I recently switched back to android from iOS. I bought the Samsung galaxy tab S 10.1" model SM-T800. Android version 5.0.2 kernel version 3.4.39-4403645.
First off, I downloaded a root from unlockr.com, everything went smooth but i found that there was a more recent ODIN program out there 3.1 versus the 1.85 that i had used. I then tried to download the same root with the updated ODIN but when I used root checker it said it had been unsuccesful. I haven't used any roots since 2010 so I'm a little rusty on this programming and modifying aspect of technology.
The root i used was CF_AutoRoot_Port_T800_BeansTown106.tar.md5
So my first major question is, Can you root over an existing root?
And if so, would this guide be the one I need? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/rom-blisspop-team-bliss-t2987234

Everything for your device can be found within the Tab device section:
Galaxy Tab S
You'd normally find a recovery in the development sub-forums.

Did you even look? A search or glance in development would have showed you.
Plus, wrong section.

Thank you so much for your most helpful response. Seeing as I had indeed searched several time using different search strategies and didn't find the answer I am most thankful for your able assistance.
As for being in the wrong section, being new here I obviously am not as adept as you in navigating this forum. Once again I must thank you for your enlightenment. You clearly are a paramount of good will and helpfulness.

Thank you for your help. I will check these out. It is a great tablet as is my original Tab 10.1. Between them I use my labtop a heck of a lot less.
Unfortunately, the first link will not allow me to download the file which is apparently what I am looking for and from the second link I can't seem to find the device or file I need. Thanks again though because I now have a better idea of what to search for.

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
I did not make my request clear, sorry. What I am looking for is the stock 4.0.4 upgrade with stock recovery and root injected into the upgrade.
I am not looking for custom ROMs or custom recovery. Thanks for your patience.

I think this is the closest you will get to stock, rooted.
I use it and love it!

Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am only interested in a completely stock ROM with stock recovery and root. Fortunately this is available for my GS3 so I can wait for it to be done by someone for my Tab 10 and Tab2 7.
Thanks again for the response.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842311 will work on a 3113
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841060 and this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798283 or this.
Most ROMs by Kidney Poker should be what you require. Post in his threads for any assistance you need.
They do work as i have a 3113 and have used his ROMs
If all these solutions did not work a suggestion to buy mobile odin pro from google play and download the firmware you like that fits your device from www.samfirmware.com then put this firmware in your phone and flash it with mobile odin pro with ever root checked in setting it will inject root to the stock firmware for you

Hi,
to install CWM Recovery and root the tab, you can follow these instructions (point A) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722745
Then if you want to install a custom rom, follow these instruction (this is for CyanogenMod 10.1 but I think it is the same way to install other roms) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052290

Are you purchasing new ? Or are getting this second hand ? The only reason I ask is because 4.2.1 is not the "stock" software at this time.
Mine came stock with 4.0.4, and I have read that they are now shipping with 4.1.1 installed
The only 4.2.1 version currently out is the custom CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM.
May just be a typo on your original post - but figured I would ask just in case

yep your right its 4.1.many thanks for all your imput everyone very greatfull
Change the title of your thread to reflect your question. This will help others in your situation to quickly find and learn from your post, in turn hopefully preventing more 'how do I root/flash' threads.
Hello, i am apologizing if i missed the right thread for this but i have a question. I am using Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Rooted with clockwork recovery mode ver 6.0.5.0 flashed with Odin. I wanted to try to update the version of the recovery so i downloaded rom manager but the app says that my device isnt supported via CWM. How is this possible and what is the way for me to check if I am using the latest version of CWM on my device, because i am using cyanogenmod and today came the long waited update to 5.0 Lollipo and the CM team posted that we need to have the latest recovery in order to flash the new OS but i couldnt find out if mine is the latest and why rom manager says my phone isnt supported.
Hi,
Rom manager is known to cause many issues.... Personally, I'd uninstall it.
As far as recovery, you can flash it with Odin as you did before. As far as what the newest one is, you could ask in the rom thread. But I think most use twrp, which has a thread in your device Development section.
You can browse through that section here.... (I don't see a CWM thread )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/development
And original development here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/orig-development
Good luck!

Hi, (sry for the long post but i have allot of questions i can't find solid info on)
Samsung Conquer 4G (SPH-D00), Android version 2.3.6
Brand new to XDA and been looking but all the links aren't working for me
("connection timed out"/"webpage unavailable")
SuperOneClick is what I've been trying to find....but couldn't.
I was able to find and download iRoot, which rooted my old Android but don't know if it really worked
and everything's in a non-English language (I'de rather trust XDA rcmnd stuff).
Can you show me where to find info on:
1)getting a XDA recommended root program for my phone/droid-version)
2) installing custom rom
3)upgrading to a newer version of android (myb)
4)how to enable hotspot on rooted phone
5)connecting my phone to my TV like a Galaxy Note 2 (since i have that cable)
6)how to post all this information for others after i have it all figured out (i want to give back after i learn)
THANK YOU
