apps, and how they are programmed to use GPS, and if they were programmed to work like you want, they would work like I SAID.
there have been apps that used GPS like you suggested. THEY GOT FIXED. you really dont understand how fast it drains the battery.
and i dont mean to offend, but you also dont understand how the apps interact with the GPS.

Weather never auto updates

I know there is a thread related to this, but I never saw a solution.
My Gear S2 stock Weather app never auto-updates. Not even when I open the app. In order to update the current conditions in my city, I have to tap on the city, then scroll all the way to the bottom to the refresh button.
In the Samsung Gear app on my Galaxy S4, I have gone into the Settings>Weather settings, and I have selected to Auto Refresh every 6 hours. I have Use Current Location turned off (maybe that's my problem?).
Anyone have ideas?
Almost same issue with my Gear S.
First : location must be ON
Second : weather update only when phone screen is on. So if you use some time your phone weather is updated, otherwise weather can stay 10H without update if you do not use your phone

How to make the gps icon blinking when is searching for satellites?

When I open an app that requires positioning, I need to know if my position is determined with wifi/cellular tower or with gps satellites. On my previous phones I knew it because when the gps fix was not made yet, the icon blinked. Now on the sg7 the icon is always steady.
I have root and xposed... I have found an exposed module that could do this but it's only for kitkat.
Any suggestion?

You should have not understood my question (maybe because of my poor english). I don't want to disable cellular towers/wifi positioning. I only want to know, at a given moment, if my position is determined with cellular towers/wifi or with gps.
For example, if I open google maps:
1) The gps icon is blinking: this means that my position is determined with cellular towers/wifi
2) The gps icon stop blinking: this means that the phone got a gps fix, so my position is determined with gps
This is the normal behavior for 99% of the phones. For some reason in the galaxy S7 the gps icon stays steady so it's impossible for me to know when the phone get a gps fix.
