I like keeping my phone on Adaptive Display most of the time but prefer to watch videos in the Amoled Photo screen mode. Does anyone know if an app like tasker will allow you to set up a rule so that when you open a video app like MX Player, the phone will automatically switch to Amoled Photo mode, then when you exit out, it will revert back to Adaptive Display? If so, can you show me how? I don't mind paying for the app but I'd like to know if its possible before I do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Would it be possible to modify the Youtube app to where either, when a video begins playing (preferably), or, when the application is opened, the screen will be turned to 100% brightness, or maybe even a custom level. I noticed that when you open the camera it sets the screen to the maximum brightness level, that might be a start, but then again I don't know what's really involved.

Download Tasker from the market. It'll allow you to set up an event to do just this...
After watching a bunch of tutorial videos about Tasker, I bought the app. But unfortunately I'm finding out that there's things I wanted to do that I cant. I think it has something to do with Active Notifications. For instance, I created a profile to skip to the next song (Play Music) when a variable is true (car mode) by shaking the device. The profile works great when the screen is on, but doesn't seem to work once the screen shuts off, like active notifications are blocking it or something. I was kinda hoping that I'd have a little more control, but I think that's because of the app itself and not the device. Anyone have any input or tips from experience?
In settings to can turn on gestures while the screen is off. And you made a wonderful purchase by the way. Tasker is amazing

hi folks,
I just got an n8010 and I like it alot. only thing thats bothering me is the display brightness during video playback. for normal use its fine and I set it to about 4o%, but for video playback even when set max brightness its still not bright enough. have tried all the usual players. is there a video player that can increase brightness? or a different rom that gives higher maximum brightess? I also have an acer aspire one 725 netbook, and its screen brightness is much better for video playback.
thanks,
gary.
I have the same issue.

its weird. the tablet is capable of being uber bright, yet for video not bright enough. its a shme, its the only thing I dont like about this tablet. thinking of trying a tf700t instead.
Have you made sure that power saving mode is off? It limits screen brightness, and I would guess it tries to do this especially if you are doing something that keeps the screen on for a long time, like watching a video. Also, you should check under the display settings, since there is a setting that tries to optimize the colors for different use cases. It's called screen mode. play with those settings a bit and see if your experience improves any. Finally, make sure auto brightness is off, and then you can manually put the brightness all the way up using the slider in the status bar.
Hope I helped you.
Tried all the options. It has an outdoor mode which is brighter but seems to really wash out the color. Max brightness is a good start as auto bright is never enough to watch something in thus tablet. I'm hoping to find a way to increase the brightness even more tho.

Try using MX Player and slide your finger up at the left edge of the screen while playing. This player's screen brightness is independent to system brightness, and on my device its max brightness seems even brighter.
Hello, new user here, I got a Watch 2 Sport after a few years with a LG G Watch R.
I was surprised to see that the screen seems to have 4 modes, instead of the canonical 2 modes (ambient mode and interactive mode): after a few seconds of inactivity in interactive mode, for a second the screen dims while still in interactive mode, then transitions to ambient mode, while still being dimmed. When woken up again, it "undims" itself while still in ambient mode for a second, then transitions into interactive mode. Picture explanation: https://i.imgur.com/0mUcIyb.jpg
The main problem I have with this is that the "dimmed ambient mode" is really dim, and basically makes the ambient mode useless except in very dark environments... Does anyone know of a way to disable the dimming or, at least, set the brightness level of this dimmed mode? It seems to be unaffected by the screen brightness settings...
I use a custom watch face, so even if the solution involves changing some code in the watch face it would still be very welcome; however, I have not found any mention of this "feature" in the android wear documentation...

which custom face app do you use? i've used watchmaker, but that doesn't seem to dim - just pauses the second hand. thus, I'm stuck using the stock watch faces, as the dimmed look is classier/more practical, but the regular faces are not very good.
I don't use anything like watchmaker, I use a watch face that I developed from scratch in Android Studio... By the way, I tried installing Watchmaker and I tried one of the free watch faces, and it does, indeed, dim (https://i.imgur.com/q3pGRWi.jpg), so I'm not sure what you mean.

i'll send some screenshots later this week. but I'd like the watchmaker face to dim like stock.

so yes, technically, you are correct - it does dim. I guess I meant for it to transition to ambient mode like stock. does the one that you developed to that? i've been looking for a watch face like stock, but with a more legible calendar widget.
Been trying out then photo pro app. Noticed that when I'm in the app the screen goes really dark to the state where I had to adjust the phone's display brightness as I can't see what I'm capturing instead of bringing the brightness up automatically when capturing pictures. My old phone automatically brings the brightness up when the camera app was launched.
Anyone else having this issue as well?
