Hi to everyone, I've got some (stupid) questions, I've googoled but I can't come up with them. I'm hoping this is the right section to post this.
I've got a LgG3 with lollipop, I want to root it, made some changes and unroot it.
Let's talk about 2 different cases:
After get the phone rooted:
-if a make changes in system's settings as changing dns or set a different clock for processor, will these changes be still effective after unrooting my phone?
-if I move an app that works without root, as Es File Explorer, an one app that works with root as Titanium Backup, in /system, and than unroot, will these apps keep working with a root privilege?
If, after unroot my phone, it softbrick or I have to sent it to assistance for any problem, will the assistance notice that some apps are system app even if they shouldn't and that some system app as Chrome are deleted, and, for this, they want accept my warranty?

I just installed titanium backup to backup apps and settings.
So far, all it has done is ask me for root access. About 400 times. It's asking for root permissions for the same package, UID, everything, and it's rendered the app useless.
Anyone know whats going on?
Obvious question but do you have root access?
Also, click on the problems button at the bottom to install busybox.
I have root access and installing that doesn't help. Not what i expected from an app everyone says is brilliant. Are there any alternatives to TB?

Are you rooted with busy box? Have you clicked on the problems tab

Yeah, installed the version of busybox it came with. Still no good, it's making me have to reboot my phone every time i even open the app. I've reinstalled busybox, TB and superuser, still no good.
I'm looking into rooting my phone solely for setcpu app and I haven't been able to find anywhere if when you unroot does that remove apps and restore to an old backup or simply change the permissions so you don't have access to the root anymore?
Un-rooting alone would not remove apps, but in the act of flashing back to a stock Rom u would usually clear cache and wipe (apps disappear). When rooted you can use "titanium back up" (requires root) to back up all ur apps and settings when flashing a new Rom. The paid version is worth the price for the batch restore alone.

ok so as long as i keep the stock rom and only root for set cpu and maybe wireless tether i wont need to restore to a backup?
Even if you keep Setcpu once you lose root it will only run in read only mode and therefore you won't be able to over/under clock thus making the app virtually useless.

Okay, so I have gone through Hansoon2000 (ty btw) All in One kit for T-Mobile Amaze and did steps 1 - 5 and then flashed a recovery, but I don't know where to go now. I would like to start deleting stock apps that I don't want and are taking up space. Can someone give me a few tips on what to do next? I am assuming I need to be in SU mode or something like that.

If you have Superuser installed, go ahead and download Titanium Backup. Whenever you enter a root app, a SU prompt will appear asking if you want to grant Superuser Permissions.
Its not really SU mode, apps just want the ability to do Super things.
Titanium Backup will allow you to uninstall apps, but when deleting system apps you have to be careful not to do something stupid, like uninstall the settings app. Titanium backup actually does a lot more, you can backup/restore apps and their data, freeze apps (pro only), and more backing up. Its the one app you absolutely need on a rooted device.

How can I root my HTC one m8 but still have it be the same as when I bought it. For example, I still want to receive updates and I want everything to work the same but I'll be rooted . Basically I just want to remove the bloatware and install cool roms. I don't want anything else to change. Is this possible?
I like everything about this phone so I dont want to change anything
You can't really root and still accept otas. Verizon is without a doubt after the root methods so an OTA will probably break root. You also won't be accepting OTAs when you're on a custom ROM. You can either just root with weak sauce or s off and unlock with fire water.

you can most def root (very easy Process) and remove the bloatware and keep everything else stock. while you cant update ota, just keep checking on here, somebody will post an updated bloatfree rom that runs as close to stock as possible. The best of both worlds my friend.

You can do what I did...First I downloaded WeakSauce.apk directly to my phone, then downloaded SuperSU from the play store. Then I downloaded Titanium Backup and used it deleted the bloatware off of my phone..very easy.

If you are rooted but haven't changed the contents of \system in any way (i.e. NOT gotten rid of any apps), AND aren't running a custom recovery, the OTA's should take. The OTA's appear to look at the system directory to see if there are any modifications and fail the OTA flash if there are. So, if you are essentially stock everything except for root access, you should be okay.
That having been said, I didn't see anyone post about a successful OTA update after rooting; and most folks once they're rooted just can't help get a custom recovery (how else can you Nandroid?) or make the slightest tweak(s) to the system.
As someone said above, usually when there's an OTA, the devs have put it out as a flashable mod within 24 hours; and as someone ELSE said above, best NOT to take the OTA's because they are notorious for breaking root.
Yeah, OTA's are a nice touch, and that's how I run my Nexus 7, but on my phone they're a pain in the neck --- I want things my way, and I'm not willing to give that up.

I tried this but after deleting my apps they just returned after restarting my phone. Please help me! I am rooted with weaksauce

Your current setup does not permit writing to the \system partition. That's fine. (And that's especially good if you really are determined to take OTA updates and keep it pure stock but rooted.) To "get rid" of the bloatware, or any other system app you don't want to see you can do two things: (1) hide the app in the app drawer (that's done from the menu in the app drawer). And (2) Using app manager from settings, navigate to "all" apps, work your way down the list of apps and each one you want to disable: (a) turn off notifications; and then (b) press "disable." I think one or two just can't be disabled, e.g. Visual Voice Mail, but for the most part, you'll be able to make the bloat seem to "disappear" and you won't have affected your system partition, plus, they'll still be gone when you reboot.

Ive recently rooted my phone using v root (the chinese version). I needed to root the phone to remove some unwanted firmware, after i amended the firmware i unrooted the phone which deleted the chinse superuser. I then unistalled the apps the chinese superuser left, i also found some sort of files left by the rooting app which i deleted (these apps could not be opended by the phone). I ve run AVG which confirms my phone is not under threat but wondered if the rooting app will have left anything unwanted.

Rooting allows unrestricted access to applications and there is a chance that some kind of background script and/or other malicious app might be installed in the background. One of the common ways to check the apps pushed/installed is to use application like root explorer and check the date stamps of files in /system. Files with unusual date stamps might be the ones modified.
It's better if you restore your phone to stock firmware and root again. Try these methods to root your phone

Unless there is a specific method used on ALL of your system files ,your system dates will remain unchanged. I don't think someone will resort to that method imo.
But you have a point. Rooting might modify some important system files.
Unrooting is not a complete solution . Flashing back to a stock ROM/firmware is the complete solution. After unrooting ,you need to change read only status to read write which can only be done if you are rooted. Or via running a shell exploit. It's a catch 22 situation.
Thats why I would recommend flashing Stock Firmware if possible !
