[Q] How to disable the clock on the status ONLY when on home screen? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Basically, like the title says - i want to disable my clock when I'm on my home screen since i have a widget doing the same thing for me.
However, i don't want it gone down the status bar on every screen (when I'm in an app or something) as i would like to see the time then.
Any way to achieve this?

This can be done at least with Nova Launcher Prime or with Google Now Launcher + Xposed GEL Settings. Not sure if there's any other way and both options need root.

What version are you using? I think they removed it at some point and then added it again.
I'm running the #materinova.27 beta version and the option is available

[Q/REQUEST] Camera Shortcut App

Is there a camera shortcut or an app that when I click it, it will prompt me to take a photo with the app of my choice (default camera, camera zoom, instagram, etc.)?
Just make a folder on your home screen with camera, instagram etc? Apex also allows you to make a shortcut to a specific screen within the app, it's called activities.

Thanks, but I don't want to do a folder though, hence why I asked about a shortcut. And that Apex thing is nothing at all like what I want.

edit build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
save and reboot. Make sure you have an alternate means of navigation before you do this though
use LMT
Full screen from Play store to navigate, build prop command from above to remove nav bar.

I actually just made a video tutorial on YouTube and posted a guide in the general section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513910
What I did is edit the build.prop file and use an app called Button Savior to navigate. Works pretty good to be honest!

Yeah, I do know that and I mentioned that in my video. As you said, for temporary use it does the job!
Other than that, many apps that work on my Nexus 4 does not work on Nexus 5 as they probably aren't updated to work on the new device yet.
If I find something, I will definitely update my thread with new solutions!

Google have blocked access to it in 4.4 so the built-in app is no longer available.
Coming from CM10.2 I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my N5, but alas it's not so .

I believe they blocked the APIs used by the permissions editor which is why it crashes - but I'm struggling to find the reference I read that had this info.......
afaik they removed it completely. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47098228&postcount=2
One of the best features ever introduced to android and they remove it. Might even downgrade my N7 because of this.

I downgraded my N4 back to 4.3. Disabling app ops is terrible. Even apple has this feature: iOS alerts you if any app wants to access your contacts, or your photos, or your camera, and you have a choice to allow or not. Android 4.3 does not alert you, but at least you have the option to dig into the App Ops and revoke access to certain things. 4.4 is the first time an android upgrade dissapointed me (they destroyed the alarm app, the keyboard, the wifi indicator's activity/internet access, and App Ops).
App ops was never an official feature, so they technically didn't remove anything.

So? It's still a feature they included, with easy access, and then took away even though it was nothing but effective for the users...

I'm with you on the users defending Google like the can do no wrong, but definitely disagree about the YouTube g+ integration... They needed to clean YouTube up, and now I can see friend's comments on videos more easily and only view the comments and responses of certain people... That was a good idea..
I think Google is completely wrong by blocking this app ops function, if that's what happened here...

Try ART

First thing I did after signing in was switch to ART. If your going to do the same, I'd recommend you do it before downloading your apps. It has to optimize all apps on the device and I did it without downloading a single app. 324 apps. Took a while.

Not stupid at all bud. Unlock developer settings by going to "about phone" in settings, double tap "build number" 7 times until you see the toast msg that says "you are now a developer". Back out, go to the newly available " developer settings " and 3rd (4th if you count the first non selectable line) option which says "select runtime system" and change it to "ART". It will say Dalvik until you've changed it to ART. Choosing it will reboot your device and take a few minutes while sets up your apps for ART. It is possible that if could be incompatible with some apps but since it first released with 4.4, I haven't heard of this.
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I think this sped up the start up time of the camera, which is still kinda slow. I just hope I don't have issues with some apps as I've heard of others that had to completely reset their phone to stop some apps from crashing even after returning to Dalvik and reinstalling the app...

Yeah, not too bad. It looks as if they started to redesign it but only got as far as settings and quick settings lol. With Nova and Flatro icons, it looks as though it's how it was supposed to be done. One of things that was always first on my list after rooting or flashing was changing the appearance of the status bar/quick settings. I like them now so with Nova, I really like the appearance. IMO.

I don't wanna open a thread for this so I'll try it here, I can't remember the "official" name, but "quick glance"? Something like that. When device is asleep, you wave over it and it displays the time and notifications. The one " motion gesture " I use and I can't find it. Hope they didn't ax it.
Anyone know how to enable it? Can't find it in the gestures section... Nor can I find lock screen widgets.

I know people are all excited to try anything different, but ART on this device just isn't a good experience (at least on a stock device). I really wouldn't recommend switching, as you are unlikely to be pleased.
