[Q] Wrong battery estimation? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot understand why the phone should be on battery only 5 hours when after 18 hours has still 44% of battery? Any explanation?
Thanks

I can't go further than 10 hkurs of battery

Well I can't even go a day at work. Only mobile data on, brightness at auto. 3 hours of SOT and dead.

The estimation assumes that the screen will stay on at its current brightness setting until the battery runs out. Clearly whoever designed this didn't think it through too clearly.
The estimate on LG phones (G2, G3) doesn't behave this way, at least not on Kit Kat. No idea why Samsung implemented it this way on the S6.

No ActiveDisplay + Xposed-MobileRadioBugFix + No Adaptive Brightness = Immortal Moto

I'm getting FANTASTIC battery life! I'm at 63% right now, after close to 12 hours of total time (with 1.5 hours SOT), with an estimated 20 hours left. Standby time is the key here, when I am not using the Moto...the battery just stops in time. It's wild.
I will have to say with the following...
Active Display Disabled < Not necessary
Adaptive Brightness Disabled < around 10% to 15% brightness is honestly totally fine for outdoor use. It's crazy. I use 1% to 5% at night.
Xposed Module: MobileRadioBugFix < Most important!
My Moto X is now immortal.
GSam Battery Monitor is showing on average 2.0% to 3.0% loss per hour when I am using the phone.
While SOT does slowly kill it, standby time is just crazy now. When I lock the screen, it's almost like the battery gets frozen in time.
For anyone who is struggling to get through a day, try these stuff out!
Men, I don't need to fool with it. 20 hours a day before plugging it in is fine for my needs.
Stock out of the box after a week of power cycles.

Oh but she can do so much more. I'm impressed, 3,000mah with 1440p had me worried...but Motorola has buckled the F down and did a great job!
Agreed Moto did a good job with the battery.

I usually get 6+ hours of SOT

This is terrifying. Coming from a oneplus one where I was used to getting 6 hours sot over 18 hours. I switched to a oneplus 2 and have only been getting 3 hours sot over the course of a day, thinking that's terrible. Sounds like the Moto x Pure isn't for me, which is a shame because I really do love the Moto features and way it feels in the hand.
dam i didnt wana root but xposed is great so far my battery is lasting me day, i will be on my 3rd power cycle today lets see how it goes....

You know that module doesn't actually cause a change in battery life? It simple adjusts the calculation of battery drain due to mobile radio. It will not, in any way, cause your battery to last longer.

I was told the Radio gets stuck on in LP, and that is a huge waste of battery. Either way...I don't know what to tell you but the phone is just immortal now lol
I couldn't imagine looking at my phone for 6 hours in a day!!! It seems a little much. I would respect the ability for my phone to stay on that much but I can't see the necessity.

The tabulation of what was being measured as battery use got stuck counting battery use as being caused by the mobile radio. this module just affects how battery stats are counted.
We shouldn't have to root to get great battery life. Just disable Moto Display, keep brightness low, and control when apps like Facebook sync. Android M will definitely bring improvements.
Not to mention, 6+ hours SOT is ridiculous. Put down your damn phone.

With my OPO and Kitkat at my last job I used to pull 7 to 8 hours of SOT a time.
Not ridiculous at all... if you send roughly 500 texts a day, watch a lot of youtube, play a lot of music and browse the web a lot.
Also, rooting = Taking control of your device.
If you want the best, don't be lazy, take it into your own hands.

And ruin the non-replaceable battery? No thanks. Plus I don't want to be tethered to a wall, that's dumb. It's 2015, not 2000
The entire process of unlocking, throwing recovery+flashing super su takes less than 10 minutes. Did the entire thing on the can.
+ Greenify is the best battery saver ever. I'll never not root because of that.
Having said that. the DOZE feature in Android M is pretty slick. My Nexus 6 went from 2h SOT to 4.5 SOT on the last developer preview So hey, maybe that'll make everyone happier

Honor 6x Sleep takes 1% battery

Hello,
I am the new owner of a Honor 6x and the phone is absolutely great but i cannot have a decent sleep. It loses minimum 1% per hour.
This night, from midnight to 6AM, i've went from 54% to 48%, that sounds enormous...
Power saving mode is enable.
Phone has already been resetted.
I also updated last night to nougat.
I am in 3G since 4G is knowing to consume a lot, had this also on my previous phone.
Compsumption Level are Android system 20.85%
Android OS 12.76
Hardware side are Screen 21% and PHone Idle 7%
If i uses the 6x continuesly, i get easily 6SOT i don't know how to avoid loosing so much during sleep.
Thx, i am now performing a new factory reset for Nougat.
Wifi off when screen off is applied
Mobile network have been remained on but i do now change them in 2G.
I close all apps manually before closing screen.
I've tested and lost 1% in one hour with NO data and NO wifi..., the screen has been just very shortly checked 4 times...
I will compare after the reset.
Thanks.
By default, EMUI will kill a lot of background apps during sleep, so you shouldn't experience much battery drain. A factory reset may help you.

