I know there is a thread related to this, but I never saw a solution.
My Gear S2 stock Weather app never auto-updates. Not even when I open the app. In order to update the current conditions in my city, I have to tap on the city, then scroll all the way to the bottom to the refresh button.
In the Samsung Gear app on my Galaxy S4, I have gone into the Settings>Weather settings, and I have selected to Auto Refresh every 6 hours. I have Use Current Location turned off (maybe that's my problem?).
Anyone have ideas?
Almost same issue with my Gear S.
First : location must be ON
Second : weather update only when phone screen is on. So if you use some time your phone weather is updated, otherwise weather can stay 10H without update if you do not use your phone

So after purchasing the Gear S3 Frontier LTE version and getting it all set up on my phone through the gear manager I noticed that my phone battery has drained a lot and that the location icon in the top status bar has been on all day.
I went into Settings -> Battery and saw the app "com.samsung.android.gearoplugin" has used up more battery than my screen has by over 10% which was previously my battery hog.
I also looked in Settings -> Location and saw that Gear S Plugin was listed as high usage. I disabled location for the Gear S Plugin and the location icon has gone away but decided to attempt to find my phone and now I cannot find it's GPS location anymore which is expected but a bummer because that was a neat feature.
Anyways, is there a setting that I have enabled causing this or will I have to live with not having the ability to find my phone from my watch via GPS due to the battery drain?
I did attempt to navigate the settings from my phone, the watch, and the gear app itself and was not able to find a solution other than what I have done with the permissions.
Thanks for the replies and help by the way.
I used this feature on Gear S and i used it on Gear S3 until the last update. Now it seems to be missing or i am blind.
To be exact - when you start an app, ie. timer, it displays the count down. Screen goes off (in my case displays AOD watchface), then you raise your watch ant it was back to timer app, now it just displays a watch and you have to fiddle with it to go to the recent apps. It drives me crazy. Am i missing something or it has been fu**ed by the last update?
Are you using a Samsung phone or another phone? I read issues like this before with users who have the watch paired with another phone that's not a Samsung. I have an S7 edge and my timer stays on if I have it running and leave it there.
S7 Edge....
The app stays fir maybe 30 seconds after the screen goes into AOD. Then disappears....
But before last update it was staying up until i swiped down from the top on it....
After reboiting both devices timer stays... But 3rd party app no...
With my HTC 10 it doesn`t go unfortunately.
I would like to use it with the MP3 player.
It`s really a s....
I have an Indian model S8+ (SM-G955FD) and I don't have any lockscreen protection except for the basic "swipe to unlock". Also, my location setting is set to High Accuracy.
Now what I have noticed is that every time I wake up the phone and unlock it to homescreen, it requests my GPS location. I can see the location icon right next to Bluetooth icon (which is always on in my case) and the icon stays there as long as it takes to get a GPS lock (which is usually under 5 seconds).
I am wondering if this is a common behaviour or whether it is due to some app or setting I use.
Nope. I don't have that. And mine is set to high accuracy also. Must be some setting.

Probably some app checking the location upon the screen turning on.
Not with mine neither.
Check to make sure you have location history turned off, maybe?

There could be a few reasons. As someone said, possibly an app, that is being put to sleep with the power manager in these, and waking up the phone wakes it back up and it checks. This is probably the reason to be honest. Check location after it happens to see what apps are polling location
Hi all,
Since last week i bought the gear sport. It's a nice watch and keeps good track.
There is only one thing i find strange is that when i start
t an activity, after some seconds it goes back to the default clock. I have to press an button or wind the gear to show the statistics.
How can I make sure the activity is shown instead of the clock? I already set the display to be on, and the timeout to 5 minutes.
Help would be appreciated
I got a question. On my old Gear S3 when i enabled auto workout detection and started running, after 10 minutes my watch said "Keep it up!" And i could track how long i was running and stuff. Is there a way to have this on my Watch 4? Cause it does auto track my workouts but i cannot track em trough my watch and it does not pop up after running for 30minuted and stuff while i'm exercising. Thanks for the help!
Nobody?
I was using this option long time ago. If I remember well you can switch on Auto detect Activities in Settings - Samsung Health . Watch detects only walking and running, after ~10 minutes. Tracking screen should pop up or there will be small Activiti icon at screen bottom. Just touch it to see full tracking.
