Hi guys & gals!
Quickly: I want to flash the official 5.1 image with TWRP. The reason is that my USB port doesn't work anymore (I'm charging with QI) so I'm not able to adb / fastboot.
Is it possible and if so how do I do it? I tried to "unzip" the tgz > tar until I had a zip with the official image available on google's page but TWRP kept telling something along "this image is not valid".
FYI I'm currently on cyanogenmod 12.
Thanks in advance!
You can't flash the factory image in twrp. There should be a flashable zip of stock 5.1 floating around here that you can flash in twrp though.

You can only flash boot and recovery img's in twrp. Just download a stock flashable zip

Hi folks! It has been a while since I have been on this forum; and I have a question about how to update from 4.1.2. to 4.2.2.
The process is not quite clear to me. Can I just download the Asus Firmware and flash through existing TWRP recovery (4.1.2 version)? Do I have to flash a kernel and new recovery using fastboot first? I see some step-by-step guides but also a view warnings. It is a littlebit vague to me what to do.Can anyone guide me through the process please?
I am on Hydro 7 but looking to update preferably to another custom 4.2.2. base rom. Tips are welcome
Best way is to download the firmware from asus website extract it (theres a zip inside the zip) and flash it with twrp, this will get rid of twrp so after the first boot find the approprate version of twrp and reflash it with fastboot, from there you can flash custom roms/ kernels at will
goodluck
I'm not sure if twrp will work. My upgrade path was to use fastboot the official zip from the Asus website, then fastboot twrp. Be careful which version of twrp you fastboot because it will cause a brick. I think twrp-2.5-4.2 should work for the US version for the official blob from the Asus website. For the WW version of the blob I used twrp version 2.4-4.2 successfully. Good luck!

Hi
I'm also still running 4.1.1 on my TF300TG (WW-version).
The bootloader is unlocked with the asus-tool, cwm-recovery (CWM-based recovery v6.0.1.3) flashed with fastboot and the system is rooted with supersu.
Now i want to update to 4.2.1 but it won't work. neither with the SOP for manual update nor from cwm-recovery.
From what i found it should work like this:
- download the 4.2.1 (10.6.2.6) rom file from the asus website
- extract the zip (once)
- open the second zip and open \META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script
- delete everything except "assert(package_extract_file("blob", "/tmp/blob"), write_raw_image("/tmp/blob", "staging"),delete("/tmp/blob"));
set_progress(1.000000);"
- save file and save the zip
- put zip on sdcard and install from cwm-recovery
can someone tell me, if this is correct? or if i should only flash the blob with fastboot?
any help is appreciated!
thx!

That means its modified. You can only accept OTA if your /system is unchanged
Although OTA is pointless if rooted anyway
Just download the full rooted stock ROM in android development and flash it without wipe from recovery.
It's actually fewer steps anyway.
OTA = revert system changes and/or kernel, reboot into recovery, flash the OTA , boot to bootloader, connect to pc, fastboot flash recovery, reboot into recovery, flash supersu.
Rooted stock = reboot into recovery, flash the ROM.
No brainer really. Flashing an OTA if rooted is a fool's errand.
I want to upgrade my G3 to the latest firmware but can't because I have TWRP installed instead of the stock recovery image. I should have backed this up using flashify before, but I forgot. If anyone could provide the proper .img I would be very grateful.
Hello,
About a month ago I rooted my Nexus 5 (Android v.5.0.1) and installed ElementalX kernel (V2.07).
As of today I can now download & install the Android 5.1 system update. My question is, can I install it safely considering that I have a custom kernel installed? If not, what do I have to do?
Thank you

No, it'll error on the update. I assume you have custom recovery installed to have installed elementalx? So just flash a 5.1 zip followed by elementalx 2.11

download new factory images
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
boot into custom recovery
then flash SuperSU/other stuff if desired
Thank you for your help!
Hey, my nexus 7 only boots in recovery mode to CWM, it has no ROM installed on it because I was trying to install a ROM from CWM and didn't back up my initial one (I'm a dingus, I know). Because the CWM version I have is 6.0.1.9., it won't install KitKat roms, since 6.0.4 or higher is needed.
How do I update my CWM from within recovery mode? I can sideload .zip files, but they give status 7 errors. Can I just sideload the CWM .img and have it work? Or do I need a different approach?
I am working with a Mac os X Yosemite and a Nexus 7 2012 WiFi.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. First, I'd highly recommend you use twrp instead of cwm. There is very little support for cwm. Google nexus 7 teamwin. Flash the.img file in fastboot. Then boot into twrp, recovery, and flash your rom.