This is all because of the Nougat update.
Nougat update is draining battery faster than MM version.
Moreover officially Nougat has not been released for Honor 6X still.
Try to downgrade to MM for better battery.

Well u sound true , OP plz try to enable the option to close the apps automatically when screen off. Wil save much juice
Thanks, i saw everywhere else that closing apps in the background sound a good idea but is in fact asking more juice to the system.
I don't know what to think anymore.
i've did 6h14 SOT with about 55 minutes of gaming, brightness between 15-30 depending if outside or inside.
It seems that making full charging cycles (i've had the phone only since 3 days now ) is helping a bit.
Still, i am very far from getting 10 hours as i have seen in these forums

Do the math. Additional 340 only. 8 hrs, maybe even and a half. You can only do that if you take away the core Android processes, take away cell radio, take away touch screen inputs, and there you go. With 3340mAh you might even reach 24 hrs of display time. I don't care if you don't believe me.

Battery life issue?

My pixel has been having inconsistent battery life at 100% after charging it will sometimes say 19 hours left then sometimes at 100% it will say 9 hours. Is anyone else having this is with the pixel? Is there something I can do to help my battery life I did a factory reset after the Oreo update and have most features turned off. I've had the phone for about a week now with the 100% battery life being drastically different with each charge. I don't have FB mostly still stock apps aside from a game I play. Thanks in advance for any help.
@subvapor It all depends on how you use your phone. This sounds normal and not an issue to me. The estimated battery life it gives you is just that; an estimate. Try this: charge to 100% and use your phone normally until it gets down to around 10% or so. Then check your screen on time in battery settings. I would say 4 to 6 hours is pretty average when it comes to the pixels.

Thanks for the help I get around 3 and a half hours to 6 hours of screen on time. So I guess I'm getting good battery life out of it. I'm just trying to make sure everything is good on it as I got it as refurbished on Amazon with a 90 day warranty. Loving the phone so far though!

Yep that sounds about right. If you take it off the charger and then immediately start using a battery draining app that will really screw up the estimation too.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy M30s before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
12 -13 hrs easily
Getting 9 to 10 hours with 2 day usage. Will certainly go above 10 hours if used continuously in a single day.
12-13 hrs average easily!!
With dark mode you can easily go 15-17 hrs
I don't know why my device having multiple issues such as call muting, Vodafone volte not working also getting only 6 hours of SOS with 15 to 18 hours of battery backup... Faulty device?
Sometimes I am getting message such as CPU usage is high please restart your device and not getting the speed over 4G at all...
I dont see any standby drain. When I keep data on (locaion, wifi and bluetooth off) in the night it drained only 2-3 % battery. with data off/location/wifi/bluetooth off it was 100% in the morning.
But I have a different issue, When I am using the phone, I see a drain now which was not there initially. Android system is draining most of the power. I usually used to get 9+ hrs SOT with 2 days usage. but now Both have dropped below to 1&1/2 day and around 8 hours SOT. Tried all the things found on net, but it dint helped.
Help?

Question Battery draining too fast.

I had this phone for about a week now. Got used to all the features. Did all the things needed to calm the draining issue. But no budge. I've drained from 85% protection battery on to 65% upon waking up. So much faster drain from my old s20 ultra. I'm sure there will be an update. The more we talk. We all should comment on Instagram comment section.

And do you think that doing a hard reset and setting it up as new can improve the battery?
I lost 5 or 6% overnight, and after last week's update that's been reduced to 3%
I have poor reception at work and even there I have way less drain now, so I'm a happy camper.
Sounds like some app(s) that are draining too much battery imo.

You should check which apps comsume battery too much, then decide what to do next.
When i first started i weren't happy at all with the battery drain. It barely used to last with 5hrs or so of screen on time! (Light usage too)
After the first 4 days it got better. I used an app called Alliance Shield X, which i believe helped me a lot. Now I'm happy with my battery drain.
Edit: Also the Galaxy Max Hz App.

Alliance Shield X helps to disable packages, create firewall, adblock, etc...
Galaxy Max Hz allows you to adjust screen refresh rates (highs and lows), and a few other settings like lowest hz on screen off/Aod refresh rate
Instander is just some 3rd party Instagram with additional features, lol. I don't use it a lot so i can't say for certain, but looking at the stats, it seems to be a decent drain
